RE: Which VPNs have you used?
I'm using NordVPN right now, I signed up for it when it was on sale. I think I paid $3 a month for 24 months, something like that.

Seems decent so far, It seems to slow the internet speed down 15% or so though.

The interface is easy to use and I have used it on my Macbook and iPhone, my Dad is also using it on his iPad.

I use StrongVPN. Cost is about $55 USD / year but the ability to use it on my phone as well more than justifies the cost. I'd recommend it.

Used to use Private Internet Access until I updated my OS X and then it no longer worked and there support wouldn't do jack shit. So I went with IP Vanish instead.

PureVPN. They had a special of 5 years for $69 with 5 logins; which is ~$1.17/month.

RE: Which VPNs have you used?
I've tried at least 5 different ones. ExpressVpn is the most feature rich, fastest, and best bang for my value of them all. It helps me tremendously in Asia and I travel with a router already set up with various cities I need and all I have to do is plug it in and my kids and wife can get online and get Youtube Kids or whatever other things we need with no problems at all.

Most things are super easy to set up too. Only doing the router can be a little tricky, but that goes for all of these services if you want to do that.

This may give many people a warm feeling inside, but it would be utopian to assume everything is fine and dandy. This may expose a person to more scrutiny because of lack of email. Security isn't a binary thing, there's a risk continuum--and there's always some risk that the service in question is collaborating with some intelligence agency or has some spook that has physically infiltrated the company. So called "neutral" "data havens", are not always so. Honestly the US doesn't have to exert that much pressure at all to get a place like Sweden, Switzerland or Iceland to turn over info on the account in question. Records of everything are retained these days. They know your MAC address, your IP address, they know it all. How do you know they don't keep logs? You don't. Who's to trust them anyway? Most companies bend to US demands when the full weight of the federal government comes down on them: at&t, verizon, google, facebook, twitter, etc. They caught a recent government leaker because her printer she used, printed out dots invisible to the human eye, that identified the printer in question. https://boingboing.net/2017/06/06/realit...by-in.html

I just use an OpenVPN client with a random one on VPNGate.net for free. Used to use Hotspot Shield but there's a data cap for the free service. No point in paying especially if you give them your name or your payment details.

PureVPN reports your data if it is asked for. Which is why I don't recommend them. I suggest when you do buy a VPN, 100% look into there privacy policy and how they act with governments/keep your records or are they deleted instantly/etc.. But then again, it all depends on your use for a VPN. I also recommend getting a different setup if what I have said above for a OS system. Maybe some older form of linux bootable from a USB but like I said, it all depends on why you need/want one.

Can you suggest the best VPN for privacy? Or is it better to create personal with a cheap Virtual private server?
