Stan Lee taking the piss out of Rob Liefeld and Todd McFarlane as they draw a stereotypical 90s superhero character.

Rest in Peace Stan.

MacFarlane and Image Comics had Spawn (cool character, not a fan due to satanic theme) and a bunch of z-grade Marvel and DC knock offs. Dude is a hack.

(11-13-2018 06:19 AM)Richard Turpin Wrote:  From the age of 7 I'd buy a Spider-Man comic at the newsagents each week then cross the road and wait for the bus to take me to school. I'd sit and absorb every word and picture on the way (often missing my stop). Then once I'd read it cover to cover, I'd spend a week trying to copy all the artwork until the next issue came out.

That exquisite thrill of seeing a new Spider-Man front cover each week just waiting on the news-stand all pristine and shiny, ready for me to buy is a feeling I can still recall now, nearly 40 years later.

Reading these comics was such a great escape for me and I'm indebted for all the joy and education they gave me. Comics are a great educational tool for young boys; my vocabulary and understanding of science came on leaps and bounds due to Stan Lee and his artists.

Anyone who's read my repeated attacks on the way the Marvel movies and comics are going, may be surprised, but I'll always be grateful for what Stan gave me.

What did you ever do with those old comic books? They must be worth a small fortune right now.

Stan Lee's death has reminded me that I have a stack of old Spider-man, Thor, Sgt. Fury and Hulk comic books somewhere in the family house.

Re Big Tony's post regarding value:

Take a few minutes and check out a comic book app called Key Collector. It's essentially a database of prominent comic book issues. First appearance of a character, first issue drawn by ___, first cover art by ___, beginning of a specific storyline, final issue drawn by, newsstand copy vs upc code copy, etc.

You can search by artists, characters, book titles, and a couple of other ways.

It's worth checking out in that what may seem like an innocuous title (such as New Mutants) and issue (98) now has a substantial value, versus issues 97 and 99, because issue 98 marks the first ever appearance of Deadpool.

New Mutants 98 can easily fetch upwards of $200, with prices as high as $1,000 or higher, depending on the condition of the book.

Thanks Sam.

I've been so busy with life that I haven't given comic books much thought until this week. I do recall placing a great condition Spider-Man comic book in a large freezer back in the late 80s.

The next time I am home, I will look for the old collection. Hopefully, no one threw it away.

They change their (((names))) to hide their real origins, and true numbers among the population...but their real identity creeps out anyway in their behaviours, the type of jobs they take, and the kind of things they produce.

See here:

What are these behaviors? Like writing comic books?

I may be late, but SJW's were ripping on Stan on Twitter for being an old evil white male despite the fact he fought against bigotry with his comics. They wish they could be like him.

Here is him in Mallrats in a funny scene

Disney hits new lows - they're using Stan Lee's twitter account to promote Captain Marvel:
