Yeah but shitty hiphop or rap is literally EVERYWHERE. One reason more why I don't listen to radio and stick to my nice synth/vaporwave, metal and epic music

This is the modern country version of "Baby It's Cold Outside."

(12-04-2018 10:45 PM)yankeetravels Wrote:  Reading the lyrics again, this song is the very definition of courting, LMR, and girls hamstering on why they have to go instead of doing what they really want to do (have sex with the guy they're attracted to). It's not a rape song, it's just being targeted because it really lays out a playbook for guys on how to game and to persist with women. Back in 1948 and even 2003 (the Elf shower scene), this was just a catchy courting song. But now, (((they))) don't want younger guys knowing how to court and game.

This really is one of the greatest duet songs in music history too with a man and a woman. Also, almost every song in music is about a guy pursuing a girl. Rap in particular is really blunt about this. Hell even before this, almost every Frank Sinatra song is about him getting it in with some girl. Like I said, this one is a target because it gives information certain people don't want out there....

Here are the lyrics. Note the bold.

I really can't stay (Baby it's cold outside)
I gotta go away (Baby it's cold outside)
This evening has been (Been hoping that you'd dropped in)
So very nice (I'll hold your hands they're just like ice)
My mother will start to worry (Beautiful what's your hurry?)
My father will be pacing the floor (Listen to the fireplace roar)
So really I'd better scurry (Beautiful please don't hurry)
LMR by the girl in traditional courting, all the guy seems to be doing is asking her to stay around
Well maybe just a half a drink more Rape target line nowadays but in this song, the girl volunteered to have a drink (I'll put some records on while I pour)
The neighbors might think LMR hamster (Baby it's bad out there)
Say what's in this drink? Target line (No cabs to be had out there)
I wish I knew how (Your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell (I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell) (Why thank you)
I ought to say no, no, no sir (Mind if move in closer?)
At least I'm gonna say that I tried (What's the sense of hurtin' my pride?)
I really can't stay (Baby don't hold out)
Baby it's cold outside
Ah, you're very pushy you know?
I like to think of it as opportunistic
Flirting on both sides taken as rape???
I simply must go (Baby it's cold outside)
The answer is no (But baby it's cold outside)
The welcome has been (How lucky that you dropped in)
So nice and warm (Look out the window at that storm)
My sister will be suspicious (Gosh your lips look delicious!)
My brother will be there at the door (Waves upon a tropical shore)
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious (Gosh your lips are delicious!)
More LMR hamstering, guy gaming in return
Well maybe just a cigarette more (Never such a blizzard before) (And I don't even smoke) Girl volunteers to stay again
I've got to get home (Baby you'll freeze out there)
Say lend me a coat? (It's up to your knees out there!)
You've really been grand, (I feel when I touch your hand)
But don't you see? (How can you do this thing to me?)
There's bound to be talk tomorrow (Think of my life long sorrow!)
At least there will be plenty implied (If you caught pneumonia and died!)
I really can't stay (Get over that old out)
Baby it's cold
Baby it's cold outside
Okay fine, just another drink then
That took a lot of convincing!
So it's rape that the girl wants a drink herself? Seems legit. GG

We are not in disagreement.

Again, the point of this post is pointing out another example of normal, healthy male-female interaction that considered 'rape'.

I've always loved this Dean Martin version of this song:

That ending chord tho.

As for it getting banned. Just SJWs being insane, joyless, soulless freaks. Nothing new there.

Back Door Man
Given the times, I am surprised the song Back Door Man isn't more popular. Or outright banned, considering the original meaning of the phrase:

Quote:In Southern culture, the phrase "back-door man" refers to a man having an affair with a married woman, using the back door as an exit before the husband comes home

Since back door man is now a phrase associated with sodomy instead of heterosexual male infidelity, the song passes the test. Poor Willie Dixon had no idea the lyric would be flipped on its head from chad to soy in just a few generations.

