What do you guys think about Boise, Idaho? I've heard it's underrated for women, Idaho has top notch nature, but it's way cheaper than the 3 cities mentioned in this thread. Seems like a possibly more affordable alternative.

It sounds good for black guys who like white women but there aren't that many jobs. I have to make a living. I hear the Menver thing is a issue. I'm leaning more towards Portland because of the good job market. I'm not a soy so an alpha male who's not a pussy should do ok I would think. Female instincts is stronger than social programming

Seattle will have classier chicks, but I think you'll have more sex in Portland (until you start running into the same people, its that small). Latinas in Seattle will be better, because the ones in Portland are trash.

Portland has slightly better weather, but they both suck outside of July-September and some parts of spring.

Looking at all things considered, Denver is looking like the winner here.

This is a serious thing mate. My good friend from the Seattle area I interrogated about this.

He admitted readily that people in Washington are basically introverted idiots. Ironically i met him drunk off my ass on a long neurotic introvert's tangent...

What happens, basically, is they close off to anyone they didn't go to high school with. For me, this is autist level. I've only encountered such bad situations in europe, of all places.

This is a bit of a digression, but I love people from Washington, in terms of personality traits, they come closest to myself. Pensive, introverted, sentimental. But they're all fucking home-bound. Can't be bothered to leave their dwellings ever... They all literally act like depressed people despite not being depressed. They're cool people to talk to once you get to know them, tremendously perceptive, but basically Kurt Cobain types. Deal with at your own risk...

RE: Denver, Portland, or Seattle
So does anyone have names of actual venues?

Just general opinions so far, nothing specific.

What are the areas in Portland and Seattle where I can walk to the grocery, weed dispensaries, and night clubs that play house, disco, hip hop, etc.? What neighborhoods should I be considering?

Not interested in Denver for long term, too much sprawl. Seems like it’d be a great place to visit for a short vacation.

Portland and Seattle appeal to me more because they offer dense, walkable urban cores where I wouldn’t need a car to get groceries and go out clubbing.

Right now Portland appeals to me more than Seattle because of Portlandia and what seems to be a more idiosyncratic food culture.

Thanks for the info so far, but let’s get into some specifics!

I’m also black and looking at moving to one of these cities in a few years. Will probably visit both cities during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays this year.

RE: Denver, Portland, or Seattle
Most of Portland's nightlife is in Chinatown/Old Town. There are a few bars and bars with dance floors. There is not much in the way of "clubs" in Portland with the exception of Dirty, which is pretty ghetto and messy. There is a good 90s hip hop scene in Portland. Not much house music at all in Portland, there used to be but not so much any more. If there is, I imagine it would be a gay venue.

The only place in Portland where you can be walking distance to nightlife is around downtown. Most of it is yuppified and expensive though (Pearl District), but the Chinatown area is pretty run down with homeless (they are about 5 blocks apart). You can also live in other areas of downtown and it is walkable, but its kind of hit and miss. Its a lot of hypebeast mumblerap BS in the nightclubs. The cops actually block off a few streets and its a pedestrian nightlife zone. It can be really hit and miss, but crazy crowded on the right weekend.

I'm not sure you can get weed downtown at a dispensary, you may need to cross the river for that (its not that hard).

Thank you, Drazen! I will refer back to this thread in a few months when I visit the city.
