Best place in Canada for 21 year old to move to, Canadian Major cities
So I'm 21 from the prairies and never really liked it out there to tell the truth. I've been moving around a lot lately just trying to get by and now I'm working on my own online business which is starting to do good. So I'm wondering on where in Canada or which Canadian Major cities would be good to settle in. Right now I'm focused on Montreal and Vancouver. Montreal just seems like such a happy place with people just haveing a good time and it's also much cheaper then Vancouver. Vancouver is really nice nature and weather wise (at least compare to the rest of Canada) but it's really expensive.

Honestly moving around lately and not having a strong social circle from my childhood has kinda of made me feel kind of depressed lately. So another important part of the place I move to is I would want the ability to form some kind of bonds. I hear Vancouver is bad for this since it is very cliquey, is Montreal much better in this regard? I hear Montreal has a much younger more lively crowd to.

Obviously quality of girls in the city will be a big part to, I hear Montreal girls are the best looking in Canada with the best personalities to. How do the others stack up?

Basically what I'm wondering is which city in Canada do you guys think is best for a 21 year old to move to, to settle and lay some roots and just enjoy life.

Do you speak French?

I'd go to Montreal. It's more affordable, more unique culture, bigger, more business, more nightlife.

Yeah Montreal is probably my top choice right now. How do you feel about Toronto tho? Bigger then Montreal and I guess it's like the flagship Canadian city.

Used to live in the country/small town absolutely hated it. Might do that when I'm way older and just want to be left completely alone tho. But if you have some places you think would be good I'm always open to suggestions really want to find a good place to move to so really open to hearing anything.

You would probably get more quantity and quality of responses if you tell us more about your background, priorities, interests, and any dealbreakers (like weather, expenses, etc.).

I don't know what OP's stats are (bankroll, looks, whether he likes urban or rural, how old he is, etc.) - but my favorite city in the world is Montreal. It's pretty cheap (at least compared to American cities), women there are trendy and hip, and it's truly a world class city in every respect. Lots of energy too.

I'm from the country, so I'll just stereotype you as if you were myself.

Being from the country, you might not need a big city to enjoy the benefits. For you some good bars, a nice selection of chicks, some basic amenities and a few coffee shops to do your business will work well.

I worked and lived for awhile in Kingston, scenic town, easy to meet girls for a country guy. You can meet some locals or mix with the university babes. I found people there very inviting, whether it was beers or out to their cottage. I believe it is 2nd largest retirement spot next to victoria BC, gives you an idea how nice and chill it is.

If you decide to learn French, why not immerse yourself and get the full French experience in Quebec City. Its a cold winter, but lots of beautiful French girls. The most European feel you can get in Canada.

Its on you to decide, but I would agree with Scotian that you should check out all your options. I haven't been all over the country but to me these would be nice options.

Montreal would be my only suggestion.

There are two universities there and the city is cheap.

Toronto isn't for you, based on what you have said.

If you have money, then I would say come on down.

Scotian knows Canada more than most guys on this forum, so I would listen to what he has to say.

You don't necessarily need to speak French to make it in Montreal. Like others have said, a lot of suggestions will depend on what your ultimate goals are.

I'll throw a suggestion out of left-field. Your age is possibly working in your favor when it comes to living in Vancouver.

If I was interested in gaming, having a good time, and getting in on the ground level in Vancouver cliques, I would consider living in university residence.

I'm not sure what UBC Res has for rules these days, but that is what I would check on first. In many cases, they open up some of the residence choices to "students" who are neither regular nor full-time. So, you could be taking a language or real estate class at Robson Square and you can get in to the student residence selection. They probably won't let you stay in Totem or Vanier (those are for full-time undergrads, generally), but you don't want to stay there anyway. You want to aim for Fairview Crescent or better. If you can get in there, you are talking about paying (possibly) a few hundred bucks a month to live at Point Grey. You are in an extremely nice area and only a few minutes from downtown Vancouver by bus or car.

You could consider a slight variation of this and try to get in to a house-share around Kits Beach. There are a lot of students who rent out 5/6/7/8 bedroom houses in this area and they are often looking for another roommate.

For your consideration, a few websites:

http://vancouverhomestayagency.com/
https://canadahomestaynetwork.ca/
https://www.rentboard.ca/rentals/student...locid=1040
http://www.eslrent.com/
https://www.search4studenthousing.com/
https://www.uvrentsline.com/

I have seen several people go the student(ish) housing route to live in Vancouver on the cheap. If you are looking to have a good time in the city and keeping your budget in control, it is probably the best way to go. I assume (from your age) that you aren't looking to grab a condo in the Shangri-La (yet).

If you are looking elsewhere, obviously avoid Hastings and anything on that side of the waterfront. I would also avoid the 'burbs or Surrey. That's a fairly boring area to be in. North Vancouver might actually be a better choice at that point, as you will be able to get a nice place for much cheaper than the city-side of the bay.

