Mexico City - the Paris of the Americas or a chaotic clusterfuck?
These are my impressions after approximately two months in Mexico City. I will start with the conclusion and then go into each point in detail.

Conclusion
If you can
- Deal with the reality of living in a city like Mexico City
- Are fine with settling with a 7
- and looking for something more serious
then Mexico City could be the place for you. Otherwise, it is most likely not.

Deal with the realities of living in a city like Mexico City.

Mexico City is huge but you probably already know that. However, people like to tell you on the internetz that there are certain parts of the city, where you can escape the trouble and live a great peaceful ‘European’ life. Hell, this city even gets compared to Paris - more about that later. People usually call these areas Condesa, Roma or Polanco. While I haven’t lived in Polanco, I have lived in Condesa and Roma during my stay and I definitely cannot agree with this sentiment.

Maybe you can have a peaceful life when you walk in circles on Avenida Amsterdam the whole day but once you leave these little side streets, you will be confronted by the reality that is living in Mexico City. First of all there is an incredible amount of noise. Apparently everyone is allowed to just grab a megaphone and walk/drive through the streets to advertise whatever they have. This phenomenon is hard to explain and you have to experience it yourself but you constantly hear some people shouting stuff around through their speakers, may it be for collecting metal parts, selling fruits or just other random stuff. Besides that, you have an extreme amount of traffic and plenty of street food vendors, of whom many like to play music at their stands. The sum of all of this is an ocean of unpleasant noise, which I haven’t experienced in any other city like this. It is pretty much impossible to enjoy peacefulness or silence every now and then because the noises continue even at night (on a lower level). Mexico City is not just huge, it is also extremely noisy.

So, someone ‘smart’ at Huffington Post wrote 'Why Mexico could be the next Paris.'. Why do journalists always have to write that ‘x will be the next y’? This one is especially ridiculous though. While Paris surely has lost some of its glory in the last decades, comparing Mexico City to Paris is quite an insult to the latter. Sure, Mexico City has a lot of museums and a few nice buildings but it cannot compare to major European cities on any level when it comes to architecture or culture. Yes, there are many museums but quantity isn’t quality. I have visited 4 or 5 of them and then stopped, because most of the exhibitions were frankly speaking rubbish. The same goes for the music scene unfortunately. I was mildly excited for this city, because I like music concerts a lot, and there are plenty of them in this city but jeez, most of these bands should go back to the rehearsal room for a while before playing gigs. The same goes for the DJs in the electronic music clubs. They were very average, not to say bad. I’ve visited probably 10-12 local concerts and parties and none of the artists stuck with me. Too bad, I had really been excited about that. Anyone who is used to a good music scene from his city, will have a hard time to find something worthwhile here, even though there are plenty of shows happening pretty much every day.

Now you got a big and noisy city with a lot of average cultural offerings. How would you price that? If Mexico City was cheap, I could live with the points stated above. But it is not. The rates you pay in Condesa and Roma for rooms or apartments are quite high and make this city very overpriced to me. 800-1000 USD for a decent 1br apartment, 350-450 USD for a decent room? Why not just move to Berlin or a second-tier city in Europe? You would get higher quality of culture, prettier girls and less noise for the same price or even less.

Not all is bad about the city. If you like fatty and heavy food, there are plenty of very cheap and tasty options around. Watch out for traveller’s diarrhoea and choose food vendors with caution. On Sundays the streets get blocked, which means less noise and the ability to explore the city via bike. In general you can rent bikes for very cheap and explore the city that way. There are pretty much all international brands available in this city, so shopping is easy. Even electronics can be purchased at normal prices, which is a distinction to the rest of Latin America. Flights to the U.S. are cheap, same with flights to other Mexican cities. If your Spanish is bad, you could easily find people who speak very decent English.

Okay, so about the girls:

Fine with settling with a 7

Beauty is a rare occurrence in Mexico City. You will see very few beautiful people in everyday life. The average girl in Mexico City is a 4-5. There are 6s and 7s but after that there seems to be a glass ceiling. I have seen very very very few 8s during my stay there. Maybe around 20 in 2 months. In Eastern Europe, on central squares, you can sometimes see 20 8s within 30 minutes. To further develop this comparison, I would argue that you could take a random girl from the streets in Ukraine and there is a good chance that she will be in the top 5% in Mexico City. Keep in mind: I’m saying this with a HUGE fetish for latinas. Any girl with dark hair and dark eyes already gets a +1 from me.

