Cannot stress this enough. Also they should be secluded, tranquil and free of any randoms/weirdos/buzzkills. If you have friends with a beach house/lake house/ski chalet/cabin in the woods, this is where you want to do them. Being inside can be a major buzzkill and make you wig out.

Try and plant for good weather to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. With that said, getting caught in the rain was what led to one of the best trips of my life. Don't forget to drink water. If you puke or take a big shit, no big deal, you'll feel just fine right afterwards.

I have also felt once how we are related to every living thing in some way, obviously this is a kind of trivial thought, but the difference is that when you are tripping you also "feel" it and the visualizations can be pretty amazing too.

Unfortunately, this train of thought does not last long and as soon i enter the "real world" i see that there are mean, mediocre people and i can't maintain that mindset for any more than 1 week, is like if during the trip my brain was tricked with thoughts that may not be correct, but while i was tripping i was very sure that this was the right way to act and live. Does anybody have a similar experience?
Ya, some people use spiritual practices to try to stay in that lovey dovey space where you share an over-soul with all beings. Over time they can have an effect, and you can have some pretty trippy experiences even without the drugs.

Some of those meditations, I believe, also have charismatic value.

But those feelings tend to fade in and out also. Probably neurochemical, along with how our brain tends to make sense out of data to create a “reality” out of it. But as far as illusions go, it seems a good one to choose. Effective towards being happy and making others happy, and towards seduction.

San Francisco- When I goomed (shroomed) I was in utter amazement at the trees, wind, clouds and random natural stuff. I would reach out my hand and look at the sky. The trees, leaves and clouds would breathe in and out. It felt like a scene from 3D avatar. A-freaking-mazing.

Had a mild bad-trip on my 1st time. Lol, its kind of funny now actually. Saw a dachshund walking with a gay owner. ...

[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRGf0q4YMTKd9zxrqYE09Y...mOSE6jVnqw]

I was all messed up, and saw the dog as if it were 3 feet long and the feet were only 4 inches wide. It had a gay owner that was the most naggy, neurotic owner I had ever seen. The gay owner treated this poor dog as a kid, nagging it to come along. Then snapping at it in a high-pitched mom-voice. Poor dog was hobbling along, struggling under the weight of its disproportionate body and small feet. I started crying about how sad it was to be that little dog.

My friend and I booked it out of their stat. I continued sobbing for a good 5 minutes after. The thing is shrooms really opens your eyes/lowers your barriers. Your conscious mind creates mental barriers to prevent emotional stress from accumulating. Thats how I see it. Other people neuorticism is generally no big deal for me, but in my shrooming state I couldn't handle it. I felt tremendous empathy for the dog.

Did anyone else ever feel some sort of dissociation from their ego, perhaps a rudimentary witness consciousness experience, and try to explain to others that "it's not me that's talking"?

It's the strangest experience to watch the words come out of your mouth, know that others won't be able to understand what you mean, but still feel compelled to try to explain the unique experience, and to really feel strongly that it is not you who is talking.

I think Joe Rogan said it best- high dosages of psychedelics are profoundly ego-obliterating. You as an individual w/your preconceptions cease to exist. Your filters are 100% down and you are as a child again.

That's funny DVY. I remember listening to this on repeat and crying like a baby after taking some shrooms. It was weird. I wrote down all these things I need to like talk to my sister more, call my mom and this other sentitmental shit. Then I put a Bruce Lee movie on and was just stuck in it like I was on the set. My friend was talking to me and I just stared at him and couldn't say anything. I was forming words in my head but couldn't get them out lol. That was a bad trip. I felt like I was stuck in a bad place and couldn't get in a good zone. I see y'all are gonna make me get some shrooms and "find myself".
This is the song.

I want to try DMT for this 2013. I have a secluded place in a mountain that is extremely peaceful and relaxing. Im not sure how pure and strong the DMT around here is, but I've heard it makes you trip heavily.

Been getting ready mentally and emotionally for it. I think I am ready and mature enough to experience my first DMT trip.

RE: The power of magic mushrooms
I'm almost ready to grow my own, can't find them anymore. Anyone have experience with the grow kits?

The last time I got a huge amount and went overboard. I was doing them every Friday or Saturday for about two months. I'd pop a handful and head out to the bars, go to parties and concerts or just hang out and meditate. 95% of these were solo trips, nobody had a clue I was on them and I functioned fine, could drive my car, socialize, it was a blast.

The one bad trip during this time was taking a large dose and going to hang out with a few guys and drink beers. I didn't know they were putting on UFC fights and it was brutal. I might as well have jumped on a fucking rollercoaster! I love UFC too but not on mushrooms, it was just pure hate and evil. After two fights I couldn't take it, felt like puking, couldn't even drink a beer and had to wait a couple hours before I could drive home.

What's great about them is they are therapy in the palm of your hand. You will see things and experience stuff on another level and when it's all over you can't help but be happy about life in general. It's like hitting the mental reset button.

It can be a profound spiritual/mystical experience, and if you've never experienced one, now is the best time to start.

I've never tried any psychedelic drug, or any drug for that matter other than plain old THC. The closest I've come to a mind-warping experience was taking Ambien CR and fighting against it until I started hallucinating. I put on my headphones and listened to music and it sounded like the most incredible thing ever.

But to my point, I hear a lot of talk of mysticism and spirituality. And then hearing that Steve Jobs went to India and became a Buddhist and dropped acid all sounds so cliche of the meaning-craved Westerner trying to find it in Indian mysticism or Kabbala or whatever is cool at the moment. Is there really anything "mystical" about these experiences at all? All it's doing is fucking with your brain chemistry and whatever effect that gives people they think it's something spiritually enlightening. That's one of the reasons hippies annoy me. They think smoking a shit load of pot and eating shrooms brings enlightenment. How could ingesting a chemical that artificially distorts your thinking make you enlightened?

I totally get doing it for fun and social reasons or to spark creativity. But I think claiming that it's "spiritual" and all that stuff...Rolleyes

RE: The power of magic mushrooms
I spent a few months in 2011 tripping on shrooms 1-2 times a week, it can really blow the doors open. There was even a study done (the who, what, and where escapes me now, but it can be googled) where psilocybin mushrooms were given to priests in seminary several decades ago, and they all had experiences they called mystical, spiritual, what have you. Moreover, they were contacted decades later to follow up on the experiment, and for all of them, that trip was still a highlight of their spiritual lives. I've done acid before, too, it's pretty fun as well. If you're interested, check out erowid.org, it's got a ton of information.

RE: The power of magic mushrooms
@ speakeasy - here's the thing about psychadelics, especially LSD: there's no other substance on the planet that taking such a tiny amount has such a profound effect on you except some types of deadly poisons, i.e. things that will kill you. The amount of LSD required to radically change your perception of reality would barely fit on the head of a pin. I forget the actual amounts but an eye dropper full of liquid LSD has hundreds of doses in it. LSD also has the unique property that taking it continuously has no effect. If you're on heroin you need to take more and more to feel the effects. If you take LSD every day, after a few days it won't matter how much you take, it won't do anything to you. Only a God would design a drug like that, although it can be abused it's hard to do and you have to be very determined to fry your brain on it.

These things, many which occur naturally, are classified as dangerous and made illegal by governments because they encourage an extremely peaceful mindset. Can't have war, violence, crime, or weapons industries if all everyone wants to do is get along and be happy! You also can't build modern civilization if people are content to live on the beaches and don't care about money or power.

Meaning-craved westerner???

ALL CULTURES SEEK MEANING!! All cultures use plants to increase their sense of spirituality.

This is not a "western" thing. In South America, they use plants (ayuwasca) to create a spiritual experience. In Africa, they use many different plants as part of religious ceremonies. In India, they have been using marijuana and shrooms for thousands of years, same with Asia. Native Indians in North America were using plants long before the Europeans arrived.

In fact that non-western world might be more "meaning seeking" then the western world.

In the west, our meaning is money. Other cultures still seek a deeper meaning.

Damn Speakeasy, you disappoint me brother. I have always considered you to be one of the "more enlightened" members of this forum, but here you just come across as a close-minded, ignorant, "square". It's not your fault though you probably grew up in the DARE generation when Republicans like Ronald Reagan brainwashed you about "drug use."

You are making assumptions and holding an opinion that's based on what...? NOTHING!! You admit that the only "psychadelic" you've take in Ambian CR Laugh, so basically you have no idea what the experience is like, however you seem to disregard and down play the experiences of someone like myself (who has actually tripped shrooms close to 100 times). I am telling you that I've had spiritual mystical experiences, that brought me glimpses of enlightenment on the level of the buddha, but I guess I'm just a drugged up hippy who had "chemicals altering my brain".

In a way you are right the chemical structure of the psilocibin from the mushrooms was effecting my brain and creating a euphoric state of introspective mediation, which brought upon some of the greatest revelations of my life. Truths about the earth, love, life, friendship, hardship, overcoming the ego, overcoming the darkness to enter the light.

In the Matrix, Neo is offered the choice of taking the red-pill and seeing the truth of the world and existence as it truly is, and taking the blue-pill is remaining in the comforting world of illusion, a safe place, but without realizing the true nature of reality. In many ways taking psychadelics (esp. mushrooms) is the same thing, you are opening the "doors of perception" and taking your mind to another level. A level that people in the blue-pill (square) world will never experience. A world for those who seek a deeper experience and meaning to life, where you transcend the average and ordinary, don't you want to live life to the fullest, and experience all the amazing things you can experience.

Some of my greatest life experiences have been under the influence of psilocibin mushrooms, you can judge me and formulate whatever opinion you want about that, consider me a drugged out pathetic hippie loser who needs drugs to be happy or give life meaning. If you thought that I would just pity you.

If you could have experienced hiking through Rincon de la Vieja in Costa Rica to the Blue Lagoon, or riding camels and climbing to the top of a sand dune in the Sahara desert to watch the sunset, and then trip out watching shooting stars all night in the clearest shy where you can see the entire milkyway galaxy in its glory while the bedoin berbers play the most amazing beat on the drums and sing and chant in an ancient language, I experienced these things and more on shrooms and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything in life.

