This lifestyle would have made sense to me a few years ago when I was too lazy and low value to create bomb social media profiles (instagram most effective for banging, LinkedIn for professional.)

Social media is certainly not the most productive way you can spend your time, but this is also a game forum, correct?

Having no social media profiles leaves you disconnected from family, friends, and more importantly, bang leads. Almost every millennial woman will consider you weird, not mysterious.

Social media is here to stay. It's much better to discuss methods to game the system for more social status, money and bangs, than to continually try to be counterculture and dodge the inevitable questions about why you're such a sketchy serial killer who doesn't socialize like a normal person.

It's shit like this that leaves a sour taste in my mouth from red pill/RVF culture. I struggled and wasted a lot of good years with the anti social media mentality. As soon as I started making an effort into social media, I started swimming in pussy.

Anybody reading this, I implore you not to cockblock yourself and start investing into social media. There will be less and less bangs that don't involve social media as the years go on, trust me.

I totally agree with making a basic Facebook and deleting Twitter, limiting other social media profiles. Keep instagram, invest six months into creating a dope profile. I promise, you will thank me later.

The last ten minutes of the video addresses dating. The problem, according to the video, is that the pussy you are swimming in is junk pussy. Psychologically damaged narcissists who will never satisfy normal desires for emotional intimacy. You might as well be masturbating to porn using a Fleshlight® to simulate a vagina (sex doll with virtual reality goggles in the future). Only the young, dumb and full of cum can't see that this won't fully satisfy a normal man.

The best way to avoid psychologically damaged narcissists is meet women in real life, away from social media. Nothing wrong with using Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, etc as placeholders for email addresses or to present a resume. Just don't spend any time on them. Ideally, don't accept any friend requests, don't post anything, don't allow comments, force women to use email to contact you. The women who can't/won't do that are the women you want to avoid.

Better no pussy than narcissistic pussy.
Better no pussy than making yourself narcissistic.

Two things can be right at the same time and you are both right.

When I started on my online dating journey, I had no public social media or anything like that. In hindsight, it demonstrably hurt my leads/contacts/bangs/etc. The process of developing a social media presence (solely for online game) settled the matter for me. You can pull a lot more with a well-curated online presence (which, incidentally, can and will most likely will be complete bullshit).

But that gets to Shemp's points. As I believe I mentioned in my social media breakdown, I still consider social circle to be NUMBER ONE, the best, hands-down way to get girls. It is better quality in terms of all aspects. You can pre-screen in a way that online purposely obfuscates. It is just better. In "the current year" it may be better for straight bangs as well. I have started keeping backup copies of every message that a girl and I exchange. I never thought to do that a few years ago. At least you know the girls in your social circle and some of your friends might come to your defense if you get #meetoo'd.

I think the question of social media and game comes down to where you are in the game life-cycle - as it appears to apply to most men. Young or young-in-game guys who are looking to increase their notch count surely benefit from all of this nonsense. Guys who are a bit older and focus on STRs, LTRs, and marriage, probably see a decreasing ROI on using much of this stuff. And if you are married with kids, you should be way more focused on what your kids (and perhaps your wife) are doing on social media.

Currently out of office.

RE: Social Media Wagon
I put my simcard into a flipphone, so no more smartphone for me. That takes away "looking at your phone" completely. The only real hassle is not having Google maps.

On the laptop, I used a Chrome plugin called DF Tube (Distraction Free for YouTube), which allows me to get rid of all the distraction site elements; autoplay, watch next, recommended videos and the homepage full of vids. All I see now on youtube is a search bar.

For Facebook, I've used "Social Fixer", which allows me to get rid of site elements. Now all I see is the messenger and the search bar, nothing else.

I don't use any other social media besides reddit. Besides that, I put a tab limiter on my chrome browser, so max 2 tabs per session. To sort of combat "The Shallows" effect of automatic multitasking.

Face-to-Face Interactions: Down 70%
Dating: Down 63%
Blowjobs: Down 50%

Almost spit my drink all over my monitor when he said that shit.

I figured sexual activity was down because of technology, but was pretty shocked it is to that degree at this point.

But think about it, even phone sex has to be approaching extinction because talking is too awkward for the majority of teens. Sexting is the lamest shit ever. How can you even cum when you have to stop wanking or flicking your bean every 5 seconds in order to type a paragraph of sex talk?

I wonder what attending junior prom must be like nowadays.

