This is a thread relating to the game of football and not the politics surrounding it (hence the title), thus off-topic posts deserve to be called out.

This thread is the forum's de facto World Cup thread and these international sporting events are at least 1 part politics/nationalism/race for every part pure sport. The mods don't abide dupes, so nobody is going to create a separate "FIFA World Cup (COMPREHENSIVE DISCUSSION)" thread. Just because a 4 rep lurker chose to give this thread the title that he did doesn't obligate the rest of us to not comment on the full spectrum of topics that make up the World Cup experience.

Russia has surprised every one till now.

A team that was supposed to be all together less than 30 million dollars defeated the team of a player that is supposed to be more than 120 million euros.

Wé are not advocating anything SJW.

We just speak as lovers of the beautiful game, who want somewhere to express it, and discuss tactically, a la sports journalists, but also armchair tv national fans.

The soccer thread already exists, for nationalist discussions. I have already chimed in like others, including Going Strong, who is more football aware and perhaps even more nationalist than Simeon.

The players are from Caribbean backgrounds, all born in England. Some of them are mixed-race, I guess certain people would have a problem with that.

Tunisia played well, they only lost to a last minute goal from England.

I bet the globalists fixed this game.

Kind of funny, but teams like this Senegal squad did well precisely because they played smarter and more organized. This is because their players now benefit from the experience of their coaching staff, as they now are the 2nd generation of players performing in Europe. Aliou Cissé, who played in England, imparted a good basis of discipline and teamwork in his players. The fact that he's from the same country and same background as his players gives the team more focus and cohesion. Typically West African teams were coached by French and European retreads.

So you could say that this team is not a low-IQ team.

Saudi Arabia on the other hand is the worst team in the tournament because their federation closed its domestic league and discouraged their top players from going to Europe, so their game, which was competitive back in the 1980s (see their beating a very solid Belgium team in 94, anchored by Michel Preud'homme and Enzo Scifo), has stagnated.

The most stunning game for me so far was Germany's, not the result itself, but how they've lost that game through a combination of bad tactics and hubris. They expected to camp outside the Mexican box and light them up all day, leaving their backline open. Even after Mexico had its first, second and third counter attack, Löw and co. must have thought "hey it's OK, those Mexicans can't even finish a 3 on 2 counter". Even in the 2nd half down by a goal they didn't adjust. They still had plenty of time to organize and build up their attacks without leaving their backside bare.

This is a great tournament so far, a lot of solid play, some great games, great matchups and drama. No 0-0s in sight. It's too early to make predictions, a lot of former winners have started slow and built momentum over the course of this month-long tournament. A lot of times it comes down to the bracket, for example Portugal would have had a very hard time winning the last Euro had they had a harder path to the final, they got a mentally and physically drained French team that had one fewer day of rest and played a tough German team in OT.

English football fans are amazing. It the stadium its more like war chants then the dancing you see in the video above. Easily the best football experience of my life. They make Eagles fans look like pussies.

I thought England was awesome in first half, other then the penaity but Stones, Sterling and Lingard shanked some really good chances.

England's squad seems a little weak this year but the hype is what hurt them in the past.

They are also now trying to stop Mexican fans from yelling "Puto" on goal kicks because its a gay slur. Worth discussing in my opinion..

Wouldn't it be great if Mexico won, this is the country that gave us the Wave and the Macarena.

Senegal and Japan are leading the group with 3 points each, over Colombia and Poland. This should be interesting to see who advances from this group.

Russia is the first team to advance.

None of the top teams have a win.

Could there be a new champion this year!

You know... I've talked a lot of shit about the Mexican fans, how they have no class, etc. But if their right to free speech is under attack, you can be damn sure I side with them against the SJWs and speech police.

Now I have a reason to support Mexico, if I were back in Cali I'd hit up sports bars and scream PUTA right along with them.

LOL I knew a few Mexican dudes back when I lived in Chicago. Among the less politically correct Mexicans, "Puto" can almost be considered a term of endearment. Almost a a way for the machismo dudes to egg each other on.

RE: FIFA World Cup (Soccer Side Only)
Yeah the gay mafia have been trying to crackdown on Mexican fans yelling puto in unison at the opposition goalie during goal kicks. It happens in every Mexican football game, and FIFA have been trying to stop it by fining the Mexican federation each time it happens.

