I agree with this to the most part. However, you can't beat out money when it all comes down when sealing the girl. I'm well aware you might not be able to spend a lot of time to go out and do things. I work 12-16 hours a day however, you can be creative and make it work. At the end of the day. If you want High end quality women, it pays to play. Eventually the guy who just plays creative angles runs out of funds. It Meeting quality women is fucking expensive. Dallas women are top notch in all n go round for round with any major city. My conclusion, be creative, stay current but have a good amount of disposable income is the ideal way to go.

I was always a guy who tried to live below my means in the past to invest in greater experiences. That's why those chicks were usually lays in the past but faded away lol.

But yeah..skin in the game (money) is extremely important for the sake of just survival in general as you age so one can't really just think of it as merely a tool to "retain the higher value gal."

Now that I'm focusing more on my career(s) and building a nest these days tho....

RE: Dallas Absolutely Sucks
Chiming in since I've been in Dallas for 3 years. Have lived in DC, Baltimore, NYC.
I doubt I'll be here next year mostly because I just find it to be sort of uninspiring.
There's a lot of pros vs. the Northeast, but don't come here to escape the rat race...

Dallas Pros:
1) Shit ton of high paying jobs, especially tech/finance.
2) Low cost of living and coming from Manhattan, finding a really nice apartment with almost no security deposit is ridiculously easy (they give you gifts like Big Screen TVs to rent places lol)
3) People are mostly friendly, that's changing though as more assholes from CA move in
4) Hottest girls I've seen outside of NYC and they're not feminists (for the most part). Lots of hot Latinas, Asians, black chicks, you name it. Girls open to boob jobs and plastic surgery like LA or Miami.
6) It's really hot here from April until October. Some people don't like that, I do. I find the winters though to be too unpredictable though, and I'd rather be in Florida or Arizona for the weather and natural scenery.
7) Good place to settle down with a girl and pop out babies. I say a lot of negative things, but I think it's mostly from a single guy perspective.

Dallas Cons:
1) You'll probably live in the burbs unless you have a job downtown. The center of Dallas is actually Addison - and its moving further north year after year (Frisco!!). A lot of locals rarely venture into the city. If you like commuting, it's on the level of Atlanta or LA. Downtown Dallas and Deep Ellum are becoming more popular though as transplants are colonizing city proper.
2) 90% of the singles here are of the WASPY sorority/frat crowd yuppy crowd - even narrower personalities than the yuppie scene in DC. If that's not your scene, you'll struggle a bit to fit in (it's not mine). Not much of an artsy/hipster scene outside of a few pockets in the city. Fort Worth and Denton are worthwhile spots to visit for a break from the yuppies.
3) Like a lot of the South, a lot of people get married in their early to mid 20s here - less of a singles scene.
4) You have to travel far outside of Dallas proper to get any sense that you're in Texas (and real Texans are cool as hell). As a former New Yorker I don't really want to run into any of you here lol.
5) Too many people are moving here. 5 years ago, Dallas had hit its sweet spot in terms of livability. I can't say that's the same now. There are too many California transplants that are changing things up and trying to turn it into a cheaper LA... hence, the worst traffic I've ever experienced, people are becoming less friendly, too much construction, and cost of living is going up, a lot of bullshit hippy restaurants popping up that don't belong in Texas
6) Limited mass transit unless you live downtown and it's pretty decent there actually. You will gain weight and struggle to stay fit if you came from a car free existence as I had for 9 years before I moved here.
7) Lots of gold diggers and chicks in their 20s still living with their parents.
8) Culture is a lot of status whoring, which upsets my Midwestern sensibilities. Too many BMWs and Porches...
9) There's no nature. So for all the driving you'll be doing, you'll never be motivated to take a road trip.
10) There are a lot of restaurants charging NYC prices here that really don't make the grade.
11) Guys here really like playing video games, fantasy football, and there's a surprisingly high amount of weed smokers. Outside of those activities, you'll find a lack of arts and culture in the mix.
12) Too spread out. A lot of folks have said that, but it's difficult to emphasize this enough that dating is tough because the singles are not in any particular area and it kills your motivation.

