RE: RIP James Ingram
RIP!

The soul crooners, especially the ones since the 70's, never get the credit they deserve.

I was once going out with a girl, and it was the early stages, and out of the blue she said she hated soul ballads.

How the fuck can you hate soul ballads?

Maybe indifference, but hate?

My subconscious mind had nexted her before she finished the sentence.

Guys like Ingram, Bryson, Osborne, Pendergrass don't get the widespread credit they deserve.

Sad to see him go.

He did Soundtrack work too:

And I liked his version of "I Believe I Can Fly" better than Kelly's. Less mannered and manic. A voice with warmth, power, and subtlety with the hint of a rasp. He knew how to let the passion build, and when to bring in the choir. He didn't feel like he had to show everything he could do, at all times, in every song.

Will be missed:

“The greatest burden a child must bear is the unlived life of its parents.”

Hey DJ Matt, I just found this. James Ingram live on Leno, 1990:
