How not to lose too much weight while fasting
How does one minimize weight loss during an extended fasting period?

My situation: 40 days (lent), one meal per day mon-sat, Sunday normal as usual. Will probably eat around 3:00-4pm, and might go to the gym occasionally to do low weight/high reps.

By eating a lot during your one meal. Atleast as much as you would eat in a normal day.

The thing is, fasting is the worst thing you can do for keeping size.

Heavy cream mass gainer shakes with eggs,peanut butter,protein powder,coconut oil,fruit for flavor,oat meal. Get creative with recipies maybe add some waxy maize. Easy way to add 1000+ calories to a meal. Eat super high fat/ carbs,and lower the protein because eating 200 grams of protein in one sitting is pointless from an absorption perspective.

Why are you eating one meal a day and concerned with losing weight/muscle though?I highly doubt gorging yourself like that is conducive with health at all. Your body is going to piss out most of the protein you eat in one sitting. If you're going to eat one meal a day you're just gonna have to come to terms with the fact that you're going to lose weight.

Simple. Know your maintenance calories, then eat them. A dinner food consumption could look like the following:

12oz steak or 450 grams chicken breast 750 calories
2 table spoons olive oil 240 calories
6 glasses whole milk 900 calories
64 grams peanut butter 400 calories

Right there you have 2300 calories.

The best way to only lose fat when fasting and not muscle is to be fully keto adapted. Go strict keto diet for at least a month then try 48 hour or 96 hour fasts.

Up to 96 hours your keto adapted body will use fat for energy and spare the protein. The only protein used will be your bodies junk- I.e. Autophagy.

We'll see how miserable I am adapting to it, and I am used to IF. I just haven't cut carbs and dairy out, which are going away.

Kinobody was recently doing a bulk while intermediate fasting. Check out some of his most recent videos. From memory I think he was using creatine and BCAAs to help prevent muscle loss.

^the big thing he is leaving out is drugs. Drugs are the key element to being able to keep/put on size while eating like a bird.

I read that BCAAs are useful if lifting when fasted, but it could be broscience.

Increase daily calories during your one meal/day. I don't recommend going strctly keto while fasting, just keep carbs low. Lower than anyother macronutrient. Also, at least 500mg test/per week (assuming tou did your homework). If you do not do these things you WILL lose weight both muscle and fat. Fasting is a great technique when cutting but you have to do it right.

The best way to not lose too much weight while fasting is to not fast.

The second best way is to eat adequate protein, at least 1 g per pound. If you're leaner, closer to 1.5 - 2 g per pound.
