This already hurts... 2 years ago I was still killing it on dating apps without all the BS and now this... I mean what's next in the coming decade? Hiring a film studio for a few thousand bucks to produce a 3D trailer of your awesome life?

Unfortunately the dating apps have changed tremendously. Tinder now has a 9:1 men to women ratio. On Lovoo I receive 50% fake messages. Badoo has turned into complete pay-ripoff so I had to delete it. And OKCupid has changed their system so that you can only message after matching, like in Tinder. Manual Swiping is too time-consuming there, so in my home city I swiped all available girls on OKC right with an auto-swiper and all I got out of it was a handful of fatsos, deformed faces and gays/trannies.

Even if you add chicks there and tell them right away that you don't use fb and only have messenger they will also accept it without being too distrustful in my experience.

No, you must like a person (gold star) before you message them but their profile disappears until they like you back. It's not entirely like tinder.

If you only get matched with fat people and deformed girls it's because you have an unattractive profile.

Seems like you are trying to justify your "checking out" of social media.

Truth is, even girls who seem to be "obsessed" with IG will be receptive to you if you are an attractive confident man with game.

As far as I know they can't see the message unless they match back first. Effectively that would make it the same as Tinder.

That answer is a bit too simple. Of course the profile can always be better, but at least before they changed the system it was generating some useful output here. Maybe the competition also stacked up in quantity and quality, that is quite probable. However, it's just something different if you at least have the chance to convince with a message rather than just waiting until they put in the effort to play the match game long enough until they hit your profile.

True. But that doesn't really show online. That's why I'm not sure anymore if the whole online game is still worth the time and eventually money. When I'm in other countries it's still giving me much better results than offline game, probably due to exotic bonus, a somewhat automatic filter of foreigner friendly and english speaking girls and my experience in online game. Here in Berlin it has become an absolute shitshow though. The most obvious decay in this city happened to couchsurfing btw: tons of horny men clicking every available girl in the couchsurfing hangout app. the girls don't check the app regularly and then suddenly accept all of the hangout requests at once. often this ends up in hangout groups with a bunch of horny arabs surrounding a flattered fatso.

Without matching, the inbox of any remotely attractive girl would be filled in a day, hell even on dating apps where you voluntarily like them it becomes a chore to manage more than 50+ people.

It is much better to have a matching feature, since it keeps us from sending messages to women who might not even see them or be interested.

I disagree with the whole online thing requiring Instagram too.

I'm not sure what you are advocating, you shit on "self improvement" and "social circle". I feel like at that point you are better off joining an incel community that hates on PUAs.

They can see the messages, just not in their Inbox. The way OkCupid works currently is: you can message anyone that you have previously liked. When you message a girl, your profile will be 'promoted' as she browses the website, and the message will be shown alongside your profile. Obviously you won't show up in the first position - there are other factors at play - but it has a positive effect on sorting. So when she uses QuickMatch or browses for profiles, your profile is likely to pop up, and your message will show up in a text bubble next to it. But there's a catch. If they want to reply to your message, they have to like you back.

There are two important flaws with the new system:

1) Girls have to like you back in order to talk to you. It forces them to give a clear signal that they're attracted to you. Girls hate doing that. The greatest thing about OkCupid was being able to engage girls about random topics and win them over in a conversation. It was kind of like "online indirect game".

2) It kills off any suspense that they might have had when looking at a guy's profile. They can see your photos, they know that you liked them, and they also get to see your text game, all at once, without doing shit. They don't have to invest anything, not even a right swipe. It's too easy for them to discard you. Tinder actually works better than current OkCupid simply because girls have to swipe right before they find out anything about you. It's small, but it's something. They have an incentive to swipe. And when they swipe, they are immediately invested.

I managed to bang a few girls off of OkCupid before the introduction of the new system. My strategy was messaging them with something witty. Most of them replied. After the new system was introduced, I couldn't manage to get a single date. Tinder still works for me even though my profile isn't optimised.

I don't like OKCupid I was just saying that in general it's better to have a "filter" before talking. Just like Tinder does, also the whole browsing profiles is antiquated, unmatching is really nice since it gives you better privacy when you talk with someone undesirable.

That is also true. I suppose there is no perfect solution.

Lol, you seem to be quick with extreme conclusions. I'm not advocating anything, I'm just observing and trying to find the best way to find decent girls before going down another alley full of shit.

I don't shit on self-improvement, I'm always working on it and think it should be part of the entire life, but not focussed so heavily on what gets you girls that it consumes you and your actual priorities. Look at Roosh for example, he built his entire professional and financial success around self-improving for chasing girls and now says he overdid it and felt like a fool living this kind of lifestyle all the time after his sister had died. Admittedly he's an extreme example, but I hope you get my point.

Interesting... maybe I should start messaging again then.

Your response is to Sangango's post, not mine. You got his quote confused with mine, thanks to him, starting the misinformation.

Unless you know me and met me in-person, you won't know what I look like from the 3 photos (of cars and landscape) that I have uploaded to my FB profile. If you're still confused like Sangango is, let me make it very clear: I rarely try to pull women through social media. No Social media for me! I despise it. The only reason I'm on FB still is because of my friends. Not women. Friends.

No, I didn't misread. I wasn't talking about pulling women from social media, only about adding women on FB that you have met in real life (to keep in contact because they want to connect on FB for whatever reason). This was just my advice on how to use FB as a pure messaging tool.