I'm surprised this doesn't get brought up more on the forum. I know there are guys here (Gio) who go after college girls all the time. Go day game at a major university in the US. Sure, there are the party sluts. No question. But there are far more girls who will stare at their shoes when you talk to them. I was hanging out with this 22-year-old girl a few months ago who refused to talk to people on the phone. If she couldn't text someone or do some kind of online chat (for customer service, for example), she wouldn't do it. There are more and more of the social phobia types than ever before.

There is another thread on the forum about raising children and social media. You really have to look out for the future trench coat mafia types with the amount of zombification that happens on these devices and services.

As to the prom aside, I have heard several stories (including, I believe, some on the forum) of administrators having to bribe kids to show up at school dances. The girls all socialize together and the guys all socialize together and they really want nothing to do with one another. I know at my alma mater, they have done away with everything but Homecoming and Prom. We used to have 10-12 dances a year.

RE: Social Media Wagon
Hey guys, I have been reading this forum for over a year and finally took the plunge to actually join. Total right wing red pill here, although I am still trying to understand what it all means, but the harder I think about it the more I think I was Red Pill before it was even a thing. I signed up today using a burner email on the advice of Roosh and am looking forward to talking to proper men and learning from you.

Forgive the thread drift boys!

Anyway, social media....

I am of the firm belief that the C I A has a controlling interest in Facebook.

Peter Thiel headed up Palantir, which is a seeding capital organization established by the C I A to fund start ups which might help with intelligence gathering. Facebook, as it is widely documented took their money.

Fast forward to now, virtually the entire world has an account replete with facial recognition. The amount of data they have on us is beyond scary. A large percentage of Earth has now freely supplied all of their personal information to Zuckerberg et al.

A simple question, if the C I A knocked on your door and requested a bio metric scan of your face, would you supply it?

Well, you have.

It doesn't take a genius either to figure out that facial recognition is retrospective too. Think about that......

I personally deleted my Facebook account over a year ago. Not before I had to employ a script to spend almost 4 days cleaning up my wall. It is that insidious.

If you are still on Facebook clean up your wall, back up your data and get the hell out. Make sure you delete it properly too.

In 10 years time, we will be able to pin point how we lost our privacy and anonymity forever, thank you Facebook.

RE: Social Media Wagon
Good timing on this thread. I cut down on social media significantly in October.
Haven't watched the video but my reasons for doing so we're -
1. Taking away productive time
2. Acting as unnecessary distractions during work. I tend to be most efficient and productive when working continuously for 3-4 hours, followed by breaking for a couple hours. Social media interruptions, whether forced or self driven during the 3-4 hour work windows tended to disrupt concentration and slow momentum.
3. Cleaning up mental space

Here's what I did -
1. Deleted facebook
2. Deleted instagram
3. Deleted snapchat
4. Dormant linkedIn profile for background research on people.
5. Whatsapp required for business
6. YouTube complete avoidance except when required for research since I tend to get suckered into watching one more video and it snowballs.
7. Reddit restricted to 15 min/day
8. RVF restricted to 15 min/day...there goes my 15 for today I'll see y'all tomorrow.

Edit-Never had twitter so there's that

RE: Social Media Wagon
I've been cutting down on SM for some time, it's been relatively easy for the most part:
  1. Facebook, easiest as I don't care about people on there tbh.
  2. Instagram, hardest as it's the most addictive, for validation and sluts.
  3. LinkedIn, work related and wouldn't ditch, lots of great shit on there.
  4. Snapchat, dead.
  5. Twitter, go on it like once a week, if that.
  6. WhatsApp, frequently use it as I can keep in touch with people I've met across the world and plates with ease.
It's been okay, I'm not that bothered and I'll probably cut down even more as time goes on.

RE: Social Media Wagon
I truly believe there is a negative correlation between peace of mind/general happiness and the number of times someone posts on social media. Once you realize that nearly all social media is a smoke show it loses it's power over you. These platforms are designed to keep you addicted. Instagram for example uses a "variable reward" system that is synonymous to slots at the casino. Check IG....0 likes....check IG 10 mins later...0 likes.....check IG 5 mins later....50 likes--->Dopamine rush and thus the addictive cycle has commenced. If you are using social media for anything other than business I'd say it's a loss.

Just installed that extension. Super useful.

I also installed the Duck Duck Go extension for Chrome which supposedly protects your data so your search results aren't personalized.

I will probably delete Twitter and Facebook from my phone. I don't use them there anyway.

I've set a time limit on my social media apps on my phone to 30 minutes daily (iPhone). Text messaging is included in that category, so that usually eats up the time. I generally only spend <5 minutes per social app per day.

I also monitor my screen time reports to see how many times I pick up my phone and how long I spend on various apps daily. Enlightening stats that make you look yourself in the mirror.

