Tampa vs. Fort Lauderdale?
(To live). Early 20s, Want to move to florida for a couple years, just waiting to find the right job. Not high on Miami because not into the high COL, lack of white chicks, and it's a little much for me.

I like what I've heard about the Tampa area, laid back, low COL, easier white chicks. Tampa's on the list of potential places. Job market in florida isn't exactly booming so want to expand to include a couple more potential options to increase my chances of finding a gig quicker. Beach game is a must.

I think the only other potential options would be fort lauderdale, pompano, deerfield, boca raton, delray, boynton, west palm.

I know these spots get a lot of young talent during spring break but what about year round? Is it just old retirees otherwise? Anywhere compete with Tampa?

I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale but live in West Palm now. If you live in Ft. Lauderdale, you open up the entire Southeast coast for meeting people. The further you go from Miami, the slower the pace gets. For a dude in his early 20's, I wouldn't go further north than West Palm Beach to live. Ft. Lauderdale and Miami are only an hour apart. So, weekends or day-trips in the action are possible fun get-aways. Likewise, West Palm is only an hour from Ft. Lauderdale. There are cool little places all along the coast. If you want a slow beach trip, you can get that also by going further north.

What kind of work are you looking for?

So fort lauderdale's probably the best bet then on the southeast coast? In B2B tech Sales, not exactly a huge industry in florida, researched companies today and there's literally only 2 in Tampa and 2 in clearwater that I'd consider working for. Haven't looked into fort lauderdale yet.

And just looked into it further and fort lauderdale doesn't have any companies I'd work for, only city with potential jobs on the southeast coast besides Miami would be Boca Raton

My advice - do a bit more research and prioritize what are non negotiables for your move. Both markets are drastically different, just as Orlando is vs. Tampa. I love Latina women and lived in both Central and South Florida years ago. You mentioned white women, which Tampa will be your best bet.

If you're considering Tampa, also look at St. Pete. Much nicer IMO and closer to beaches.

I'm biased towards Miami because I live here. It has a growing tech/finance sector, great club/bar scene and international crowd. Fewer white chicks than other cities but they're not exactly "rare". COL isn't that bad if you're pulling at least $80k/year.

Clearwater beach is mostly a family crowd you're much better in Miami Beach, or Fort Lauderdale if that is what your looking for and like gaming on the beach. However as far as a typical American city (warm weather) with really good nightlife (SoHo area), a good downtown, tons of white girls and colleges UT and USF near by Tampa is a solid choice for sure and you can't go wrong. Miami although is considered a latin city I found it to be mostly trashy types in Wynwood, and SoBe crowd is the same. Brickell is a better vibe but comes with a price tag. Of course not everywhere but as whole and the same with Fort Lauderdale. South Florida offers better and warmer winters, a true tropical climate, more to do in general and a true international vibe.
