RE: The Boomer Question
So I have a question for those guys that cling to this idea of “muh rights”. Recently Florida passed an Anti-semitism law in the state’s public schools, effectively taking a dump on the First Amendment. What the hell makes you think they won’t take any of your other “rights”?

You have no “rights”. What you have are temporary privileges.

RE: The Boomer Question
Dead end debate.

I asked some time ago where the select-fire M4s were in Walmart and why the ATF isn't just the AF. Most folks don't want to go there. The elites will let them keep their guns for a while yet. If the average American thinks they're still free then they may be delusional but one thing they're not is a threat to the elites.

So far the gunless French have set the bar for rebellion this century. We'll see where things go from there.

God demands of Man responsibility. God demands of Woman vulnerability. These are their curse and blessing alike. Libertianism is to Man as Feminism is to Woman.

RE: The Boomer Question
The second amendment is just an opiate for much of the American masses. As long as it is kept mostly intact in red States, many patriotic older Americans will tolerate a lot of other bullshit and avoid thinking too much about where things are headed.

I say that as a gun owner.

RE: The Boomer Question
In this Twitter thread, the forum's own Matt Forney blames Boomers for his own sexual experimentation in his twenties.

It's a long thread, and pretty interesting, and pretty confessional.

Matt's a good writer.

I think it is a bit of a stretch to blame Boomers for being sexually adventurous in your 20's, and not wanting to settle down.

Who doesn't want to play the field and look for something better in their twenties?

Only strong social controls and culture can get people to overcome their own natural tendencies and marry young.

When I was in my twenties, we were told roughly the same thing, and I'm a Boomer, so who do I blame? The Silent Generation? Or are Boomers just so naturally horrible, that when other people do something, it is Boomers' fault, but when Boomers do it, it isn't someone else's fault, but only their own Boomer badness shining through.

It seems like blaming Boomers, in some instances, can be a bit of a crutch.

He's also playing the "what if" game. Unfortunately, one cannot really know what would had happen if you did things differently.

If we continue the game, we can come up with many different scenarios. Like him marrying his college sweetheart. Years down the road he could feel like he missed out on opportunities and then begin cheating. Later he goes through a divorce and has to continue working a job he hates in order to pay for the child support. He obviously couldn't afford his writing gigs since they don't make enough money to not only support himself, but pay for his kids and ex-wife.

Then comes the blaming of others for pushing him to get married when he wasn't ready.

This is all psycho babble "grass is greener" type of stuff that doesn't really help. We are who we are based on our experiences. The good and the bad. It's easy to sit back and say I would have done things differently. The problem is even if you did do things differently doesn't mean you would have achieved the results you wanted.

Boomer here, married at age 23 to a 21 year old Christian virgin (we met age 21 and 19).
Didn't help one bit in the ensuing divorce rape.

RE: The Boomer Question
Most boomers surely got married in their 20s? My parents certainly did. It seems that some commentators are committing the same mistake as feminists by identifying the segment of a group which is the visible part of the iceberg. Feminists see the top 20% of men whom they get wet for but being spurned by them, they see all men as part of a secret network of patriarchal white privilege.

When we think of boomers, we think of the top 20% who could afford to go to university in the 60s and early 70s, could afford to drop out and could afford to get involved with the counter-culture and ultimately, design the economy around their greed by supporting Reagan and Thatcher. We don't think of the KIA Vietnam soldier whose working class social and political conservatism caused him to be tricked into fighting a brand of Communism which was more nationalist than internationalist.