I have visited
- art galleries
- museums
- rock concerts
- jazz events
- tech events
- parks
- malls
- supermarkets
- gyms

Any kind of place you could imagine but there were simply pretty much no attractive girls around. The only place where I saw several 8s at once was at techno parties. Now, if you have been to a techno party, you know that they are very bad for meeting girls. They are dark, loud, people come with their friends and primarily to dance and not to talk to other people. So if you come to CDMX to meet an 8, I wish you good luck. The main challenge will be actually finding one. Of the ones that I saw 90% were in the company of a guy. It is simply not a reality that you see a beautiful girl walking around by herself in Mexico City. I have not seen it happening at all.

A few fun facts about the few 8s that I saw. It might be a coincidence but a majority of the 8s that I saw were with a guy that I would describe like this:
Long hair guy, who has something of an artist touch about him. Think of Kurt Cobain or Thom Yorke or Russel Brand. Could be the frontman or guitar player in a rock band. Bonus points if slightly fucked up and/or feminine aura. It is really obvious: Guys with long hair and beard are doing really well here. The percentage of this type of guy is also way higher than anywhere else I’ve been to so far. My female friend said the following about this: She claimed that in the last few years it had become a trend in Mexico City that the girls are really into this type of guy. And her theory is that the guys who look like that, have found out about it and are coming here now, since they know that they will be doing well.

In Europe, normally the fit guys with short hair take home the girls but here in Mexico City there seems to be a strong preference for the artistic and androgynous long hair guy. Pretty much every girl here loves Kurt Cobain. Just talk to them about it and you will see. In general there seems to be very little appreciation for physical fitness. People here simply don’t care. You pretty much see no guys who are fit. Girls also aren’t fit. If a girl is pretty, it’s because she has a cute face but there aren’t any fit bodies around. If you like well-toned, fit bodies, this place is completely wrong for you. Even in the gym that I visited, 80% of the girls were quite out of shape. I maybe saw 1 or 2 girls in the gym, who I would consider ‘fit’. Obviously the national diet plays its parts, since it mostly consists of heavy food.

So, now what about the girls who aren’t 8s?

Looking for something more serious

I’ve got to be honest: It was very easy to hook up with girls who weren’t 8s. Most of the time, all you had to do was to show up. At any club or bar that you went to, after 10 minutes, you could tell which girls liked you and then all you had to do was to say hi and take it from there. ONS also weren’t a problem and happened several times. However: These ONS usually came with a caveat. Every girl that I hooked up with was looking for something more than just hookups. It wasn’t this Western mindset of uncommitted fun but rather girls were hoping for a relationship.

In general I got the impression that the girls in Mexico City were quite relationship-oriented and saw the sex just as a first step towards this direction. Since I was just looking for fun (due to my limited time in the city), I burned a few girls on the 3rd / 4th meeting when it came to this topic. After a while I started saying that I wouldn’t know yet how long I would stay, in order to not burn my leads so fast. So yes, if you are looking for something serious, this is the place. The girls were very much not bitchy or flaky or playing games or anything like that. They always showed up (more or less on time), responded to messages, played it real, etc. Definitely the place to find a LTR. Talking about sex. The sex I had here was very average. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. Obviously if 90% of the girls aren’t fit, it’s difficult to have amazing sex. Most of them didn’t really know how to use their bodies or lacked a bit of craziness or unexpectedness in the sheets. Since they are ‘latinas’ officially, I had different expectations.

Day-game:
As I said, very tough in this city. Definitely NOT in Condesa or Roma, because there are hardly people on the street, besides food vendors. I would go to the Centro Historico and just go for the masses. Try fashion stores.

Night-game:
Haven’t really been to table clubs or high-end bars. I go out to have fun and listen to music that I like. That’s normally a good way to meet girls with similar interests. It’s possible here as well (I got most of my lays from night-game) but the girls aren’t that pretty on average.

Online-game:
I really don’t believe in using OG to meet women, because it tells me that something is fishy about her, as long as she hasn’t just moved to the city. Attractive, interesting, well-integrated, non-sluts have simply no need to use OG, because they will have plenty of options from their natural environment.

I’m mostly using tinder travel to get a rough idea of how desired I am in a certain market. I know it’s flawed but it’s a rough indicator. I got very few matches in CDMX compared to other cities in L.A. I got way more and more beautiful matches in other cities in L.A. and even in apparently ‘difficult’ countries like Argentina. Whatever the logic is behind that…

There are some beautiful girls on tinder in CDMX but you will see very quickly that they are only there to grow their Instagram follower counts, so I doubt if they even live in the city. (Mexico City has a history of being ‘used’ to grow social accounts. The same happened with Spotify ‘clicks’ in the past.)