I have recently deleted IG as well too. Sometimes I feel like I will focus on that too much and getting girls instagrams, who is following vs unfollowing me, and just stuff that really doesn't matter. I live a better life not in the social world hard to explain, but goes to show you it is easy to get addicted lol. It may only be good for keeping in touch with some women but if you couldn't close the deal that night or first couple dates then she lost that feeling for you and is pointless. It can still work if you are in good shape and as a way to showcase your lifestyle but in all reality the girl probably wouldn't care much longer than the 5 minutes she see's your profile lol.

RE: Online Game: Is Instagram worth the pain in the ass?
Around 2008 when texting first became popular in the US, many guys involved in pickup were quick to swear it off as unnecessary. I read "Bang" long after Roosh wrote it, and I noticed that while he does discuss texting, he doesn't seem sold on it as something that a player needs. Today, it's almost impossible to set up a date with a girl anywhere on the planet without sending a single text.

I think there is a reasonably good chance that social media will replace texting in 10 years, just like texting replaced calling, although I'm obviously not certain of this. Still, If it does, having fully rejected social media because of your own pride will put you at a major disadvantage.

There's nothing feminine about adapting to the world that we live in currently and in the future. That is what men have done for centuries.

Sangango, I appreciate you wanting to tell me that I can use FB messenger as a communication tool but you should have stopped there. You're still confusing how I use FB. My friends and the women I hook up with have the ability to text/call me at any time. Why would I bother with FB messenger?

I only use FB to keep in touch with friends, friends' life events or invitations to birthdays and the like. I don't block comments or friends that are trying to get in touch with me. I think you think that I'm taking an extreme stance on social media but my original point (on Instagram) was only from the perspective of game and not how I communicate through social media.

Did you make a fake female profile to see how it looks like from woman's perspective? I mean, because a woman never messaged me first, of course it's always me who writes something (I use generic observation plus cold reading) to get them to reply, so I never saw this "OKC promotes profile with message next to it".

No, but I've gotten messages from a couple of women who messaged me first and I was able to see it.

This is what it looks like in the swipe section when someone messaged you (found it on reddit). IIRC the message itself is also visible somewhere - blurred out in that screenshot.

I can't find any screenshots for the browse matches section, but there's a similar indication that the person has messaged you. And if you check out the profile you can see the person's message.

Yes bro. I am up 800 followers since i started roughly at beginning of February. It works, just have solid content and post every day.

I use FollowLiker. I posted about it on the Instagram thread. 60usd one time fee, 5 dollars a month or so after the first month. Granted, i haven't been using it every day, and i've gotten too many shadowbans to count, tdue to settings that are by all accounts too aggressive.

RE: Online Game: Is Instagram worth the pain in the ass?
I'm of the opinion that if you don't have a decent instagram, you're nobody in the game.

You think you're going to daygame a 20 year old 9, set up logistics with texting, and not have her wonder once why you don't have social media accounts?

Good luck.

I think this is the key point right here. Society is pretty atomized nowadays. Instead of meeting through friends, or friends of friends, people are meeting online or somewhat randomly in person. For girls, the downside to this is that they no longer have context in which to place you socially.

Instagram is baseline social proof, and also provides a rudimentary background check. For example, if you are using Tinder, I imagine that your swipe-to-meet ratio would be greatly improved if you included a link to a decent Instagram. I don't have any hands-on experience with Instagram, so it would be interesting to hear from anyone who has experimented with this.

RE: Online Game: Is Instagram worth the pain in the ass?
heads up: I don't have an IG, and I don't live in a country where IG is huge, so take this as you will.

Everything is worth doing. It's all just a matter of your mindset.

It's like fitness.

If you see it as an opportunity to see just how powerful you can be, it becomes exciting. You start off weak but you get stronger.

What can IG teach you? It can teach you the basics of marketing, for one.

I once told a girl I don't have an IG and she's like "oh, that's a shame. You're actually pretty interesting." I still copped the bang and it didn't matter.

However, she might have a point.

If you're interesting, it can only help you find other like-minded people or cool women.

Also a few RVF guys I know really well kill it with IG. I really can't knock it. I

We have to remember "if you don't move with the times, then get comfortable being irrelevant."

Guys don't like to hear that, but I think it might be right in this case.

I know this has nothing to do now with Instagram (and I didn't find anything related to it), but I saw that women became more receptive once they discovered I had a youtube channel of 700 subscribers (which honestly isn't that much). Any thoughts on that?

I think the reason why IG doesn't fly well with a lot of guys is because it's one of the least masculine social networks ever invented. You can't help but to feel ridiculous being that guy who takes photos of everything he's doing. The struggle to get more followers, likes, engagement, all so you can appear social and well connected to girls, it's just stupid.

Some guys have compared the rise of IG to the rise of texting and later Facebook. Come on. Texting is just having conversations via text. You don't even need a profile picture unless you're using WhatsApp. Facebook is a lot heavier on the social media aspect, but a lot of people have their friend's list set to private, use privacy settings to restrict access to content, etc. No one's looking for engagement numbers when looking at a FB profile, unless we're talking about real content creators, which most people aren't. Facebook is a mix-and-match of various real life experiences (photo albums, conversations, newsreader) in a highly controlled environment.

The real life equivalent of Instagram is a popularity contest. That's what it boils down to. It's a cliche American high school movie in social media form. And that's why it entices teenagers and women. Vapid popularity and the attention it brings is like crack cocaine for women. Men join the contest because it increases their chances in getting pussy, but the environment is toxic for a guy.

Youtube is harder to build up, for both genders. It's just a cool thing to have in general, since most people don't do it
