Tokyo or Seoul for 1 Year
Which and why? Assume you have a decent salary relative to the cost of living in each city.

Tokyo, easy.

Semibaron, a lot of guys here have said Osaka is tough. I've only visited and never stayed there though.

RE: Tokyo or Seoul for 1 Year
Seoul is a lot of fun and a tad cheaper than Tokyo. I was there a year ago and it's also a lot more interesting now than it was 20 years back, but neither city is as enamored with the white guy status as they were back then.

Internet connectivity and cheap travel have ruined both places just a bit (a reduced overall level of mutual curiosity), but there's still ample opportunity for fun. It all comes down to whether or not you want to bang Japanese or Korean women.

I'd say tokyo although i haven't visited either. Tokyo is bigger I believe, and seems like a cooler city in general, although Seoul can't be that bad.

I think plastic surgery is way bigger in Korea as well, which I don't like at all.

There's about ten million in the Seoul metro area, so the law of averages is still pretty good. I definitely saw a lot more fake tits this time around. But they were not overdone the way American women typically do them.

They also are into modifying the eyes, which is kinda stupid. I also hear about "virginity restoration" being popular. So if that virgin knows how to give great head, that's a sign - she's not new, she's just refurbished.

I think Tokyo Proper and Tokyo Metro are bigger than Seoul Proper and Seoul Metro, although I could be wrong. Tokyo is also a tier one global city and I don't think Seoul is.

The eye surgery is a big thing, and it's often the case where the women all look the same because they want to look like one of the big K-Pop superstars.

Also you can smoke everywhere in Tokyo and can't do that in Seoul.

Interesting...

Do Tokyo.

Source: family member who is familiar with both cities and lived in Tokyo.

Reasons: More to do, more welcoming culture (assuming OP is caucasian...they ARE racist in both places), bigger city overall, Tokyo is cleaner and safer, and he liked the Tokyo girls better.

If it's for game keep in mind that there's a huge US military presence near Seoul. That translates directly to more pay for play scams, ripoff locations, gold diggers, hookers, and everything shady that goes along with large numbers of horny, in shape, 19 year olds running around with all of their first grown up paycheck and no clue how to use it responsibly.

Both the Japanese and Koreans are racist as hell, but the Japanese don't tend to throw it in your face as often. The Koreans, on the other hand, seem to want to ensure that you never forget what they think about you.

Japanese women are also going to be more open to you than Korean women.

Kyon, you've achieved 94 tiers of bias.

You're from a country well known for xenophobic and racist attitudes toward everyone who isn't Korean and you're clearly not capable of contributing value to this discussion.

Korean women could look like this...

...and you'd still be convinced that they are the hottest in the world.

It appears that your only purpose for being a member of this forum is to tell everyone how amazing you think Korea is.

In fact, your very first post on the forum was used to start a thread entitled "How do Korean girls compare to other nationalities?" where you wrote:

(02-10-2018 09:00 PM)Kyon Wrote:  Question to those who have been to Korea or live here, how do Korean girls compare to everywhere else, attractiveness wise? I know all the cultural characteristics so I'm asking purely about looks.

I live in Korea but I'm curious about other peoples views/opinions on this

You wrote this desperately hoping that everyone who fall all over themselves to tell you that Korean girls have the best DNA on the planet and that they are absolutely superior to all other women who have inferior genetic stock.

When that didn't happen, you started yet another thread entitled "Are Korean girls the most beautiful girls in the world?" where you wrote:

(03-29-2018 12:27 AM)Kyon Wrote:  As someone who lives in Korea I wonder what people think of Korean girls, looks wise. I know many of you guys think they are materialistic and have the princess mentality, but are they the most beautiful in the world?

They are seen as the most fashionable and the most beautiful in Asia by many. But what about the world?
For the record, I don't mean Korean Americans. I'm talking about Korean girls.

Share what you think of them, your personal opinion, experiences

You also posted the following comment hoping that someone would tell you that Korean women are the most attractive of all:

(03-16-2018 12:12 AM)Kyon Wrote:  How would you say Korean girls compare when it comes to JUST LOOKS to other Asians but ALSO to white, black girls etc.?

Thank you for the replies! I have been infatuated with asian women for forever, and have always dreamed of a stay in Seoul. I’ve recently been doing a lot more research on Tokyo, and I have to say it’s growing on me. All of the research I’ve done corroborates what many have said here in the forum. Looks like it’s time to learn Japanese!

Futhermore, a greater number of sane, well-adjusted Japanese woman are open to dating foreigners, especially if you can speak the language.

Second hand information, but I've heard a significant number of Koreans who date non-Koreans only date non-Koreans, and reject too much of their culture.

Potentially bad info aside, it's basically a choice between Japanese politeness and Korean directness.

RE: Tokyo or Seoul for 1 Year
If you compare Japan and Korean cultures in the Hofstede model, there is a striking difference. Japan scores 95% on masculinity, the highest in the world, while Korea scores 39%, one of the lowest score in the world. Also, Japan is slightly more individualist (46%) than other Asian countries. Korea is collectivist (18% individualism). Historically, Japan was a paternalist, military society while Korea adopted the intellectual and family values of China, where women play a more important role, so maybe it kind of make sense

Anyway, what does it mean for women? Having dated a handful of both, Korean women are generally much more expressive than Japanese women (read: bitchy). Japanese women tend to cry in silence or explode in short bursts of anger while Korean women may give you a hard time day by day. In my view, a relationship with a Korean is more interesting, but more demanding, than with a Japanese. Also you would expect women in a masculine society to be more motivated for sex, and my experience seems to confirm it: Japanese girls win here. (Also note that Japan is known in Asia for its porn industry, while Korea makes great romantic soaps).