Conclusion
So what’s the overall conclusion?

I don’t think Mexico City is a horrible place but it didn’t vibe with me at all. I find the city way too noisy, chaotic and simply lacking beauty. There are very very few beautiful girls and most of them are in the hands of some guy, who’s been around longer than you. If you don’t care about that and you are fine with settling with a 6 or 7, you shouldn’t have a hard time doing so. The girls in Mexico city are easy to hook up with and play it real for the most part. On the other hand: If you are a Jesus-type long-hair guy and you like rather unfit girls with cute faces, who are into drinking craft beer and going to rock concerts, then you could come here and have a good time. Just don't expect any stunners.

If I would come to Mexico City again? Most likely no.

End of report
For those who read this report, where would you recommend me to go next?

I’m looking for more fire, more beauty and just more raw sexual energy - the crowd in Mexico City felt very plain to me - pretty much not latin. A place where you can meet beautiful girls on the streets. I love day game and this was pretty much not possible in CDMX. I think I will head to Colombia next but I heard that it’s a lot of pay to play there (directly or indirectly) and that older guys with money do a lot better. I understand that money goes a long way in L.A. (like in most parts of the world) but I would like to reduce this element as much as possible, because I don’t enjoy transactional relationships very much.

I’m in my 20s, so I’m looking for nice college girls, who want to have a good time with someone who they like for their personality and their looks. This is usually the easiest with middle class girls, who don’t need you as an ATM but also don’t have the spoiled attitudes of upper-class girls. However, there seems to be very little middle class in Latin America. Right now I’m considering going to Argentina or Uruguay, since they seem to have the largest middle class in L.A. Any recommendations on where to go next?

A lot of girls in Mexico City look similar to her. She has a quite common face type

A cute, slightly alternative, potentially foreign girl in Mexico City would be something along these lines:

This girl would be top 1% in Mexico City

OP,

Just from what I have read here the places that seem to be ones you should consider in no particular order:

1. Costa Rica- Beach, tropical affordable and fun girls
2. Chile- growing country with growing middle class but girls not known to be as beautiful as Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina.
3. Colombia- hot girls and more conservative than other places, but safety can be an issue
4. Brazil- hot girls, crime and a very sexual culture
5. Argentina- hot girls but heavy on social circles and repressed sexually compared to Brazil
6. Cuba- seems to be growing in popularity because it is very affordable.
7. Major western cities will also attract a lot of Latinas for work or school. Perhaps this ends up being the best compromise of factors for you.

RE: Mexico City - the Paris of the Americas or a chaotic clusterfuck?
Very good analysis. I can provide some feedback.

Yes, the city is huge, crowded and extremely noisy. Mexico City is a big capital from a developing country. If you want a green landscape with peace and quietness, then you should go to Canadian and European mid sized cities.
--
“Maybe you can have a peaceful life when you walk in circles on Avenida Amsterdam the whole day” Correct, or if you take an uber to Polanco in NOT RUSH hour. Traffic is brutal, and public transport is extremely crowded. Think of Tokyo but the people are brown and fat.

The museums and art scene is competitive with any city in Latin America, if not superior. It is also competitive with many medium sized cities in the USA. Of course, Mexico City is NOT Amsterdam or Berlin, and you should not expect such.

--
“The rates you pay in Condesa and Roma for rooms or apartments are quite high and make this city very overpriced to me. 800-1000 USD for a decent 1br apartment, 350-450 USD for a decent room? Why not just move to Berlin or a second-tier city in Europe?”

Condesa, Roma or Polanco are the most civilized parts of the city. The rest of the city is even more chaotic, uglier and less safe. Prices in such areas are high due to the influx of foreigners that rent short term. 98% of the Mexican population cannot even comprehend how people pay 500 usd for a room, this is a rich country with poor people. Of course, there are other neighborhoods ½ or even 1/3 of such prices, like Narvarte or Del Valle. They are 20 mins uber from Condesa or Polanco (in NOT rush hour). They are clean, safe and of course, boring. No cafes, art galleries or interesting stores, but they have dozens and dozens of excellent taco places. Delicious tacos all around over there, but not cafés where you can take a chemex while on your laptop.

--
The food in Mexico City is, in flavor, variety, quality and price, competitive with ANY city in the world. I cannot stress this enough. You can have the best Mexican, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, polish, Russian, Colombian or Argentinian dishes in Mx.

--
“Beauty is a rare occurrence in Mexico City. You will see very few beautiful people in everyday life. The average girl in Mexico City is a 4-5. There are 6s and 7s but after that there seems to be a glass ceiling. I have seen very very very few 8s during my stay there. Maybe around 20 in 2 months.”

Yes, correct. But then again, this again is not Eastern Europe. Colombian girls are way better, but the quality of services, food, culture and safety of the cities is way inferior to Mexico City. Brazilian girls are much more sexual, but if Mexico City was dirty and chaotic for you, then Brasil will seem like a jungle.

--
“In general there seems to be very little appreciation for physical fitness”.
Absolutely correct. There is no cultural aesthetic ideal or interest in physical fitness, like it would be in Colombia or Venezuela. It is not a matter of money, but education

--
“I’ve got to be honest: It was very easy to hook up with girls who weren’t 8s. ONS also weren’t a problem and happened several times. However: These ONS usually came with a caveat. Every girl that I hooked up with was looking for something more than just hookups.” Correct too. Attitude of the girls is a mixture between western and traditional values, at least before they reach 30. In the interior of Mexico, ONS are way less frequent.

--
“Day-game”. Forget about day game in Mexico City. Distances are huge, commutes long, everyone is working or in a hurry, and women are not attractive enough for them to congregate in any meaningful quantities in any area.

--
Mexico City is good for 3 or 6 months, eating like a king and knowing the culture, beaches and pre-hispanic history. You cannot really come here for women, where Brasil or Colombia simply have more openly sexual, hot and attractive women, and prices are similar or lower to Mexico City.

OP...do you speak Spanish or any other foreign languages?

That could be a strong variable as to whether you can actually capitalize off of higher beauty standards when searching for greener pastures.

RE: Mexico City - the Paris of the Americas or a chaotic clusterfuck?
Thanks for the feedback guys! Really appreciate it.
@germanico: Not sure what exactly you mean. You could replace 'people' with 'girls you would like to approach', if that would come closer to reality for you.
@TIOT12: Appreciate the list
@Ternarydemonite: Interesting to hear your feedback and glad that my brain isn't totally lying to me
@Brosemite: Yes I do speak Spanish good enough to make myself be understood

I actually wanted to add more things to the first post, as they pop into my head, but now I see that you can only edit a post for max 1 hour, so I've got to put them here. Since I can't fit them into the original post, they will look a bit random next to each other.

Lots of gay guys and trannies
Probably more gay guys and trannies than in any other city I've been to so far and I've lived in some cities, which are considered 'gay capitals'. Especially the higher class has lots of gay guys. I have no problem with neither of them at all, however I do find it more difficult to have friendships with gay guys, because you never know how things get interpreted. It also happened to me in CDMX. Became friends with several gay guys and one of them offered me to hook up with him after two weeks, although I had stated that I wasn't gay. His approach was: "You could try something new". After I declined, his interest in me vanished a lot. Let's say it like this: If a gay guy likes you, he will go out of his way to introduce you to his friends, take you to parties, etc. However you might have an awkward conversation at one point.

Supermarkets are meeh, markets are great
The most common supermarket SUMESA is not really well equipped and things are quite pricey. The markets, like Mercado Medellin, are great though and offer fresh produce and dry food for very competitive prices.

Not very many foreigners around
Even in hotspots like Condesa or Roma, you don't see A LOT of foreigners, which is nice I guess. The ones you meet are nice but don't hope for hot girls. The typical foreigner girl is blonde, tall 6 from US/Canada/Germany/ etc.

Most Mexicans I interacted with were rather plain and charmless
In the West we have this idea of latinos as talkative and charming. Always up for a chat and easy to put a smile on your face. And in fact, if you meet most Spaniards or Italians, that holds true. However, it didn't really match the people here in Mexico City. Most Mexicans were not very talkative, nor funny or charming. The difference became even more stark, whenever you had a chat with a Colombian, Chilean, Argentinian, etc. Instantly you felt more energy and positivity rising up.

Pretty tough to find guy-friends
The abundance of gay guys and also general charmlessness of most Mexicans made it tough for me to find guys, I would be interested to become friends with. I think that's a huge one, if you consider to stay somewhere long-term. Obviously hanging out with other foreigners is an option but then you end up living in a bubble.