As to this -

With respect to political messages getting more pronounced, at first I thought it was just Hollywood being bold because they could. The more I think about it, the more it looks like what you suggest - that modern under 35 audiences are ill prepared to understand anything subtle. Between declining primary and secondary education and an instant gratification, Hollywood probably has to resort to ham handed simple messages to keep the NPCs on the path to submission.

I have always hated this song. I have tried to hate-like it to piss off the SJWs, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

The lyrics are very good, though, Frank Loesser clearly knew bitches inside and out. It's the picture of last minute resistance.

The melody must get on my nerves or something.

It is obviously dated, and doesn't mesh well with modern sensibility.

This makes it all the more ridiculous that the SJWs had to go that back far in time to find something to make a stink about. You can just see them listening to old radio shows from the 40's looking for someone to take down.

It kind of proves the point that in today's world, they really have nothing to complain about.

I always thought this song was charming in an old school way. Whoever wrote it knows how the male female dynamic works. Kind of like that "santa baby" song where the bitch asks for everything under the sun for christmas. I wonder if that will be banned next?

I would prefer Christmas music on the Christmas music radio should be about Christmas, not just a generic sex song that happens to mention the weather. Let's face it: the song doesn't have the chops to hold its own even on the oldies station because it's not very good.

The last time prominent feminists attacked Baby its Cold Outside for promoting rape, the next winter Lady Gaga and Tony Bennet sang the song live on TV and in tons and tons of commercials (for, I think, Barnes and Noble).

I think that the elites back then, less than 4 years ago, liked the idea that a musically terrible sex song could pollute the fun Christmas song rotation especially at the kid friendly venues where such songs play.

But now in 2018, they hate healthy sexuality more than they hate Christmas? I don't believe this. I expect that the ban will not have teeth and will be reverse, unless a song more terrible than Baby its Cold Outside can be found.

I would call it seasonal music rather than Christmas music as such. It's just that Christmas happens to be the winter marker in Northern hemisphere (post)-Christian societies. Playing It's Cold Outside in the middle of August would be awkward. Same with Let It Snow or I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm.

This guy's got a pretty entertaining schtick and he eviscerates the SJW criticism very well.

Of course, SJWs don't really want to engage in a serious debate. They are only interested in lighting dumpster-fires and watching them burn.

It's one of the few Christmas songs I can tolerate; but I'm a fan of that era of music.

The bigger point is that this is another example of the Inversion Agenda. Anything healthy, normal, or fun - evil, rape, privilege. Anything depraved, ugly, or harmful - celebrated.

This song has to go because it's Game 101 in song form - the rare exception. Most songs are about Beta simps whining, and yet somehow getting the girl. Songs like this, which represent healthy relationships - or even honest songs like Blurred Lines, who reflect on the fact that we can want contradictory things simultaneously - these are all Hate Speech.

Can't let the goy know the truth.

"Blurred Lines" was released in 2013. Successful, if mildly controversial. It wouldn't even get released today.

It used to be that you needed to be middle-aged before you realized that the cultural landscape had changed since your youth, but now there must be a lot of guys as young as 25 looking back and seeing how fast things are moving. It's not going to stop either.

RE: Radio Stations Pull 'Baby Its Cold Outside' Over "Rape Song" Claims
Feel the need to write a follow-up comment to this. I decided to explore local social media to see what the reaction to this was. Turns out most people commenting on it seem to agree with what we're saying in here. Hell, even the View, which is one of the most famous all-girl talk shows, said that people that think this song is about rape is a ridiculous "view" and that some people are failing to view this in the time that it came out. Most people are saying it's about courting and love, other women are even saying it could be an arguable feminist song. And weirdly, that might even have legs for their perspective. Because in 1949, people did not openly talk about sex before marriage. This song discusses women giving in to what they really wanted to do, and in that time period, nobody really talked about sex before marriage so openly and honestly. It was a pretty shameful act back in that time.

