Man those are some weak-ass excuses. The handball was a penalty. Get over it.

Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that mate.

Yah the level of denial around here on that is ridiculous.

If you jump up in front of the net with your arms out you are rolling the dice, period. This is why a lot of players hold their arms firmly at their sides when jumping up to defend in front of the net. Anything else is too risky, as we've just seen.

The refs have to be complete, total and uncompromising hardasses when it comes to handballs because any hint of lenience or weakness will see that shit slowly creeping in over time and ruining the game. If you think Neymar-style faking/cheating/diving/etc is bad now, the bullshit associated with "accidental" handballs would make it look tame by comparison if the refs did not consistently exact the harshest possible penalties with the quickness.

We suffer more in our own minds than we do in reality.

Just saw an interesting stat that Giroud is the first, and probably the last, center forward to win the World Cup without registering a single shot on target in the entire tournament, and he played pretty much every minute of it.

Yeah I dont get why they picked Giroud. Why is he at Chelsea? A player like him should be at Swansea or Newcastle. Same as Welbeck. Maybe its his 'hold up play', whatever that means.

546 - Olivier Giroud didn't attempt a single shot on target in 546 minutes at this World Cup for France. Nonplussed.

Your striker didn't even take 1 shot on goal and he didn't play bad?

Colombian center back Mina scored 3 goals.

Then got the Ws and took home the trophy that's what matters. Giroud is a player i like being an Arsenal Fan. Yes he is a good point man.. He wins the ball in the air and brings in others. Not only that but he's good on set pieces.

In the end they won with him as the forward. I don't think they care too much about the stats.

Exactly, so that didn't happen because of Giroud. If France played Lacazette, Fekir or Benzema, they would have won it easier. At least, they could have took a shot on target 1 time throughout the tournament mrgreen

Nah, Giroud provided great structure allowing Mbappe and Griezmann to play off him. A big number 9 adds quite a bit even when he isn't scoring - would take a Benzema over him, a Fekir would materially alter the team structure, however.

Actually now that VAR has been introduced, diving/acting/faking has to be an automatic yellow card. That would teach them real quick.
It's not acceptable that the whole world is seeing a player faking it, in slow motion, over and over again and again and again, right after it happened, but nothing happens to punish them for it.
Player is diving -> VAR notifies referee -> next time the game is interrupted for whatever reason, referee shows player the yellow card for diving.
It could be so easy!

Or so you think.
Deschamps could have played any of the strikers you mentioned, yet he didn't.
Him and his team are not blind, they sure noticed that Giroud didn't have any shots on target or scored any goals, obviously. Still picked him for their starting 11 again and again. Don't you think there's a reason for that?

It might be unpopular, but a 9 doesn't necessarily have to score lots of goals, especially not with the offensive power France has available on all other positions. Giroud has a high work rate, he's disciplined and he always helps out when the team is defending. He holds the ball up, he distributes it, he's winning headers and, very important, he occupies the centre-backs. And that means lots and lots of space for Griezmann and Mbappe.

So in the end, it paid off for Deschamps and they won the thing with his tactic and choice of players. Who can argue with that?

^^^^ What still boggles my mind as it pertains to Neymar is that the fact that they allowed Neymar to be on the ground whining a considerable amount of time in the games. He lasted a total of 15 minutes on the ground in this world cup. WTF are the refs doing? Are you really going to stand by and watch this dude roll over and cry for 15 minutes and not give a yellow card?

RE: FIFA World Cup (Soccer Side Only)
Giroud draws defenders, his physical presence makes it hard for one defender to cover him. This opens up things for the smaller quicker forwards Mbappe and Griezmann. The combination of one big center forward and a speedy winger is a classic one.

Giroud scored about as many goals at this world cup as the entire Italian team combined. lol

Wenger and Conte didn't play Giroud. Before that, he was playing at Montpellier. Do you think every coach in the world is blind and only Deschamps is the genius one?

He was a bench-warmer at Arsenal for 5 years, when the coach was French. Before that, he was at Montpellier. If he was so great, why didn't nobody get him? I mean, even Wenger didn't play him regularly at Arsenal. Conte said, we got Arsenal bench forward instead of someone I want.

Winning World Cup doesn't make you great coach, just like Löw. He won the World Cup in 2014 by scoring 7 goals against Brazil and this time, he couldn't even get out of group.

