RE: Zurich women? Does anyone have an experiences with Swiss women?
Spent time in Zurich on a cross-continental rail-trip. Was discouraged by visiting by prices, but nonetheless decided to visit because of the beauty of the city and the (((international))) reputation it has accumulated. Also, wanted to say I'd been to the Jason Bourne city!

Women did nothing to swivel my head, or for me to think, "it's decent". Just so many in suits, and probably way more men than women. You would get more out of France or parts of Germany than Zurich specifically, especially because of cost.

The hostel I think I was staying at, looked a better opportunity than the women on the streets. Left within a day because of the cost. I would wager better luck knowing a local, social circle, or something like that. Guys that live there that have GFs seem to have imported them.

I live in Zürich.

One statement: Don’t even try, stay away from Zurich. Many men, not attractive women, Swiss women often prefer only Swiss men, extremely expensive.

IMHO, one of the worst cities to try to date women.

And yes, many of my friends import girls from Asia & EE & South America.

I heard the men - women ratio in ZH is 4:1. I would say my yearslong impression tells me it’s true...

One of my dreams is to spend some summer time hiking around in Switzerland. Anyone done this?

Seems like hostels and backpacking is the only budget friendly option. Where were the other female tourists mostly from? What nationalities?

I’m in Moscow now. Several Russian girls go to Switzerland but just stand in front of the lake getting photos looking nice. They’re not hiking anywhere. I kinda doubt they’re even paying for their own vacation.

I haven't been to Switzerland, but I've done some general researching. Generally speaking, between Bern, Zurich, or Geneva, if you can find a bed in a dorm room for under $45 a night, you're doing good. Airbnb isn't markedly better, and can be a whole lot worse. About Switzerland, most people will say, I brought a shit load of money, and it still wasn't enough.

Austria is a bit more friendly to the budget and if you stick to the GR routes of France or the Alta Via of Italy, you can get the Alps experience for way less than Switzerland. The GR 5 is supposed to be wonderful, so is Alta Via 1 or 2. The only real issue there is that the season opens late because of snow and then a continent of a billion people goes on holiday for July and August, so it can get crowded, on the trail and in the huts.

I haven't done any hiking in Europe past a day trip, but in general, if you're there in the summer, most tourists in Europe will be domestic EU citizens. Americans aren't hugely common. It's a big ocean between us. It seems like no matter where you are, you'll see big tour groups of Germans, Italians, French, and Spanish with a good amount of Chinese and Vietnamese thrown in. Unless it's literally the town or area you were born in, everybody in Europe is a tourist and is obviously so. Don't worry about "looking like a tourist." Do you honestly think that Italians blend in with the French in Paris just because they "dress European?" Worry more about looking like a victim because pickpockets are a thing.

Thanks.

Fuck.

I’m going to save up for a sex change so I can get a sponsored trip to Europe. The only way I’ve been able to afford it is out of season travel.

I did the algarve in portugal this past winter and it was deserted. I got a nice resort room with breakfast for €50 in Lagos. I rented a car for €150/week. I spent a few nights in Faro at a hostel. Forget about girls.

The traffic was much less. No lines in the resort. Empty. All the attractions empty. A few had weird hours. No forest fires to worry about.

You can surf with a wetsuit in winter. Couples rent RVs md stay in the beach parks. The cops are very lenient in winter. You can park almost anywhere. Lots of Northern European couples stay in nice RVs towards the Spanish side where there’s no surfing.

You have to rent an RV with a heater or really bundle up though. I talked to couples who didn’t get the heater and had to stay in hotels. It was $75/day. You can drop the RV in Spain.

I tried to hit some islands in the western Mediterranean and it was horrible weather. I’d never leave the EU coast in winter.

I stepped off in London on Aug 6. I expected it to be crowded, but that was something else entirely. For somebody with an Americans sense of personal space, Europe, can be difficult. After September clicked over, I noticed a lot less people around, but I've also been in places that aren't on the most popular tourist trail.

Honestly, I've gotten the opinion that the least bad time to go to Europe is the shoulder seasons. Winter is cheaper, but the weather is dreadful and it's 6 hours of daylight, but that doesn't matter since the clouds hide the sun anyway. Summer is mostly pleasant, with long days, but you're gonna be asshole to elbow with a billon other people with a month off work and nothing to do to fill it apparently but walk slowly 5 abreast on the sidewalk. I'd like to maybe come back in April, May, or June and see how it is.
