2 week lag from cause to effect? (Exercise / Diet)
I've noticed that it seems to take about 2 weeks from when I do a physical exercise to see the 'effect' of it.

The most obvious example is that, 2 weeks ago, I had a decent lifting session followed by a good stretching session the next day.

I didn't notice any immediate benefits from it in the days that followed and I had been too busy to workout/stretch since then.

However, I noticed yesterday that my core/upper body felt stronger and I felt more flexible in my lower back/hamstrings from the stretching.

I've felt a similar lag from eating also. If I ate poorly 2 weeks ago, I feel lethargic 2 weeks later - similarly, if I ate well 2 weeks, I feel good 2 weeks later.

Has anyone else noticed a similar phenomenon?

I remember reading Lyle McDonald (either rapid fat loss or one of the articles on his site), but he postulated that the cortisol from the stress of exercise and diet caused the drained fat cells to retain water. So you could burn off energy but the fat weight would be replaced by water weight for a while until your system settled down and then you'd piss it all out.
