Having not read the article before I commented, I only found out afterwards that she knew she was sick before she got on Tinder and claims she was "in denial".

So yeah, I wonder how many other guys she went through before she found a match.

That statement I made is because peritoneal dialysis is a much less invasive method (and therefore much less efficient), than traditional dialysis in a Clinic/Hospital, with high tech facilities, equipment and professionals.

If they get married, they should get a house with a kidney shaped pool.

RE: Man donates kidney to new girlfriend he met on Tinder
A selfless act like donating a kidney shouldn't be lambasted. The rest of the dating stuff, meh whatever, do what you will.

These days it doesn't matter where you meet people, offline or online, just the quality of the match. Having met over a hundred very different women through many different avenues of online dating I think that certainly qualifies me to speak on this subject.

If he doesn't end up with her, so what? He sounds like the kind of guy to have donated his kidney to some random stranger, and to me that is the real lesson in all of this. As for me personally, I wouldn't donate a kidney. Maybe I'd be moved for a close friend family member, but that's a stretch.

But maybe stop the dogpiling and try to see this from a more human angle.

He's the type of guy I'd be proud to call a friend. I agree wholeheartedly with Gmac and it truly is a shame that he's being lambasted here. Then again we have guys who display great alpha pride in not even providing a chick a glass of water. Not a good look for this forum at all.

RE: Man donates kidney to new girlfriend he met on Tinder
People are not lambasting him in general, and if you read over the thread you will see that most posters have given him credit for his selfless act.

Even the guys who are ripping him, well, it is pretty common to use topics as springboards for alpha/beta talk, and as a forum is designed to discuss things, this shouldn't be taken too seriously.

It is unlikely that anyone would rip him if they knew him.

You have to admit that women are getting more and more entitled, and there is something darkly comic about matching someone on Tinder and then she gets one of your organs so the relationship can go forward.

On the archetypal level it is pretty ironic.

I don't think most men here are laughing at him for being a kidney cuck. Most of us are just genuinely disturbed at how badly skewed the SMP is for men. If this guy had a fair availability of pussy around him I don't think he'd be offering up his kidney up to a girl he barely knows, that's two standards of deviation less attractive than he is handsome. I'm convinced he is doing this out of thirst. People don't donate their organs to randoms. They donate them to VIP's and she has a pussy.

The story itself is fine in isolation. The issue is that this dynamic of male sacrificing for the female only goes that one way as presented in our culture. If a girl gave a kidney to her boyfriend (and I firmly believe that would be much less likely to happen) the media would not be interested in reporting on it.

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

I have had this sig since 2015 and received thousands of post likes; yet not one person has commented on my sig. Perhaps you're familiar with the work it parodies? Let me know!

George Lopez got a lot of grief about divorcing his wife after she gave him one of her kidneys. I thought that was pretty cold blooded, hope this guy doesn't suffer the same fate as Lopez's ex-wife.

The girl is a nerd or looks like one but her face is attractive and well proportioned . A nice smile too. Her looks are more of a style/no make up thing than her being unattractive. The dude looks and acts somewhat languor. A good match.

Hope they end up happy together.

RE: Man donates kidney to new girlfriend he met on Tinder
One of the things every man faces is the question of what would he do in the face of true sacrifice.

It comes at us in every possible way. Would you be willing to cover a girl if a gunman comes in the room? Would you take on an opponent who could beat the shit out of you if it meant protecting someone weaker and smaller? How would you do in war? Under torture? Would you be willing to stand firm in what you believe in the face of ridicule and ostracization? Would you save someone's life or would you freeze up?

This dilemma is sitting there resting in the back of every man's mind at all times, and it is a powerful motivator.

Most men can remember times they came through when it counted most, and also, almost as importantly, times when they failed to do so.

I would say that many men over the centuries have not only faced their fears and acted with courage and sacrifice for a good reason, but many men have also, unfortunately, taken risks and made unnecessary or unwise sacrifices merely because the fear of a lifetime of shame was too much to contemplate, and so they acted in a superfically valorous way when in reality they were too scared to say, "Why?" or "Is this necessary?" or "Is this a good idea?" or "Why me?" because their fear of social censure was too great.

In other words, it is very easy to get men, and especially young men, to do just about anything if you tell them they will be the hero, and you hint that they will be shunned as a coward if they don't.

Just spitballing here, and I don't know the specifics of the situation, but the first thing I am wondering is where in the hell is this girl's family? This seems like a hell of a thing to ask of someone you just matched on Tinder, and, because I am older and less worried about what strangers think, my first question would be why no one in her family or anyone else she knows has come forward to give her a kidney.

I could easily see a young guy get pressured into something like this because he thought he would look weak or cowardly to ask why no one who is supposedly closer to her, or has known her for years, hasn't made the offer yet.

(This is for the sake of argument, as I don't know if this applies to the situation.)

If someone told me I just needed to man up it would be good night Irene and I'd be long gone. It would not be hero time.

It is each man's greatest fear, and greatest uncertainty, how he would do when it counts the most. And it is easy to manipulate men, especially young ones, by playing on this fear to get something from him.

Do what I say or you are a loser for life.

The best takeaway from this story is not to let other people manipulate you by using your deeply held feelings of responsibility for doing the right thing against you.

Take a minute, take a deep breath. Assess each situation for its own particulars, ask some questions, and don't let people pressure you into doing things against your better judgement.

He is also in for a big surprise the first times he tries to use the fact that he saved her life in an argument only to find out she is all:

After all, to quench your Thirst, you do need one (carefully filtered) Tinder match, and one (nicely filtering) kidney.

I guess it makes Tinder the ureter of dating life?

RE: Man donates kidney to new girlfriend he met on Tinder
I found a couple of other cases of people who met on Tinder donating organs to each other. I wonder how common it is.

It's a noble thing to give an organ to save someone else's life. I just so wish that they had met somewhere other than Tinder.

Also, she bugged me with that "anything can happen but, at the moment, I love him a lot and I want to be with him" comment. Is she hinting that their relationship is not going to be permanent? I don't think I would be able to not feel extraordinarily bad about a girl leaving me after I gave her an organ and probably shortened my life or at least decreased the quality of it by doing so.

If she knew that she was sick before they started dating, the entire scenario is poisoned.

Considering thirst and social pressure, this is not fundamentally different from a man marrying a single mom.

He gave up something he can never get back to a woman who was only looking out for herself.

You can't blame her for that. He made a mistake though.

What thread are you reading? Because pretty much other than Gmac, everyone else is ridiculing him, calling him a cuck, a fool, he got played etc. We even have a couple of geniuses here who think this chick didn't even need a kidney transplant and just decided to snooker this guy out of one of his kidneys. You know, for shits and giggles. As far as women getting so entitled, what, you think that women are now at the point of taking men's organs from them as the ultimate form of entitlement? The sad thing is, a lot of guys actually believe that's what's going on here.

Think about it from this guys perspective, if he decides not to give his kidney to her, she'll be waiting for years for a transplant and will likely die before she gets a donor. So now he gets to live with that for the rest of his life. So he decides to save her life without worrying what he will gain or lose by doing this. Seems to me we need more high character men like him and less black pilled, "I don't give a fuck about no one but me and my dick" douchebags. Again, either way he decided, I wouldn't judge him and I do understand someone deciding not to do this. However, the fact that he's being so heavily criticized as some beta schmuck for his decision reeks of a total lack of decency, decency being something which seems to be in precious short supply here these days. Most things in life do not fall into a black and white alpha/beta dichotomy no matter how hard you want to try and fit everything into that narrative. Very sad state of affairs when a story like this generates such vitriol from supposed alpha males.