There is talk that they're going to impose a different punishment soon because fining the Mexican federation has no effect. Does anyone know how much they've been fined this time? I read 500,000 pesos and also 500,000 dollars. That's quite a big difference.

A beer advert suggested yelling 'Putin' instead. I don't know why they can't just say that's what we were yelling? What's homophobic about yelling Putin?

Yes another reason to support Mexico and it's putO not puta, thats for bitches.

You can't stop the "puto" chant.

You just can't. It doesn't matter what they do. Mexicans will continue to do it. It began to be a thing in the local league about 15 years ago or so in Mexico and it rubbed off into the international team. You have to be Mexican to understand the meaning behind it. Mexicans say it in their everyday lives all the time.

Its like trying to stop Argentinians from saying "Che boludo" or Black rappers in America from saying "nigga" in their songs. Or just Blacks from saying "nigga" in general. Just not going to happen.

You are right about the Macarena being Spanish. I always thought it was caribbean or something like that.

The wave did start in college games in the US in the early 80s, and Mexicans started doing it in their local soccer league. Then the 86 World Cup came to Mexico and it was introduced to the world outside North America thus calling it the "Mexican wave". Mexico pretty much stole it and claimed it. But you're right. It did start in American college games.

Mexico's game was good, though let's not get ahead of ourselves - Germany was dominant, they simply played to their strengths and did that well.

Also they get multiple bonus and sympathy points from me for the 30-girl-orgy preparation. Maybe every team should prepare like that to loosen up and relax.

--------

Senegal played very smart, disciplined in addition to the inherent athletics that they had. Sure - the Germans now have this super-fast young striker Timo Werner who is supposedly faster than Usain Bolt in the first 30 meters, but Senegal seems to have a few of those - only taller and more muscular.

And the trainer of Senegal should be in Game style handbooks for the black gentleman of how to dress and groom. Dreadlocks with dark suit and chick-magnet black bracelets - that's style Game recognized right there. He is also quite young for a coach.

I do believe that a lot of the quality of that team is his merit.

RE: FIFA World Cup (Soccer Side Only)
Now that every team has played a game, my first impressions:

-As always first round's first games on the WC are lacking in goals and risk taking, many teams play not to lose and it was visible. What was remarkable is the amount of games that were decided through free-kicks and penaltys. With the defense as a priority, this is the preferred method of breaking open a game.
-As expected Europe has been dominating, sure Germany and Poland lost, but all the others did well, so we can speak of a trend. I expect the South American teams to be stronger though in the coming week. Especially Peru had an unfortunate game, but also Colombia due to their man-down situation and Argentina/Brazil against strong defensive blocks. Asian teams have been poor. Iran won but it was undeserved, the Saudis and Australia will be lucky to get a point. Japan was decent, but I'd see them making second round tops. For me it is already clear that we will have a european-latin american duel from the quarters on, with Senegal and Mexico perhaps to surprise.
-The best playing teams for me were Mexico (but poor finishing), Peru (the same), Russia (with weak opposition) and Spain. Spain the only one of the favourites that could impress so far. From the outsiders Belgium and England did well. Argentina and France were surprisingly bad. I feel as if one of the top contenders could stumble in the group phase, which would be amazing.
-So far, the star players have not stepped it up, except for one man off course: Christiano Ronaldo. Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, Lewandowski, Hazard, Eriksen, Suarez, Salah...all were a bit disappointing.
-From the bit lesser known players I liked Sergej Milenkovic from Serbia, Golovin from Russia, Herrera from Mexico, Ismaila Sarr from Senegal, Cueva from Peru (I think) and Behrami from Switzerland.
-Second group games I expect to be more interesting, with teams to play all or nothing and with the favorites with no place to hide anymore.
-Today I expect a nice game between Portugal and Morocco, the latter not being as weak as people thing. Iran and Arabia might get an ass whooping.

I've been having the same feeling of dread I had all through the Euros. God, Portugal are objectively awful and have been for quite some time yet they seem to grind out results. I sincerely hope they don't win or even progress far. Apart from CR, the rest of the side is mediocre at best.
