Sign language for fun, education and game (warning: .gif heavy)
First up I wanted to thank Disco_Volante for reminding me about this with his revelation in the EElounge about chicks with hearing impairments.

I'm a guy who likes my quiet time and in this noisy era of hustle and bustle I've always thought that sign language was kind of cool. Not only that, but it's a skill that can take you lots of places and put you next to some of the most famous people in the world.

[Image: anigif_enhanced-11626-1399626786-4.gif?d...ality=auto]

You want hip modern culture to impress millennial chicks? Sign has you covered.

You want to be able to express yourself without being charged by the social justice police? Sign's got you back.

You want to neg a chick so smoothly she can't get you out of her head. Sign is your wingman.

[Image: 59ee982229b78c0d41187c773f3d1b2ba2b63226.gif]

So I'm going to kick this off as the official sign language thread of the RVF.

Haha great idea man. I hooked up with a deaf girl for a bit. She used a pocket type thing (this was in 2002) but all we did was go dance at a club then bang. She hooked up my buddy with her deaf friend and but it never really went anywhere. I tell ya what, there was something about being out with two VERY hot deaf chicks that made us feel like legends. No talking. Very little typing.

My wife and I also taught our son some sign when he was a baby and it worked like a charm. He could tell us a lot in only knowing 5 signs. Very helpful and made for a less cranky kid.

Don't try to learn too many sign at the beginning, focus on some of the most useful words that you use in your everyday life, like "Cum Dumpster"

It seems like a lot of these signs have multiple steps. I'm surprised they can translate a person speaking in real time. It seems like speed has more than twice the words per minute of sign.

I think it's cute when deaf chicks talk, it sounds like a seal being clubbed to death. I find it endearing, like I want to take care of them.

Deaf/HOH here. I was surprised to see Heartiste's hilarious post related to sign language, "Birthday Cat, Meet Sign Language Gif". And now this Sign Language thread on RVF. lol

(Yes, I can speak well, but I am also fluent in sign language if you're wondering.)

Okay, let's get the dirty sign language out of the way first since I get asked this all the time.

The above are commonly used and seen in the Deaf Culture. This video of Deaf people is a good example of how they use ASL (American Sign Language) or Sign English when signing dirty words.

WB the cute Deaf girl (starts around :12 mark).

Starts around :34 mark. Lots of fun sign language to pick up on.

All the gifs above are correct, but let me tell you there are over 50 ways to sign “fuck” and a dozen ways to sign “bullshit”. I can think of 4 ways to sign “asshole” depending on the context.

Most deaf people have absolutely no filter and are quite blunt, but they also use a lot of slang.

So learn a few of these, and enjoy going down the rabbit hole. You’ll be amazed.

Oh and by the way, sign language isn’t just one language. There’s American sign language, Japanese sign language, Thai sign lang, Vietnamese, Australian, French, Brazilian, Portuguese, and so on.

And they are ALL different!

I’m fluent in American sign language, but I wouldn’t be able to understand a deaf person using Chinese sign language.

There IS an “universal sign language” but nobody really knows it because people rarely use it.

One more interesting tidbit... American sign language is dervived from French sign language because most deaf immigrants who colonized the new America were French themselves! So if I were to meet someone using French sign language, I might understand half of it.

Exactly true. This is something I learned and picked up on when I first went to college and met some Deaf/HOH students for the first time back in the 1980's. I learned sign language by interacting and socializing with them instead of enrolling in an ASL/Sign Language course offered by the college.

Tip for guys: if your college, high school, Continuing Education Center, etc. offers ASL courses, sign up for a class. The girls-to-guys ratio will sometime work in your favor because you'll be in a class filled with mostly females and very few guys.

Girls LOVE to learn ASL/Sign Language for fun so it's an ideal environment to meet and work on your Game.

This video is a good example of sign language from each country.

Regarding Japanese Sign Language (JSL), skip to around :56 second for "brother".