Girls are very emotional
Game here is very straightforward: Speak as much Spanish as you can and be nice. Whenever I tried to be cocky or funny, it always just backfired. The girls here don't appreciate that at all and if you mostly game in Western countries, it will be difficult to turn off the asshole in you. This is the place where you could write some weird ass poem in broken Spanish and read it to your girl and she would think you are super cute. That wouldn't work in every country. Two girls also deleted me from WhatsApp / unfriended me on Facebook, because I didn't respond to their messages for a few days. That just meant: I'm thinking about you, I'm trying to forget, that's why I'm deleting you, please contact me. I wouldn't worry too much about it, even if you might not be used to it from home.

Older women show interest
I'm in my 20s and normally get little to no attention from women older than me. Here it was very different. I got a lot of attention from women around the end of their 20s, beginning of 30s. And to be fair, some of them looked pretty fine for their age. If I had to stay here for longer, that might be a demographic I would focus on.

RE: Mexico City - the Paris of the Americas or a chaotic clusterfuck?
I spent 4 months in CDMX this year and while I agree on a lot of what you wrote (specially about the serious lack of attractive women) I really don't agree that its a chaotic clusterfuck, not by a mile.

Have you been to any other developing countries in the world? cdmx is like one of the few cities in Latin America with a functional public transportation system, even bike sharing programs and electrical scooters, etc. Things generally "just work" which is not something you can always say in the developing world.
Its easy to stay away from the areas that are truly busy, like the old center which is only for tourist shit anyway.

IMO overall a relatively well ran but yes a mega city, with a shit ton of people. (21 million in the metro area)

Also regarding money - I think the value is great. $800-1000 for a 1 bedroom in condesa/roma is somewhat pricey yes, but can you really find much cheaper than that in any major city of the world? Where?
(Btw if you are staying long term vs airbnb, cost goes down dramatically. My friend is paying $500 for a 1BR on avenida amsterdam)
And you can fill your stomach for $2 with incredible street food, $3 sitdown lunches at the comida corrida joints, wash it down with some $1-2 beers and mezcales if you know where to go. Even "nice" restaurants wont cost more than $10-15 a person.

I will definitely go back to Mexico City, even if having a steady supply of hot girls is harder than in other places. There's a lot of good things going on for this city and country. The culture is unique and rich, food is fucking incredible, people are fun and easy going. Just gotta look a bit harder for the hot girls but they exist.

So you went to Condesa and were upset because you didn't see 8+ material?

You find that in Polanco, Lomas, and the Pedregal zones.....not hipster-ass Condesa and Roma.

Thank you for your input.

I guess it really depends on your frame of comparison. You are right, I haven't been to third-world cities yet, so this is to me 'the worst' I have seen so far.

When I am judging prices, I look at Europe, where you have a lot of really cool tier 2 cities with very low rents. For someone coming from the US, Australia, etc. rents might still be very reasonable in Mexico City.

I'm sure that you are right with what you say but if I had to move to an upper-class neighbourhood just to see 8s, then I would be in the wrong city for myself. Not only do I think it would be an uphill battle trying to date an upper-class girl, I also normally prefer middle-class girls personality-wise.

Even in Polanco they weren't nearly as abundant, you would have to go to the top end clubs to see decent looking girls. Out and about you won't see that many to make the rents worthwhile (assuming you were mainly interested in the women).

That said, while CDMX was a big disappointment in terms of average quality of women, the city as a whole is pretty fun. Lots to see and do, tons of culturally interesting things not far outside the city, amazing restaurants (especially in Polanco) on par with the best even in NYC (and I lived in Manhattan for several years) etc etc.

Come to Mexico City for everything but the women. For that, go to cities in Colombia/Brazil/EE/wherever else really. Heck, even in Mexico itself Guadalajara is a million times better than CDMX for poon. I've heard that Monterrey also delivers but I've never been there so can't speak to that from first hand experience.

And yes, Spanish will definitely help a ton...

RE: Mexico City - the Paris of the Americas or a chaotic clusterfuck?
The thing about CDMX is that abundance is there is a lack of abundance of talent but the accessibility to the top tier is very high. For me that's what makes it stand out. In addition, it is the biggest city in the Western Hemisphere so each and every experience in the city will vary, from my experience I saw 8's and even 9's in the right places, I also have very good Mexican connects in the upper classes too so this may also be why. If you go out on the street you won't find beautiful women but if you make the right connections then it's a different story. But yes I agree with many of these points but for me I still think this is alongside with NY my favourite city in the world.

