So you're planning on making unilateral decisions that go against your doctor's advice without consulting them? You've just come to this conclusion on your own.

Don't be stupid. Take the full course of antibiotics as they were prescribed.

RE: 10 day water fast completed
I don't want to clutter up a wonderful fasting discussion with other stuff but I might as well talk about this. My doctor's suggestion was simply to take antibiotics forever. At least a year. That is western medicines answer to dry eyes causing styes. Since I was in a really bad situation with large, bulbous styes I went with his advice. But its bad advice long term. Western medicine treats symptoms, not causes for problems. Questions like: why are my eyes dry and why do they get infected with styes from the dryness aren't talked about. There is a symptoms and then the answer is antibiotics forever. This is actually the second time a doctor has told me to take antibiotics for years, when I had bad acne as a teenager. But instead I changed my diet, started taking zinc, stopped washing my face so much and my acne got much better.

So instead Ive been thinking about why my eyes are so dry, if its part of my diet or perhaps a supplement I take, or maybe its hormonal, im not sure. But something like a fast is a very good way to see if its related to diet because I wont be eating for a while. If my eyes become much less dry, then hey, I have some new information.

Western medicines answer to symptoms are pills. Not diet, exercise, lifestyle changes, etc. It has its place but its not a long term solution to take antibiotics for years to put a band aid on symptoms.

Western medicine probably thinks fasts are harmful, or not beneficial, which is absolutely not the case. I already fast 24-36 hours regularly and do intermittent fasting and Im in great shape and health for my age, except for these dry eyes. I know fasting is helpful and is part of keeping youthful.

I've got high blood pressure (a problem I think is vastly exaggerated by the med industry so they can hit targets, but alas), and from doing some fairly extensive research I'm definitely going to have a go at this. Here's the medical results for anyone interested: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12470446

For the love of God, get off the antibiotics and repair your microbiome (it will take awhile). Until you repair your microbiome, you have a high chance of developing serious health problems, including an autoimmune disease. I speak from personal experience. Personally, I will never again take antibiotics unless it is in response to a life-threatening condition.

For dry eyes they often do inserts in the lacrimal duct inserts which helps the eye from drying. Also doesn't hurt to use hot washcloth compresses and lid scrubs twice a day till things start to heal. Lids scrubs you can do forever. Basically just cleaning of the dead skin on the eyelid to prevent that from falling in the eye. I think it helps with inflammation too. I'm bad about doing it myself though.

RE: 10 day water fast completed
I think I'm going to have a go at this. Starting 6pm tonight I won't eat anything and will try to go until Sunday 6pm with only water. I think I'll also take a activated charcoal tablet before 6pm to try to get as many toxins out of my body as possible. I've always had some fat around my abdominal area even though I've been exercising intensely for a very long time no matter how hard I try to diet and get rid of it.

This Saturday I have an all you can eat dinner function so I'll ease into that with some bone broth I've made.

Do you guys take any vitamins or minerals while fasting?

No, ingest nothing but clean pure water when fasting. In fact, if possible, try to avoid tap water with chlorine, fluoride, or any other contaminants. Even though I own a four-stage water filter, when I fast I go out of my way to obtain my water from a water store that uses the best possible filtration system.

Thanks TG. I use a Berkey system. I'm considering a soft dry fast actually just to see what will happen.

I found this guy on youtube with some good videos explaining how fasting works scientifically