Furthermore as Giovonny already stated indigenous cultures throughout the world throughout time, till this very day(!) use natural plant hallucigens to achieve states of enlightenment. The Huichol who make the sacred pilgrimage across the Sierra Madre Occidental to receive the blessing of the holy Peyote plant, the Machiguenga of the Amazon River basin in S. America who injest the Ayahuasca vine for their visionary sacred rituals.

But I guess if a white boy from the good old USA wants to expand his mind and have a "spiritual" or "mystical" experience by taking sacred mind expanding plants, he's a a "cliche hippy poser" who's following some SWPL trend of "finding meaning in life". He'll probably be back to shopping at IKEA, surfing wifi on his apple laptop at starbuck, and drive home in his Volkswagon Passat. Your way of thinking is "reverse racism" in my book, to think you have to be some indigenous tribesman in the Amazon in order to be able to meaningfully take psychadelic plants in throughly flawed and coming from an ignorant place of ethnocentric thought.

So take whatever you want from my rant, but Speakeasy you would benefit greatly from a mushroom trip, trust me, you'll thank me later. Don't be afraid to expand your mind. You only live on this earth once, we must experience our lives to the fullest. Speaking of which my next mushroom trip will be in a couple months at the Mayan ruin of Palenque, is that a "cliche hippie poser" thing to do?

RE: The power of magic mushrooms
Haven't tried shrooms yet, but I've done acid a few times. Thing with acid these days is the average dose is about 1/4 what it used to be, so if you want the full effect that you would have expected from reading about hippies in the 60s, you have to take a fair bit. Though you can get "double dipped" tabs, etc. I've tried this, and god damn, it's the most incredible experience. I want to try this during the day, or go out clubbing or something on acid.

Personally, I feel the stigma behind having a bad trip on a lower dose is mostly bs. I understand someone taking a large dose, not knowing what's going on and freaking out, but for the doses dealt out today (with acid at least) it's not something that should be happening. I don't really know any genuine people that don't bs or attention whore constantly who have had a bad trip.

Definitely keen on trying some shrooms though, all reports I've ever heard of just makes it sound like something I'd love.

EDIT: Also done DMT a few times. Great stuff, highly recommend it to anyone.

How do you guys define life changing?

I've met some people on the road who probably had their brain fried from too many drugs. Definitely don't want that to happen.

But I am somewhat interested in doing something like shrooms, but would need a lot of research first. Any good ressources?

Quite often it gives you a new perspective on life and those around you, and you just interact and relate with people differently.

If you want to do some online research check out erowid's archives. Tons of useful info. Best bet if you're going to try them, is to do it with someone who's experienced it a few times already, though, or if you don't know any, make sure there's at least 1 sober person you can trust with you/your friends.

This post is funny

Just try some psychedelics, after experiencing them you will be able to tell if it is spiritual or not.

I don't think it is fair to yourself to draw a conclusion without trying the stuff

RE: The power of magic mushrooms
I got some shit to do so I'll keep this short, I'd say some profound effects of mushrooms can include great appreciation and connection to nature, revelations about who you are as a person (your shortcomings, strengths, weakness, issues, repressed memories and emotions), it can really challenge you to take an honest look at yourself, and confront your ego.

Mushrooms can really enhance your experience with art and music, listening to the best of The Doors album on my first trip back in high school in a dark candle lit room with a couple buddies was great in itself.

Not every trip will be a spiritual mystical experience, although they usually are for me. A lot of it depends on who you are and what your mentality is going into the trip. Some people just see visuals in the form of enhanced colors, patterns, etc., others giggle, laugh, and have a lot of fun. Shit, back in high school I went to see Austin Powers Goldmember on shrooms with my older brother and a couple friends and laughed my ass off the entire time, even though now in retrospect I know it was a pretty crap movie.

Anyways, shrooms can get you really philosophical, questioning the meaning of life, questioning your beliefs, open you up to new perspectives, make you feel an intense state of love, connectivity, etc. These are just some examples.

I don't get why you guys are so scared to expand your minds, the experience usually only last 4 to 8 hours and then you "come back to reality". Taking psychadelics can be like traveling to a foreign third world country for a lot of guys. It requires you to go outside your comfort zone, it makes you nervous, and anxious about the unknown, but those are just weaknesses in the forum of fear, that can easily be overcome for the sake of personal enhancement.

What about bad childhood memories? Would some fucked up shit surface and if yes, in a good or bad way?

RE: The power of magic mushrooms
I just watched the movie documentary about DMT on Netflix, wasn't that good. Had alot of people using alot of big words.. but it did have account from people who did the drug. It doesnt sound anything like the Acid or XTC trips I have had.

Acid an XTC together.... good times!! You get the trip from the Acid an the happiness from the XTC. Had some great visuals one night from "candy flippin" thats what we call it.

I got some anxiety going on in my life at the moment, once its gone im gonna try shrooms. I get sketched out just smoking pot lately :/
