Then the other option is to go to Leuven, Belgium as it is the highest ranked on my list (top 50 world, Spain is top 300 in comparison) but does it really matter how well repped the place is for my career? I think learning Spanish is a big benefit despite the low-ish ranking.

Which Uni is it in Rome?

Don't go to Germany. Neither in Italy. Don't choose a capital. Second or even third tier cities are best choice for an Erasmus.
I would go with:
- Bilbao
- Leuvren
- Tours

Avoid Dortmund. One of the worst cities in Europe, comparable to the worst Romanian cities.
Torino is super small, so it will be difficult to get laid since it also lacks internationals

people who are suggesting Sweden have never been to Karlskrona

-place is way too small, 35k people
- filled up with IT students = sausagefest

If we were talking about Uppsala or Lund, then it would be a big yes ; otherwise no

my vote is Amsterdam, especially if the Uni helps with the housing

Toxic femininity alert! The University of Lund has a requirement that 40 percent of all readings have to be by female authors. One professor was teaching a class on early fascist texts and he got in trouble for not having enough women writers! He was told to add some Judith Butler tard

Thank you for all your contributions, yes I did my research on Karlskona and it will not be for me due to the reasons bigfoot mentioned - I have also been to Lund once in my life and it was way too quiet for my liking so I still stick with Spain as my choice for this moment, Leuven Belgium as second.