Also, exploring Neptune's Daughter and videos with this song, I realized that another talking point in our favor should be that not only did a man court a woman with that song in the movie, a different woman used that song to court a man into sex during the second verse. That's actually kind of crazy to see in a movie back in 1949. Neptune's Daughter might be well more ahead of it's time than anybody even thought now.

One interesting relation for this song is that the Elf movie is regarded as a new-era Christmas classic. It's held in very regards for everyone in the millennial generation growing up. Yet, as one poster linked to earlier, it had a scene with Zooey Deschanel showering naked, singing the song, and then Will Ferrell walked in on her. That's the arguable definition of what SJW's seem to think is the problem with this song, yet I have not seen one shot taken at Elf for doing this, and it was only 15 years ago.

I'm in this exact position actually. Right around this age and looking at how the world has changed in as short as five years, plus looking back at 10-15 years ago. Some examples I can think of are football being a lot more of a manly sport just a decade ago versus now where I don't think the same toughness is required. Not to mention, college athletes had much more of a "big man on campus" title back then, and they still do to a degree but they're much bigger targets now for rape claims. Duke lacrosse and the Baylor controversy really changed the dynamics there.

I was in the K-12 grades less than a decade ago. Nobody really thought of school shootings as a serious issue during my time. We knew about it, even had a false bomb threat in college, plus saw a couple of bad ones like the Virginia Tech shooting, but it wasn't mainstream to the point where people were seriously afraid of going to school. Hell, in high school, my more popular classmates used to jokingly debate which kid would be most likely to shoot up the school. I doubt that'd fly just 5-10 years later.

Cellphones changed very quickly too. In elementary school they didn't exist for kids to use that age, now those same aged kids have ipads. In middle school, flip phones and blackberries were a big deal. In high school, things changed to the smartphone real quick. Never paid attention in school quite as closely once that and laptops developed lol.

However, I will argue one good change that happened is that travel became MUCH more convenient when I grew up. My dad and I used to print out mapquest for car directions everywhere. There wasn't information on other countries so readily available. Some will say this is a bad thing, but I will say that in my case as a younger guy, having this technology and information available, especially things like airbnb, hotel sites, and uber, it really made me pull the trigger a lot easier to take the initiative of travel.

I'm getting off topic now, but I think it does lead into an interesting discussion with this song kind of opening up the door to how we view other songs and movies that came out recently. Also, save Rudolph too for old school Christmas and winter songs/movies.

As far back as I could remember, I always wanted to be a player.

Yes, I think I know why things seem to be turning on a dime.

Unlike most here I am not a fan of Trump, but I think the election of Trump is the turning point, similar to how 911 was a cultural turning point in 2001 (leading to plots that were increasingly dark and nihilist).

I think SJWs were left feeling impotent by the election. They felt they no longer had a forum in which to flog the issues. But that SJW impulse needs an outlet and it shifted over into how screenplays are written, how professional reviews spin them, and how the SJW mob fights over them in the resulting dumpster-fires.

Attacking cultural sacred cows is in effect tantamount to flying planes through the World Trade Center.

As a society we are very attached to our pop culture, and he (or she) who controls pop culture effectively controls society, perhaps far more effectively than those who soapbox and just talk about issues, since most of us are too bored to watch an actual political debate.

It is a shame younger guys will never know how the world was before it became so easy to travel. When it took more effort, there were fewer people willing to do it. When each picture had a cost and had to be printed on film, you really took time to take only a few infrequent shots you cared about. Letters and post cards meant a lot more than email or even a random FB post, and you had to make damned sure your cash didn't run out or you had some way to get more, since credit cards and ATMs couldn't be guaranteed everywhere. If you were lucky, Lonely planet had a book that could get you started on the cheap. I'm not even touching meeting entire cities full of women without smart phones, no apps and didn't even get to meet foreigners very often. And of course, much lower notch counts.

This sounds like an old crusty rant (maybe it is). Make the effort to see the places you can which have yet to be overrun. Your older self will thank you.

All I want for Christmas is the Grid to go down for a few weeks, maybe a month or two at most. See who still knows how to swing an axe, read a compass, ice fish, etc.
