The Hidden Tribes of America
Here's a report seeking to classify the political affiliations into more distinct groups than the typical left vs right paradigm we usually see. The groups are:

- Progressive Activists
- Traditional Liberals
- Passive Liberals
- Politically Disengaged
- Moderates
- Traditional Conservatives
- Devoted Conservatives

The factors that were examined to determine the distinctions between each group religious adherence, trust in institutions to effect change vs the need for radical reform, the level of political engagement, belief in self reliance vs outside circumstances for personal success.

Something that struck me was how progressive activists were the second smallest group in terms of raw numbers but how they have a disproportionate amount of influence in driving debates in the US. One of their traits is that they are "highly engaged with social media". I wonder if a lot of the black pill mood that has fallen over this forum is that people like us tend to be very internet based as well and hence, we get exposed a lot to the the craziness (10 year old drag queens) than the typical person doesn't see

TFW you realize that the progressive activists are intentionally made to look bigger and more influential than they are for the sole purpose of fomenting hatred and disunity among the commoners.

Those progressive activist fags could be taken out by Ted Nugent and a few prepper red necks in an hour tops.

Don’t sweat the petty things, pet the sweaty things.

The prog-activist minority is simply a smokescreen for the corporate oligarchy to implement their control measures.

The activists make noise and the corporate media amplify it far beyond its demographic representation. Corporate industry then claims a popular mandate to implement the measures they pushed through the lunatics in the first place.

God demands of Man responsibility. God demands of Woman vulnerability. These are their curse and blessing alike. Libertianism is to Man as Feminism is to Woman.

EDIT: The study itself and the non-profit behind it "More in Common" appear to be a corporate oligarchy information operation. Shadowy funding, various "global" NGOs and institutions on the governing board.

Questionnaire totally weighted towards divisive social issues, with nothing regarding tax and fiscal policy.

No surprise, I am a "traditional liberal." I don't see how you could be a "conservative" unless you're a police-stater - so many loaded questions about "respect for authority" and "rights of the police."

I agree with your point, there's a lot of "Neoliberal Social Justice," but with some "Traditional Conservatives" and all "Devoted Conservatives" there's no "smokescreen" - they openly support corporate oligarchy.

-- against higher marginal tax rates for the rich

-- against business regulation of any type, including any labor laws, consumer protection, or anti-pollution regulations

-- support "tough on crime" police state measures

-- US Chamber of Commerce-type conservatives support more immigration like H1-Bs

-- pro "free trade" exporting high wage job to low wage countries

There are a few "traditional conservatives" who are questioning corporate control over American life, like Tucker Carlson.

The objective effect of voting for "conservative" candidates are laws and judges favoring corporations over ordinary workers.

The "smokescreen" with conservatives are social issues like abortion, the gay, and prayer in schools. Gets Walmart workers in Arkansas to vote against their economic interests.

Abortion will never be completely settled in the USA because it's too useful as a voter-mobilization tool - for both parties.

Sp5 great point.

No real difference between conservatives and libs anymore. Both have totally abandoned the working class in favor of big bizness. It’s remarkable how much overlap there has been in the last 5 or 6 administrations’ policies. One was the continuation of the previous one (eg. Obama expanding the surveillance state and the wars in the ME).

This is very true. It's great that we're all plugged into this, and can see these things before they become mainstream, but it's important to unplug regularly and realise that most people have never heard of gender pronouns.

As long as you stay out of downtown Toronto (or your local equivalent), the world is surprisingly normal.
