Canada Arrests Huawei CFO
American hypocrisy at its best. True to its two-faced character, the Deep State controlled Canada took a bold step of arresting Chinese Huawei CFO Wanzhou Meng, while the other wing of the Deep State is supposedly suing a “trade truce” with China in the aftermath of the recently concluded G20 Summit in Argentina, that would postpone tariffs on at least $200 billion Chinese imports into the US.
Huawei Technologies Co.’s chief financial officer was arrested in Canada over potential violations of U.S. sanctions on Iran, provoking outrage from China and complicating thorny trade negotiations just as they enter a critical juncture.
News of Meng’s arrest provoked an immediate protest from the Chinese embassy in Canada, demanding the U.S. and its neighbor “rectify wrongdoings” and free Meng.
Time for China's move.

With God's help, I'll conquer this terrible affliction.

This isn't two-faced. This is politics the world-over.

Politics is doing one thing seemingly unrelated to gain leverage on something else on the bargaining block. Huawei's CFO is the daughter of the founder, so she it should be self-evident that she's being used as bait/leverage for something.

The Iran sanction is the public reason given for the arrest. I wonder what the private, real reason is though?

This is awesome I love it. Huawei and other tech companies in China have been getting away with bullshit for a long time. Anything that hits back at these giant Chinese companies is great, and we absolutely can pursue trade deals while also smacking down the worst of them when needed. In fact if the West never takes action like this there is no reason for the Chinese to play fair. Asians in general are only barely capable of honest cooperation, they only truly start listening when you slap their chubby pie faces.

To pretend the deep state is terrible but yet the Chinese government is some honorable victim is F'in retarded.

Great post GM.

OP's reading of the news is about as deep as a morning show. Huawei is associated with the China military and intelligence, there is much more to this story.

So what? Every major American company is associated with the Pentagon and receives mammoth amounts of public money to develop technology. GM, Boeing, Lucent, Intel, Pratt & Wittney... American companies are not different from their Chinese counterparts when it comes to being financed and protected by Big Government.

Huawei has apparently been supplying major contracts in the West while building back doors into the hardware for the Chinese government to abuse. Colour me shocked.

The only thing untoward about this situation is the length of time our traitorous coward governments have allowed this to carry on.

Lol this is only going to get China to bully pansy Trudeau more, even if this was a move as a favour to the US Gov.

Reminder Canada is still one of the few Western nations that have not banned or discussed ruling out Huawei for important domestic contracts, and our current consumer infrastructure Bell/Telus used significant amount of Huawei tech, after Siemens got undercut so bad for the contracts and lost out.

This same Huawei whose built on the stolen backbone of former Canada stalwart Nortel.

Speaking from personal experience, the quality of Huawei's phone blows the competition out of the water, including USA's own overpriced steaming pile of shit known as "Apple". Chinese manufacturing and trade practices aside, it's no wonder that dirty tactics have to be used to suppress its market share. It's one of the few Chinese products that genuinely provides great value.

Quote:Huawei has apparently been supplying major contracts in the West while building back doors into the hardware for the Chinese government to abuse. Colour me shocked.

And we're supposed to believe this coming from the same "intelligence" agencies who have long since been proven to spy on all of us through all forms of hardware, firmware, software and communications infrastructure? Monkey

I imagine one could still say "but it's fine for my own intelligence agencies to spy on me, the Chinese aren't allowed to though", but these intelligence agencies are not our own either - they're just lairs of globalist traitors - so who cares?

RE: Canada Arrests Huawei CFO
You're talking about the difference between your national government spying on you and a potentially hostile foreign government being able to shut down your electrical grid at the touch of a button, or much much worse.

I'm not one for lavish government spending but to the extent that anything pertaining to national security can be built or sourced intranationally it ought to be.

If that's not possible then the contracts should only go to national actors with whom a nation is allies with militarily.

Even blind men are starting to notice that the globalists are cooling rapidly toward the Chinese despite allowing them to undercut Western interests for decades. As mentioned elsewhere on the forum, I suspect the Chinese were being positioned to be the new thralls of the elite after the Western husk was discarded, but the Chinese elite decided to doublecross them and shut them out.

It would go a long way to explaining why they didn't yank the economy out from under Trump when they clearly have the power to do so.

To pretend the deep state is terrible but yet the Chinese government is some honorable victim is F'in retarded.