So, if you win a World Cup, it doesn't still justify every action you took about the team. Giroud will never become key player any club that he plays for, as long as he doesn't play for mediocre teams.

Lacazette, Fekir and Benzema are a lot better than Giroud any day. Thus, that's why, their values are a lot higher than Giroud. We're talking about a striker, (forget about scoring) who couldn't even take a single shot on target mrgreen

Hope poor Giroud gets at least a shot on target post-WC winning, when all kinds of French pussies are thrown at him. I know that kid Mbappe's gonna be swimming in those.

Mbappe's got a tight family and a close relationship with his mother and father, probably the kind of man who is going to settle down early instead of riding the male carousel.

Your takes are that of a lower-level, glory hunter football fan, those are not the points a higher-level student of the game would make.

Benzema is (a) not that good, and (b) a highly toxic low class persona who would poison team chemistry.

Your take on Low is ridiculous, the guy built a dynasty and proved himself. He became a bit complacent, and so did his players, but that is a common pattern (see France '10, Spain etc).

RE: FIFA World Cup (Soccer Side Only)
Following the completion of the World Cup, some events have happened in Croatia that easily illustrate how beautiful and full of potential our country is, yet is simultaneously held in the iron grip of globalist traitors and will never prosper until it gets rid of them.

The spectacular homecoming ceremony in Zagreb attended by over half a million people was, according to our media, pundits, experts and NGOs marred by the attendance of this man, Marko Perković Thompson:

Thompson is a conservative Croatian singer that had been hounded as a "nazi" by the SJW posse for two decades now. He's the ultimate leftist boogeyman that they trot out whenever they can (in between attempts to deplatform or blacklist him from concert venues and music publishers, that is). That was the case at our football team homecoming as well - the players wanted him to sing, the event organizers banned it, but then the coach Zlatko Dalić insisted and they relented "just for a little bit".

[Image: pxl_170718_21401317.jpg?quality=100&...amp;crop=1]

At first the media coverage was only mildly negative, suggesting that it's not really nice Thompson was invited and that they wish Dalić had been more considerate and such, but now they're openly slamming the entire team, calling them dumb, fascist, nazi-fascist-ustaše-loving, disgraceful, marring the celebration and country... generally floating the idea that it would be really great if the Croatian football team was, well, a little less Croatian.

Facepalm2

I've never been a fan of Thompson, ustaše or even nationalism - heck, my own grandparents fought along Tito and his Yugoslav/Communist army in WW2 - but seeing this disgusting propaganda just makes me want to go to a Thompson concert and tell these globalist traitors to fuck off at every opportunity. Thompson isn't a fascist, and frankly even if he were, our players would still have the right to invite whomever they want to their celebration. They earned it, unlike the sanctimonious salon socialists spamming disgusting articles against everything that is Croatian.

This farce is also illustrative of wider European issues - we have a continent full of great people who can achieve so much but are held down by relentless propaganda and brutalized by violence when they get out of bounds.

It won't be that way forever, though. We're waking up.

Za dom - spremni!

HCE right on.

Croatia should never kneel before the traitors and SJW ilk.

The hip hop group NWA sold millions of albums and had controversial songs depicting the challenges in their communities. F the police etc. They received some flack and in the end they didn't care and you have a blockbuster movie about them. Croatians should dig the dagger in deeper and do these sjws and media in.
I'm not a fan of thompson personally but if his songs bring people together and give a big f u to the traitorous bunch I am inclined to support him even more.

Politics getting mixed up in sports. As long as it's the leftist narrative only it's fine. If it's anything else it's fascist even though in this case doesn't meet the litmus test

The ethnic makeup of the Croatian team will not be lost on the (((global elite))). Make no mistake about it: they now see Croatia as a threat to their very existence. That's how deep their feelings of insecurity and aggression run. You can expect a steady stream of international propaganda in the next few years: i.e. The New York Times will start running stories about oppression of gays in Dubrovnic, Neo-Nazi activity, or racism against black tourists. We might even see a call for economic sanctions in the United Nations. I'm willing to bet my life on it.

The only consolation is that the internet is spreading beyond their control. The Democratic exchange of ideas cannot live in conjunction with their authoritarian control of information. We have a digital Samzidat that is, in my much opinion, much more powerful than the alternative presses that existed in various parts of the 20th century: i.e. in Russia, Ukraine, or Germany.