Also, JSP alphabet chart shows a middle finger as well. lol

Haha fuck I went on a date with a partially (maybe like 80% deaf) girl once. Gorgeous girl, 19, green eyes, short and curvy, half italian/israeli. She had an earpiece and still couldn't hear me at times it was kind of funny, but I hated repeating myself (would constantly forget she's deaf). My school has a big deaf studies program and the girls there are kind of smoking hot, would love to use some of these Banana

RE: Sign language for fun, education and game (warning: .gif heavy)
We always hear about "Fake News". How about "Fake Sign Language Interpreter"?

Thought it would be funny to share some "fake" sign language interpreters that actually happened in real life.

For those who are unaware of the GIF in the first post of this thread, the black South African guy who was doing the sign language interpreting for Obama's speech was actually a total fraud. And he did the same thing at Nelson Mandela funeral as you can see below.
Quote:'Fake' interpreter at Nelson Mandela memorial
Published on Dec 11, 2013

The sign language interpreter at a high-profile memorial event for Nelson Mandela has been accused of making signs up.

The man, who signed for a portion of the ceremony including Barack Obama's speech, was simply making up his own signs, say the Deaf Federation of South Africa.

David Buxton, the CEO of the British Deaf Association, said the man, who was supposed to be signing in South African, was "waving his hands around but there was no meaning."

Mr Buxton said it was "childish hand gestures and clapping, it was as if he had never learnt a word of sign language in his life."

He said sign languages across the world share a similar structure and pattern, but his were just repetitive hand movements.

"It was hours of complete nonsense. He is clearly a fraud who wanted to stand on stage with big and important people. It's quite audacious if you think about it."

When watching this short video, pay attention to his repetitive hand movements. You'll notice he didn't know what the hell he was doing. Hence, he was using the same hand patterns over and over. lol

Here's another "fake" sign language interpreter.
Quote:Tampa Police Spokesperson on Fake Sign Language Interpreter: ‘I Let Her In’
Published on Dec 5, 2017

Another sign-language interpreter is accused of signing total gibberish. This time it was at the police news conference announcing an arrest in the Tampa serial killings. A woman standing off to the side was supposedly translating every word, but it turns out much of what she was signing was nonsense. The woman, identified as Derlyn Roberts, has a string of arrests for fraud. So how did she come to be "translating" at last week's high-profile police news conference?

Funniest comment:
Quote:General Lee N Knass
That was sign language for the blind.

Lolwtf

Edit. Meant to add this "gold digger prank" video earlier. Thought it was a very interesting social experiment.
Quote:Deaf Man Gold Digger Prank
Published on Sep 21, 2017

This is a gold digger prank and a social experiment, in one. I approach a girl as a deaf man to try and pick her up, but I am rejected. I use sign language and write on my memo pad. She doesn’t want to go out. She didn’t mention a boyfriend either. I’m hearing impaired and I am a CEO of a rich hearing aid company. But I also had money stolen from me from another girl.

Does it actually matter?

Not exaxtly sure what you’re asking, Leonard, but facial expressions matter 100%. It’s actually part of the grammar. For example:

When asking a yes/no question, you RAISE your eyebrows at the end to signify that you are expecting a yes or no answer. “Are you OK? (Raised eyebrows)” - your gif above shows exactly that.

An open ended question though, you LOWER your eyebrows. “What are you doing? (lowered eyebrows)” it say seem like the asker is angry, but he’s actually not.

When I said facing what I meant was "should I be doing with my left hand what HE is doing with his left hand or should I be pretending I'm looking into a mirror?"

I'm guessing the former but I just wanted to be sure.

Ah.

Nah, it depends on whether you’re right or left handed. If you’re right handed, your right hand will do most of the work when signing, and vice versa. No need to mirror the other guy.

Figured I'd put together some fun sign language for RVF's thread-related stuff.

"Clown world"

Facing a pack of crazy liberals/feminists who likes to gang up on anyone who goes against their narrative, "hyena" comes to mind.