Not saying Dallas is shitty, there's a lot of pros (Even compared to NYC - which is why I'm here). The women here are generally easier to deal with and the ratios are usually better everywhere. I had a girlfriend in 4 months of living here and a lot of bangs running up to that. Too bad the quality of life is pretty low because it's a concrete jungle with shitty urban planning and a lack of natural scenery, arts, and culture.

RE: Dallas Absolutely Sucks
Dallas is probably my next move. I've been liking what I'm hearing about it.

NYC is great for single life but it's getting to be a mindfuck. I'm hooking up with girl after girl in the 24-27 range who haven't even given a passing thought to settling down. Everything I've heard about Dallas says there's a ton of hot conservative white girls who are peer pressured into young marriage.

On a financial level, I do well for my age in NYC but you can only fake being a baller for so long on my income. I can be a baller or I can save money-but I can't do both. Once I hit my 30's my income is not going to give me a huge advantage in the city-finance guys who hit it big in their 30's are usually making 500k and up. I'm pretty sure I can make around a quarter million in Dallas which is a completely different lifestyle than in NYC. My career doesn't require me to be in an NYC office like finance or media so I should be fine.

You can escape the rat race while being location independent...but leaving it for the most part usually results in a huge salary drop.

^yeah it's mainly the So Cal ppl that annoy me..but I don't really interact with them too much. Much of the Nor Cal ppl here are actually quite chill.

#6 is quite true. Mid-March through early July until the 4th = peak season here in Dallas.

July = most of the hot chicks travel after the 4th as many of my mini-relationships typically end around this time. There are ways around this. I've historically bottled up in July by just getting a lot of personal work done while just chilling by the pool.

August = Hot chicks come back & easier to meet DTF ones

September = Really bad allergies due to the mountain cedar/ragweed, etc & heat. July & September are typically great months to travel & leave town.

Late September till late November = great two month span. Autumn parties, fashion events, etc.

December = Kinda sucks bc of all these Christmas parties not worth anything

January/February = Decent months but not great. Good time to go somewhere warm

As for #7, I will get into that in the "cons"

Downtown Dallas and Deep Ellum are becoming more popular though as transplants are colonizing city proper.

What you're describing is like 98% of the sprawled out car-centric US outside of NYC and parts of DC/San Fran. Time to get over it.

I'm kind of the adventurous type so don't mind driving to see family, friends, relatives, go to a specialty ethnic store for groceries, or trying out new restaurants that aren't style over substance like everything close to Downtown/Uptown.

Downtown Dallas is becoming more popular but I avoid it like the plague because of the homeless problem not to mention bitch shields are super high there for nightlife. The only good thing Downtown Dallas might have is weekday day game opportunities for chicks on lunch break there haha.

I also avoid Deep Ellum bc it's just too damn hipster. Life is too short to hang around the soy boys that get enjoy craft beer every weekend while getting friend zoned in their lame ass kickball or sand volleyball leagues.

It's actually quite easy to get out of the WASPY Greek life forever crowd as Dallas offers a bit for the young professional single.

I will say much of Uptown has been overtaken by the SMU crowd though compared to the past where that area was 90% young professionals whom were legitimately looking to start anew in the big city while eager to meet new people.

That number has kind of dipped down to a scattered 50% whereas the remaining 50% is comprised of SMU or recent transplants trying to relive their undergrad days.

I like Denton as a good change of pace for the restaurants, outdoorsy stuff, etc. One thing about Denton is that it gets a lot of California transplants (young couples) that'd rather buy an older pier/beam style type house while enjoying the park culture up there opposed to a cookie cutter one in a typical burb.

Ft. Worth I'd say is friendlier but much harder to crack personal space of others unless you're a part of their "FW cliques." I'd know since I went to high school with a lot of people from the heart of Ft. Worth.

Why not bang married chicks or gals in relationships? The singles scene by virtue just increased ten fold. Also divorces are quite prevalent in Dallas too which is way different than the deep south where people marry early & stay married (cry)

As for #4, the most hardcore Texans were actually once New York natives believe it or not.

I'd say the "sweet spot" has actually increased compared to a few years back with all these people moving in because they definitely overdeveloped; many brand new apartment complexes in areas even closer to Uptown/Downtown are offering killer rent specials & a free month due to high vacancies.

I find many transplants to be friendly though there are two exceptions:
A) Chicks from Ohio/Michigan that are the biggest gold diggers of all time
B) The passive aggressive "white flight" SMU crowd from Southern California.

Speaking of B, it's quite valued to be accepted into an in state California school these days due to the heavy competition from Asians out there. So many of the Caucasian people at SMU from So Cal resent Asian people in general big time! Hate to make such a generalized comment but that's primarily by experience with them.

I also don't mind the hippy restaurants as well with more of my diet going plant-based due to the antibiotics & hormones in many of our dairy & meats at grocery stores. (I prefer eating meat/dairy abroad as its more natural & not processed)

So the increase of grocery stores like Whole Foods and Sprouts along with more vegan restaurants & more dedicated workout routines should offset Con #6 which is prevalent in 98% of the US.

^yeah some funny shit about Dallas right there.

I'd say the "in thing" to do in Dallas these days while conversing with others is to be more low key & modest. These people are perceived to be of "higher value."

You know what they say in sales...."first one to speak.....loses"

Besides Central Park, was there nature you got to enjoy everyday while living in NYC? Smile

Definitely some good parks around DFW like say in Flower Mound or North Arlington but I get..sprawled out.

As for higher end restaurants, these are great places to meet higher quality young professional chicks as bitch shields are lower there compared to a douchey bar.

Then again, I don't go solely for the food as I prefer to eat a cheaper places scattered throughout the Metroplex minus the drop in substance.

There's definitely arts/culture if you actually possess the initiative to find those things.

As for 12), use it as an advantage to have chicks in different neighborhoods haha.

One of my now married buddies would bang a chick in Dallas on weeknights but then have this cute Latina from TCU come over every other weekend when things freed up for her. He'd then have an "excuse" to visit that TCU chick every other weekend.

I understand your frustration as I too also lived in NYC while in cities outside of the US as well. Not only have I traveled to 23+ different countries too but have also developed good relationships with people there that allowed me to live like locals too.

I'm not insinuating your experiences are by all means "inferior" to mines but if anything, I kind of possess the right to be "upset about living in Dallas" moreso than you....but I don't because I've found happiness in accepting it for what it is.

There's a lot of cool hobbies you can pick up in Dallas like taking language/arts/technical courses at community colleges for cheap, engaging in different fitness programs, cooking classes, bike riding or specialized dance lessons.

I get the sprawl kind of sucks ass too but it's an excuse to try out new ethnic restaurants in the burbs which Dallas offers a ton of or just explore new neighborhoods in general.

I find the happiest transplants in the Dallas area take initiative with many hobbies opposed to the miserable ones whom just work long hours & try to date outside of their professional commitments.

My next move is to that area, but not actually Dallas. Frisco, Denton, basically an hour away from the sprawl.

You guys are crazy if you don't think Dallas/FW is an area with easy lays.... Women are very easy to open... they are very obvious if they like you... yes they probably want to get married but sell the dream and you'll smash by the 2nd date... easy... latinas, black girls, white girls.... women everywhere... hit the hot spot areas .... it's pockets everywhere and daygame oppos everywhere... I moved here from east coast and was in culture shock with how easy the women were

Having lived in Dallas for a few years, FullThrottle is right on. It's awesome for jobs but the quality of life/cost of living advantage is diminishing. There's a certain blandness to the city that comes from much of its population relocating there for corporate jobs. Nightlife was fun and the girls flirty as hell, but when I left I concluded the city was accruing all of the down sides of LA with none of the upsides (beach, weather, scenery).

I'd recommend Dallas if you're corporate and can make bank for a few years. If you're location independent or can 9 to 5 on the coast, there's no reason to be there.

Oh yea, it's true: almost every local dude I met there was a pot head video game addict lol.

I agree with this. I make enough bank in the region to put up with the cons but I couldn't imagine living here if my source of income wasn't location dependent on this place. If I could have a comparable quality of life making money somewhere else, I'd leave in a heartbeat.

Move to Denton over frisco. Frisco is just suburban sprawl while Denton is a college town. Old cougars who think they're the shit in a entry level LV bag with Lululemons or some innocent (not as much dick) college chick who likes to drink?

Houston > Dallas

I'll be in DFW next week, lets drink bitches.

Heading to The Big D in a little less than a month!

Any daygame spots worth hitting in addition to the Downtown Arts District and Uptown?