RE: Mexico City - the Paris of the Americas or a chaotic clusterfuck?
The main issue is that, with connects to the upper classes, yes you can meet beautiful women in almost any large city in the world. Still, some of the reasons guys go to South Asia, Colombia, Brazil and some parts of Eastern Europe is that common middle class young women are reasonably accesible and attractive by having your personal game and shit together, without the need of connects brought by expensive lifestyle.

Mexico City offers quite little bang for the buck in that sense, since cost of living in centric parts is almost the same as Spain, but overall quality of common middle class talent does not compare even to Vietnam or Philippines.

Definitely baddies all day long in Polanco and I was surprised at how beautiful the area was as nice as I’ve seen in any other city in the world. Mexico City is packed with Pussy as well, I was turning down women left and right it seemed like simply cause I didn’t have the time to squeeze into my schedule.

I guess the mexican opinion in this Mexico City's threas is not big.
I am from the North of Mexico and been in Mexico City a bunch of times and I will say that I agree with you i the majority the thingd you said.
Mexio City is a monster wiht a mix of order and chaos that makes you wonder how it works.
Personally, I only enjoy Mexico City for short visits. The noise, traffic and tons of people as you said makes it not the ideal place to be looking for a calm spot.

This may seem like your biggest mistake in my opinion. If you are looking to see the 8 and 9s in Mexico, you need to shot higher in the social class. There are many places in Polanco/ Condesa that if you know about you will end up meeting really beatiful women often. The problem is, to acesss this women you need social connections and for foreigns dudes it isn't that simple and outside of those circcles the average girls are way lower.

I also agree that Mexico City si the gay capital of Latin America, I am susprised how this happened in a veyr short period of times. Looks like everybody just came out of the closet one day. Crazy shit.

RE: Mexico City - the Paris of the Americas or a chaotic clusterfuck?
I spent over a month in Mexico city. I thought it was so so. The size of the city is pretty staggering, but most of the areas you want to visit are pretty central. I remember taking subway rides and getting off in random places and being like "eh" and going back to the hostel. I went to the club district near the hostel and some of the clubs are like run by local gangsters and will try to overcharge you for a bunch of shit... I just ran out without ordering anything after I saw they were trying to scam me.

Mexico has some very very hot women. But I agree that they aren't as common as you would like, but they are there. I like Guadalajara a lot more than Meixco City. The density of hot women and fun shit is a lot better in Guadalajara IMO. If you want to get lost in a huge concrete jungle then Mexico City would be your place. Guadalajara, while large, is more manageable and just felt like a nicer town, more trees, easier access to parks, etc.

Having said that, I had a pretty good time in Mexico City. I hung some with the locals, went to parties, bars, clubs, etc. Definitely can have fun in a town with like 20 million people. At the same time it feels like you're living in the Maze Runner where you feel like you can lost in what is truly truly a massive concrete maze the size of which can be hard to comprehend and extends for many many miles in all directions.

Every time I came back to the Hostel I felt like "wow, I made it out of the maze". Part of that is because it's flat and there are very few natural landmarks, not many hills, shore, anything like that to orient you in the concrete maze.

It's definitely worth a visit. The central military square in Mexico City is one of the coolest political things in the western hemisphere pertaining to the colonial era.

As for girls, you can definitely find sets of attractive women if you put in a little effort. Also, the subway is pretty fun if you don't mind being push around during rush hour - like 5 guys pushing everyone to squeeze into the cars. Also the trains run on tires which is pretty cool. And the above ground trains are kinda fun.

I've been told by my hotel that the water will be cut off for 5 DAYS!!!! I will be staying in Condesa all this period.

Anyone there at the moment who knows any more about this? Is the water likely to be off all day for the full 5 days, or just intermittently?

Officials in Mexico City have announced that water cuts will affect 13 of the city's 16 boroughs from Wednesday, October 31, to Sunday, November 4, to allow for maintenance on the Cutzamala water system. According to the National Water Commission, the boroughs of Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, Cuauhtémoc, and Miguel Hidalgo will experience water cuts for all five days while Azcapotzalco, Benito Juarez, Coyoacán, Iztacalco, Iztapalapa, Magdalena Contreras, Tláhuac, Tlalpan, and Venustiano Carranza will experience partial cuts to water supplies during this period. Authorities have advised residents to stock up on bottled water in anticipation of the planned outages.