An alternative to deleting the apps is to heavily filter who comes up in your feed. That has reduced my time and made it more interactive with people in my network, family, and friends.

Learning to live with social media but am by no means married to it outside of my job in digital marketing.

RE: Social Media Wagon
I got rid of my social media years ago. I feel much better not comparing myself to others, which I found myself doing even if on a subconscious level.

Best of all, not being on social media actually gives me an excuse to have actual conversations with my friends I have not seen for a while. We actually, and I know this is a novel idea now, catch up with each other. It has also shown me who my friends were and who my acquaintances were and yes, there's a difference between the two.

I am not using social media for the last 5 years. The only thing i use is whatsapp & youtube. Mostly for political videos & chatting with friends and some girls.
My social life is much better and you don't have time for this anyway when you have kids. The earlier you stop the better. All these networks are very toxic , especially Instagram.

RE: Social Media Wagon
Reducing social media consumption has been an ongoing crusade of mine but this year I'm taking it a bit more seriously.

I tried using one of those screen time monitoring apps but found it completely useless because there was no consequence for going over. Instead, I'm engineering out my consumption by deleting accounts and apps.

-Deleted Facebook account - absolutely pointless platform.

-Deleted Twitter app - useful, but easy to overindulge. I still read desktop Twitter and keep my account for posting. If I have any ideas for tweets while out and about, I write them in my notes app and publish later.

-Deleted Instagram app - this one is a major time suck. You'd be surprised how easy it is to lose hours browsing memes, sports clips, and booty pics. I re-download and check DM's every week or so, and post photos. This allows me the benefits of Instagram (keeping in touch with friends, girls, etc.) without the negatives.

-Similarly, I regularly delete and re-install Tinder every other day or so. This allows me to get my swipes in and follow up with chicks without increasing thirst levels. In addition, I'd bet my irregular responses keeps girls on their toes.

-Installed K9 Web Protection - originally this was to block porn on my desktop, but I'm also using it to limit mindless browsing. I'm blocking Instagram, Reddit, and 4chan. These are zero ROI sites and never need to be browsed.

-Deleted YouTube app. If I want to watch something, desktop is there.

-Use Self-Control on desktop to block out YouTube, Twitter, and RVF when I need to focus.

-Deleted all email apps. I can check them on desktop.

The result is that my phone is very light. It's literally text, call, music, WhatsApp, and RVF. I understand some couldn't do this because of work, but I don't need to be plugged in 24-7. Everything can get done on desktop when I get home.

So far I already feel more calm and relaxed, especially when out and about.

Whatsapp. #1 essential business tool right now. Last week I received a signed contract on it, this morning a foreign business guest messaged me he landed in country, etc. I see that some people consider this a social network but in my case it's what you make of it. (It is also my preferred tool to communicate with chicks.

FB. I am considering deleting this then once in a while someone reaches out to me via its messenger who doesn't have my phone # etc. It's rare but that's most of why I have kept it. I could go to to "almost never" login but the messenger would still be logged in on my phone tracking my every move and sound as it seems they do. I think I have two people who consistently use fb messenger to message and call me but I could get them to use another network I suppose. I do log in or check it on the phone and it seems to be just a random time sink so it is a candidate to delete.

IG. Top candidate to delete, useless except I share my own photography which used to be fun.
IG Work account 1. Useless and also could delete
IG Work account 2. Same as above

YT work. I have some fairly high views on some things and it doesnt make sense to delete this.

Twitter work 1 and 2. No reason to delete.
Twitter personal, never use, one retweet in 3 years, no tweets.

LI. I dislike using this and rarely log in but I have over 7,000 industry friends or whatever they are called on LI and I suppose someone somewhere looks me up there and it shows I am in such and such industry. Never did business from here but have been talking to someone for several years which will eventually pay off.

Skype, A few people use this to call me so its just another telephony app.

Update

I fully deleted my personal instagram, two work instagrams and one instagram for a project that I never completed. FB is likely next but I need the time to go through the people one by one and make sure I have contacts. When you decide not to interact with the digital "profiles" of people and opt instead to interact personally the decision is easy.

Similarly I deleted all of my social media accounts. My focus, productivity, and mood have all improved greatly.

Everyone should ask themselves what they’re trying to get out of the TIME you waste on social media. What do you want?

The truth is most people use social media the same as TV - mindless consumption, that produces nothing of value.

If you’re a jacked billionaire spinning five HB10 girlfriends, sure, go ahead and scroll through some memes and booty pics. But if you’re like me and unsatisfied with your life, cut off the social media dopamine drip and get to f***ing work.

Off The Reservation, sorry, just saw your reply some 6 months later.

And no. Ever since getting off social media, I have less frequent contact with more distant people.

However, I have more meaningful contact with more distant people when we actually do meet up again in real life or speak on the phone, rather than the more frequent superficial contact that I found social media provided.

If that makes sense.

I have found that it's a quality over quantity type of thing that has resulted from me not using social media. Because it actually takes effort to reach out to somebody, it requires a person to be proactive instead of just passively Facebook scrolling or what have you.

I am in agreeance with Uprising. Most people don’t use social media beyond superficial posts and travel pics. You can’t REALLY tell what’s going on with someone’s life from their posts.

The only downside is you may forget to check in with people, it just takes a bit more effort.

Funny you should mention this. My local paper runs galleries of prom pics for each high school and I've noticed that in the last few years there are fewer photos of couples and more of "groups" of just girls or just guys. I have a friend whose daughter went with four other girls.

Had this happened in the 1980s or 1990s, these kids would have been rejects among rejects. This would have been considered a step above taking your sister or your mom to the prom.

Social media is definitely to blame. But it's also the way it lethally mixes with "helicopter parenting." It's a little hard to get a girl's bra off when mommy and daddy are texting you every three minutes about trivial bullshit like "How was the food?" or "Send us video of the band!" Etc.

I don't see how any teenager could live being tracked 24/7 by mommy and daddy, but this especially goes for boys. Think of it this way: Had there been smart phones in the 1980s, the movies "Risky Business" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" could not have happened because the main characters wouldn't have had the freedom to go wild, which set the plots in motion.

No wonder mental illness is "skyrocketing" in young adults. If I had to put up with my folks for more than a few minutes a day as a teen, they'd have had to lock me up in the looney bin.

***

I can't close out without a gratuitous '80s reference. In this case, it's the ultimate Fake Madonna song, "Baby Love" by Regina, which went Top Ten in 1986. Below is the first verse, sung from the point of view of a teenage girl. Who would have thought this ephemeral junk-food-pop would one day symbolize a long-gone era of freedom? Sad!

"Boy, there's no one home tonight
The timing could be right
To forget the rules, we're out of school
Until tomorrow
Now, if only you would stay
There's so many games we'd play
Why should we pretend to be just friends
When we could be so much more?"

^you just made me remember how great it was to take a chick in college and go find a place to hide out in total privacy, no phones, no one in the world knew where we were or what we were doing.

RE: Social Media Wagon
Scaled back my facebook friends from 500+ to under 200.
- I found myself getting into useless arguments with people I barely knew.

I just decided it wasn't worth it, tracking all these people, many of whom I wouldn't make an effort to see, and they wouldn't make an effort to see me. Under 200 was very easy, I have family, actual friends, and people who I might reach out to at some point, or actually enjoy seeing their photos. There is a lot less noise on facebook when you cut out the fat. There are less updates, I use the app less, and see information relevant to people I actually know.

RE: Social Media Wagon
I somehow missed this thread. I haven't used any social media in quite a while. I have no use for it, i cosign on redbeard's post as the reasons.

We don't make an effort to see them because we see them every day on social media. This is something people didn't realize would happen. It's insidious. And harmful.

I befriended a girl from high school on Facebook years ago. Throughout the 2000s we spoke on the phone occasionally. Since I was divorced by 2011 and still had her number, I called -- just like I did in the old days.

Her reply? "Why did you call when you can just DM me on Facebook?" Gee, I don't know. Maybe because I'm human and like to actually speak to another fuc*ing human being once in a while and not just stare at a screen.

Experiences like this and a few others have convinced me that people really are the mindless sheep I thought they were in high school. Back then I complained that teens just bought whatever music was being pushed by the major record labels.

Now I'm observing adults buying into whatever technology is being pushed and not seeing the larger, more harmful ramifications. When you have a society where people no longer actually speak to each other AND are being tracked 24/7 by mega-corporations, I'd say the citizens are in big trouble.

They aren't mindless robots, they are just intimidated by speaking on the phone, for real.

It is too much pressure, too real time, you don't get to craft the perfect reply for your brand and then publish.

Seriously, I was volunteering at a St. Vincent de Pauls working the phones trying to get donations and stuff, and the coordinator complimented me on my phone skills which I brushed off.

How fucking hard is it to talk on the phone?

And she said, seriously, most of my volunteers don't feel comfortable talking on the phone. There were three young volunteers in the room, and one raised her hand, followed by the others.

DOBA, just by not dying, and lasting this long, you now have an awesome skill that very few have. Talking on the phone.

Unfortunately, nobody wants it, either.