There is one big difference between the deep state and the Chinese government: the Deep State hates the white middle class base it has been controlling and undermining for over a century, seeking to undermine its morals and impoverish its economy, whereas the Chinese government since Deng Xiaping has presided over the greatest mass economic expansion in human history.

Think about it a bit, never in the history of mankind have so many people been lifted economically to such an extent, in such a short time period. China's middle and affluent class is now nearly 500 million strong, and still growing very rapidly.

https://www.businessinsider.com/chinas-m...ing-2016-8

Their government has aggressively provided the conditions and policies that made this growth possible, presiding over the return of China from a third world communist backwater to the world's greatest economy.

The Chinese government is also smartly protecting its people from degeneracy and mass baizuo infections, which the "free" democracies of Taiwan or South Korea are slowly getting corrupted with, while the anglo-zionist deep state saturates the population under its control with destructive moral degeneracy, making sure that this population gets dumber and poorer with every generation, turning them into atomized debt slaves, while the Chinese government lifts its people out of poverty by the hundreds of millions, making each generation richer and smarter.

The Chinese government is smartly avoiding armed conflict which would undermine its exponential economic growth, while the deep state-controlled US government squanders trillions for useless wars for Israel paid for in blood and treasure by US taxpayers and vets. The US maintains nearly 1,000 military bases across the world, in countries that mostly resent their presence, while China brokers win-win infrastructure and trade deals with countries all over the world to secure its access to resources and markets.

The US has spent $6 trillion on mideast wars for Israel since 2001. Incidentally, that is precisely the amount of capital China is investing in the most ambitious infrastructure project in world history, the Belt Road Initiative, a $6 trillion project which will cement that country's position as the world industrial and trade superpower:

Imagine where America would be today if it had a government that genuinely cared about the welfare and future of its people, instead of siphoning off the wealth they've created and turning them into debt slaves. US taxpaying households would have had an average of $80,000-$100,000 in wealth had they not squandered that amount in taxes for wars waged half a world away for the sole benefit of Israel.

China's "communist" government has undeniably delivered for its people... In reality, China's government has been shedding the (((foreign))) communist ideological shackles that have kept its people down, reverting back to its national confucian, traditionalist roots, and Xi is at least as much of a true nationalist populist than Trump is. Every Chinese generation will be richer and better off than the previous one, while the opposite is true in North America and western Europe, where their elites have conspired to undermine them.

Apple vs. Huawei is a microcosm of that duality, Apple extorts hundreds of billions from its consumer base, and is the epitome of mass consumerism and planned obsolescence. Like the other GAFA tech corpo-oligarchies, Apple is at the forefront of a social engineering campaign to render its base more compliant, ushering the population into their Brave New World degenerate technocracy.

Huawei will deliver similar quality products at a fraction of the price, make the tech landscape more competitive and consumers richer, without engaging in globo-homo leftist social engineering.

“Nothing is more useful than to look upon the world as it really is.”

The US has never played 'fair' in any way, has it, and is merely using its massive market size to bully the rest of the world to accept terms beneficial to only itself. Fairness doesn't come into it at all. China is the recipient of tariffs, just like Germany, France, Canada and many of the American's most trusted allies. How is this fair?

Compared to those other oh so enlightened countries you mention US tariffs are incredibly low. They are not reciprocal. IIRC right now the tariff on US cars in the EU is 4x what the US tariff on EU cars in the EU is.

Open thread to see why they arrested another female CEO and already some are sowing dissension about the USA and "muh fairness".
Stick to the topic.

I doubt it. Remember that your lower level, millenial leftist isn't good at critical thinking. They're largely like trained dogs who emote in response to programmed cues like the word "racism" and "socialism". Easy_C

Red bellied commies upset over one of their many spies being arrested? Colour me shocked Chinese in telecoms are into spying operations across the Western world.

British Telecoms is quietly removing its tech from british infrastructure because the intel services told them too. A massive breach of security was allowed to happen,

If the US wants things to be fair and export as many cars as Germany, here's an idea: Make cars that are as good as German cars. People buy German cars not because they love Germany or because the tariffs are what they are. They buy them because they are better than American cars.

I like Trump, but his tariff mania is misguided. If ever there were equal tariffs there would still be far more German cars sold than American. Because German cars are simply better. This is just being used as an excuse by America to impose these cowardly tariffs, ie to protect their own industries. Because they can't compete with, say, cars from Germany.

Same with China, it's protectionism.

Trump often gets it right, but he has it wrong on tariffs.