Korean language is a bit easier to learn than Japanese because Chinese characters are not really used, so you can get by with the alphabet.

Sorry. I don't mean to derail this thread but had to jump on this post. The Osaka threads have been quiet.

I might stop in Osaka this Saturday if it's worth it. I need to fly out.

Why is Osaka a better place to day game vs. Tokyo? I don't speak Japanese, yet I've had moderate success for coming here on short stop over trips.

That's my question.

The Osaka thread implies it's harder there than Tokyo. Fewer clubs, fewer success overall (though not as bad as Kyoto). I haven't read about anyone actually having more success in second and third tier cities than Tokyo, unless they're really fluent in Japanese, but the latter won't exactly hurt in Tokyo in that case.

From my experience in Japan, I got more of a gruff, aggressive vibe from Osaka (which is ironic considering its reputation as Japan's most gregarious place and home of its comedy duos). Tokyo, on the other hand, was much more neutral overall towards foreigners, IME. They're pretty used to us since there are so many out and about there. People in small towns ranged from neutral to friendly, second and third tier cities were neutral. Overall, Osaka gave me the worst vibe.

I appreciate your civil response. I've lived in both China and Japan and spent a lot of time in Korea as a result. Many, many visits.

My earlier post had nothing to do with the merits of Korean women. The focus was entirely on the fact that you've started two different threads hoping that other people would agree with your belief that Korean women are the most beautiful in the world.

Dude, create an identity based on your own accomplishments, not based on you nationality and whatever sense of mistaken fulfilment your genetics give you.

I hope the threads you create in the future will be datasheets based on your own achievements and lessons learned in business, travel and women.

Your information is a bit out of date and limited. I never thought Seoul was less than safe even in the worst of neighborhoods back in the 90s when I was there. BTW, the military presence in Seoul is severely dialed down - by the end of the summer the last of the troops in Yongsan Garrison will have moved 55 miles south to Camp Humphreys. The old military base is being turned over to the South Koreans, but not sure what will be done with it. When I walked by there it was pretty dead - practically no US or ROK (South Korean) military presence at all.

Even back when I was stationed there the only P4P scams were the "buy me drink" girls in bars and very obvious street walkers near Itaewon. There wasn't any "scam" about it if you risked an STD by hooking up with one of them - pretty cut & dry hooker playbook. OP has nothing to worry about in that respect. Besides, most of the night life action these days is south of the river near Hongdaemun.

Osaka is the much better choice:
- real Japan, not the intensional vibe you find in Tokyo
- city size is more reasonable. In those mega cities size is actually your enemy as you have to spend hours to go from a to b
- has a clear city center (namba to umeda). Where is the city center in Tokyo?
- better looking and nicer girls
- more outgoing people
- less foreigners
- less English (that's positive, trust me)

In the end, it does come down to language ability. 1 year without being able to communicate with the people around you can be a long time.

RE: Tokyo or Seoul for 1 Year
So much shitpost by members who have not visited both places but nevertheless have strong opinions. Stop throwing up shots from half- court, guys.

I'll try to make it simple through some full disclosure:

I'm Korean- Canadian. Lived about 10 years in Seoul, traveled to Japan many times, but only to Tokyo and Fukuoka for leisure. My roommate in my twenties was a former beaureau chief for a Tokyo news agency.

Some guys prefer Seoul and some guys prefer Tokyo. Just like some people want to go backpacking and some like to go on guided tours. It has to do with your affinity for either order or chaos.

If I was white and not Korean, I'd prefer Tokyo and that is because Tokyo is more orderly, more logical, more aesthetic with more reverence for nature. On the other hand, they tend to be more rigid when it comes to formal rules and the flip side of their zen/shinto asceticism is that the Japanese can be hard to feel close to and you will perpetually feel like an outsider. I'm introverted by nature and I love minimal aesthetics so Japan is very comfortable and appealing to me.

Contrast that with Korea which is altogether more chaotic, more impulsive, rougher around the edges. Koreans can be intrusive and have less regard for personal boundaries. But on the bright side, Korean friends you make will bond quickly and be loyal for life. A spark, a coincidence or a friendly accident can be considered a valid premise to build your life around.

Don't go based on the quality of women. Both cities are large enough that you'll never exhaust the supply of hot women. I prefer Korean women and find them on average more attractive, but they can be bitchier and some people complain about the plastic surgery. Whatever. Just don't go for those girls then. The top talent in both countries is equivalent in every regard.

If you're more about quantity over quality, then base the decision on your income. Put yourself in the best situation to exploit your work situation/ status. So basically, wherever you get the best offer, best package, best home base in the best neighborhood etc. In general, more ROI for status in Japan as they have a longer history of development, and are more inclined to respecting authority

Please feel free to follow up with any more detailed suggestions, but just ask yourself whether you'd rather go to England or Italy. Similar proposition.