As for women, what do you like? Montreal has more sexually-open, warmer white girls. There are also (my experience) more brown girls in Montreal (Indian, Pakistani, etc.). Vancouver is called Hongcouver for a reason. If you like Asians, go West young man. Mainlanders, Hongkongers, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese. They are all there. If you like the banana-types, they are all over the place. If you like FOB Asian girls, hit up UBC and SFU.

That's all I've got for now.

If I was 21 and good with girls, definitely I would move to Montreal if I were you no question. PM me if you have any questions regarding the districts and good areas.

Quebec City is also very nice, but you really need french there. It's more beautiful than Montreal though and like a big village, the girls are nicer. You will learn french very quickly but you might want to immerse yourself in Montreal for a few months and then decide if Quebec City is for you by visiting. Public transport is not as good as Montreal but it's pretty dense so you might not need it if you live near old town.

In winter, you could try moving to world class ski resorts and live the seasonaire life in Whistler or Banff.

Halifax is heard is also fun

Montreal also has more black chicks since I reckon a lot of them are transplants from France, Francophone Africa and Haiti.

Most women in Canada are online game only, if I am not mistaken. You want to be in a major metropolitan and Montreal is probably the most ideal one. Don't believe the infamy of Toronto because Toronto I am guessing probably has easy ethnic chicks (it's just most of the PUA community is obsessed about railing blonde women. And white chicks in Toronto are infamously prudish).

If you're less focused about chicks and willing to experiment with day game then I could recommend Victoria BC. Victoria BC often has more women than men because most of the local men there are strong tradies who relocate to areas with better trade jobs.

Why so passive aggressive? I thought Canadians were supposed to be nice, friendly and polite. I guess you must be an east coaster.

I spent decades in the western half. The eastern half is largely an unknown thing. If you're Canadian then you know it's cheaper to fly to Europe / Asia than it is within Canada (especially on a $/kilometer basis).

Canadian chicks are strongly all about online game and you rarely see them in bars or walking alone. Yeah if you're forced to be in Canada then it's probably Montreal for a 1st tier city and 2nd tier probably places on Vancouver Island or the Maritimes. Otherwise if you aren't forced to be in Canada then book the first plane ticket out and never look back to that overpriced frozen tundra.

You got me bud, I guess my forum name gave it away eh. You’ve been making posts in several threads on subjects that you’re not well informed on, such as this one about Colombian and Mexican women: https://www.rooshvforum.com/thread-46342...pid1843748

It’s better to not post than to post ill informed opinions based on what you’ve heard or internet searches.

“Canadian chicks are strongly all about online game and you rarely see them in bars or walking alone.” This simply isn’t true, yes some date online but I wouldn’t say that they’re strongly all about it, they still go to bars/pubs/clubs and they walk alone on the street. What evidence do you have to suggest that they don’t?

God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!

RE: Best place in Canada for 21 year old to move to, Canadian Major cities
I moved to Vancouver when I was 21. I don't regret it. I lived in Edmonton, Calgary and rural northern Alberta towns. I spent a lot of time on the family ranch in SK as well.

Vancouver is fun for a young buck who don't give a fuck. Its miserable for guys who need to keep their mouth shut for fear of messing up their work place. Its booming for trades guys, and you could probably have a dozen jobs here in minutes if you have a skill.

Women are super hot but the top tier rides almost exclusively with top tier men. No shock there. But there are insane amounts of prairie and small town girls who move to Vancouver every year and end up working shitty service jobs and are still not quite comfortable riding new dick every night. This is the magic spot for the young and bold.

Price wise, just go with what you can afford. I spent 9 years in a busted ass slum in the DTES, dealing with crack dealing neighbors, chainsaw carving Indians, methed out tranny hookers, and a sweet 85 year old Italian woman who's son made us all wine. The Vietnamese refrigeration guy and his family would howl karaoke on weekends shitfaced and local bums would beat the shit out of each other for bottles.

But this was another time, when 21yo guys lived where they could afford instead of packing into a luxury condo downtown with 5 other guys like a bunch of Indian H1-B guys in San Fran. No one gets laid, everyone hates each other because you can't even look at porn on your phone in the shitter without some guy banging on the door.

*I have never lived in Montreal, but people there seem like they are miserable with zero ambition. Its why housing is so cheap and they drink wine all day. What else do they have?

I'll echo what NoMoreTO said; does it have to be a big city? If, as you say, you're coming from small town/rural, then you might be quite satisfied with what a lower-tier city has to offer.

When I moved to Winnipeg from Montreal in the late 90s, it felt like a small town with little to offer. However there was a guy I worked with who had moved there from his hometown The Pas, and he confided in me he was "having trouble getting used to living in the big city." Kind of funny to think we were talking about the same place.

If you opted for a smaller city, I would say make sure you are only an hour or two away from somewhere similar, or bigger.

If you can pick up the French quickly enough, Quebec City could be a good choice.

Montreal is probably your best bet. I quite enjoyed Toronto, but the amount of flack that city gets on here is probably no coincidence, and I was rolling with people I knew, so didn't get the full experience.

Montreal has a lot of cool cultural stuff, it's kinda like a city from Europe in Canada. I am a big fan of it. Don't come to any land-locked 4th tier cities, I am working my way out of one right now.