And now the US will hamper what is in the best interest of the consumer, greater competition in smartphones by handicapping an upcoming new producer, simply because of some one-sided Iran sanctions Huawei allegedly broke? It's just ridiculous.

Let's hope none of this sends the economies of the world into meltdown, which are already set for a massive correction in share prices. These idiotic tariffs didn't help one bit.

Trump often gets it right, but he has it wrong on tariffs.

First off, you like "fair" a lot. Why should Trump be fair? There's no reason he should be. Fair is for children, not nation-states. He should be 100% biased towards the US. That means retaliatory tariffs.

Second, you've dismantled your own argument in about three ways here. You don't like tariffs? Great. Get the EU to remove them on US goods. Competition is good.

German cars are simply better? Maybe they are. Maybe GM and Ford need to compete on price. They can do that in the US. They can't do that in the EU. Why? Tariffs.

And then you say it's the same with China. Please, tell me what Chinese car is superior to American made cars? China has even more punitive tariffs on American imports that are not reciprocal.

Long story short: America is getting screwed on trade. Trump is using the tools of trade war to turn that around. When American companies can compete again without governments propping up their competition (as China is doing to its industries with those massive tariffs) then they will. Whether that means no/low tariffs or reciprocal tariffs. Either will work.

RE: Canada Arrests Huawei CFO
Look, I just seized on the word 'fair' because another poster had used it above, Globalman claimed these tariffs were a good way to make China act 'fair'.

Frankly, neither these tariffs nor the sanctions on Iran have jackshit to do with 'fair'. They are obviously cowardly, ineffective and passive aggressive ways to try and protect US interests. That's all.

So, indeed say it like it is, say that the US now is reduced to reducing access to its markets because it simply can't compete anymore with those producing better products, like Germany with cars say. There used to be a time when the US was strong enough for that not to matter, but now even the tiniest coal mine in the US is of crucial importance to the US economy apparently.

I totally agree with you that the EU tariffs on US cars are a disgrace, and incromphensible. But I assure you, if there is a level playing field, and both the US and Germany have 2.5% tariffs on cars there is only one country that will continue to sell more cars, and that is Germany. Trump knows this very well. He is not threatening to impose a 20% tariff on cars because he wants to level the playing field. He wants to distort the playing field in the US favour. And the only way he can do it is by imposing massive tariffs. That's weak.

On China, I meant it's the same reason, Trump is again concerned that China is exporting too much to the US. So the US can not compete on quality- Germany, and they can not compete on price - China. You've answered your own question. So the only thing the US can do is to introduce cowardly tariffs to protect itself. It's really weak.

America is not getting screwed on trade. American and German car manufacturers have the exact same obstacles in China. Why is Germany outselling US cars? Because the US is getting screwed on tarriffs? I don't think so.

Oh NOES. He wants to distort the playing field in his country's favor! What a monster. Instead he should somehow force GM to make cars that are better than BMW.

And tariffs are not a disgrace. They're an effective way to protect your country's industry. That is evident with all of the positive effects on steel manufacturing in the US and if you had been paying attention you'd know this.

Yes, they are. That's what a trade deficit is. Concrete evidence of getting fucked.

Why are BMWs outselling GM in China? Because one car is a famous luxury brand and neither can compete on price with Chinese cars so if you're going to high priced then you go big. Otherwise you go Chinese.

Anyway, I'm done arguing with you. Someone else want to continue this man's education?

RE: Canada Arrests Huawei CFO
The thing is Trump keeps saying he wants to "Level the playing field".

Just like Globalman above claimed the tariffs were about fairness.

In reality Trump is using tariffs as an excuse to impose even greater tariffs to protect US manufacturers. That's the whole point, to impose large US tariffs to protect US manufacturers, protectionism, not competition. Note how China has removed the 40% tariff on cars, but Trump has done nothing of the sort himself.

So nobody should buy the claim the tariffs are about levelling the playing field, the exact opposite is what the US doing.

Tell it like it is, the US is too scared of competition now and is merely restricting access to its markets for protectionist reasons.

A trade deficit is not 'concrete evidence of getting fucked', it can also simply mean you're not producing products the world wants at the same rate as others are.

Again, the reason why German cars are outselling American cars is not because of tariffs, it's because the world wants to buy German cars because they are better.

If the Americans want to impose protectionist, cowardly tariffs that distort competition, then say so. Don't say you're 'levelling the playing field' or some such bullshit.
