2019 California earthquakes
California has been rocked by hundreds of minor earthquakes in the past couple of days.

Quote:A powerful 7.1 earthquake shook Southern California, cracking buildings, breaking roads and causing power outages on Friday, just one day after a magnitude 6.4 hit the same general area -- while seismologists warned that large aftershocks were expected to continue for days, if not weeks.

The quake, centered 11 miles from Ridgecrest area, struck at 8:19 p.m. and was originally listed as a 7.1, was downgraded shortly after and then upgraded back to a 7.1. Friday's earthquake was about 10 seconds longer than the quake on the Fourth of July in Searles Valley.

Friday's temblor is the largest Southern California quake in at least 20 years and was followed by a series of large and small aftershocks, including a handful above magnitude 5.0.

RE: 2019 California earthquakes
I was wondering earlier if these are the precursors to “The Big One.” With all the faults over there people have been speculating that there could be a catastrophic quake in 5 years or 50, it’s not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when.’ Sucks big time because I have a few good friends living out there

I was in Japan 3 months and felt 3 quakes. Granted they were somewhere from 4.5-5 but still....shit is scary if you’ve never experienced it.

I’m pretty sure it’s caused by fracking. (I’ve lived in California 40 years and definitely prefer the east coast)

Maybe California will break off and go south, attaching itself to Mexico.

RE: 2019 California earthquakes
Earthquakes are a natural occurrence. Nothing inherently dangerous about them. It’s mans poorly executed encroachments on the natural world that makes them dangerous...to man.

Same with wildfires, tornadoes, hurricanes tsunamis volcanic activity etc etc .

Media just plays it up as victimization of people by nature

I experienced my first quake in 2011. The epicenter was M5.8 though I was in the next state over. Nonetheless, the earth was definitely moving and things on the wall were shaking. I felt truly small at that moment.

Earthquake that is caused by fracking can definitely happen. I remember there were fracking-related earthquakes that happened in Pennsylvania back in 2017 where it made the local news. For years, many people complained about the environmental dangers and problems in their homes (i.e., unsafe drinking water) caused by fracking.

If this doesn't convince you that climate change is real, then nothing will.

Seriously though, I hope everyone is ok. I really enjoy all these damn tsunami warnings.

It's funny how the liberal news media is trying to link it to climate change. It happens underground. Also, climate change is such a bullshit term... the climate has been changing for 100% of Earth's existence.

On the one hand, stuff like this is scary and tragic if people die. But then again I marvel at the awesome power of nature and just how insignificant and powerless we are in the face of it with all of our weapons, missiles, and warheads lol.

Vancouver island has also been experiencing a series of earthquakes. There is something abnormal this year though, here in Tennessee there were alot of earthquakes this spring. Minor ones are normal, ones you can actually feel are not.

Also, if you would like to get earthquake paranoid and live in the midwest, google "new madrid fault". Its actually one of the reason's I don't live in West Tennessee despite the dirt cheap real estate.

RE: 2019 California earthquakes
We had many earthquakes during my three years in Japan, in the early 70s. I've felt them in Hawaii as well, thanks to Kilauea. Had a big one kick the island I was on down in Uepi, Marovo Lagoon, in the Solomon Islands, a couple years ago. Then of course too many to count during my 15 years in California. I'm just now back in Florida, in time for hurricane season - of which I've lived through several in my 50 years on this planet. We think we are powerful, but Earth reminds us on occasion that we are just fleas on its back.

I was in the bay area when the 1989 Loma Prieta quake hit, I was sleeping on a sofa bed, it felt like I was riding a bull. That 6.9 was no joke! Whip

RE: 2019 California earthquakes
Yeah, but what a way to go!

I was sitting in the Hollywood Hawaiian Hotel
I was staring in my empty coffee cup
I was thinking that the gypsy wasn't lyin'
All the salty margaritas in Los Angeles
I'm gonna drink 'em up

And if California slides into the ocean
Like the mystics and statistics say it will
I predict this motel will be standing
until I pay my bill

Don't the sun look angry through the trees
Don't the trees look like crucified thieves
Don't you feel like Desperados under the eaves
Heaven help the one who leaves

Still waking up in the mornings with shaking hands
And I'm trying to find a girl who understands me
But except in dreams you're never really free
Don't the sun look angry at me

I was sitting in the Hollywood Hawaiian Hotel
I was listening to the air conditioner hum
It went mmm...

---

I experienced my first (and probably last) earthquake just a few weeks before my bro died. I was lying in bed about 2pm and the bed shook for about 2-3 seconds. It was quite scary. No one else noticed it. But I was meditating and stone silent, so it really amplified it.

Funny thing was, the epicentre was the exact same spot (about 50 miles away) from where we had both been born. Once in a life (death) time experience, I suppose.

As a kid I used to look at those big carved out valleys. I could just imagine a big massive twister ripping through it all. Sometimes the sky would turn purple-green. But no, No twister. Damn shame.

God really carved up the earth that day when he made our back yard.

Parts of it like Mars.

Sheer scarp slopes.

It had been cut up alright. The coal seems that were brought just 10 feet under the surface were testament to that. Millions of years just suddenly brought up to the top.

But still no twisters.

No hurricanes. No earthquakes.

But even then, as a child, I could feel it. I knew one was coming.

This was before I studied Geography and Geology. I just sensed it.

And it turns out I was right.

What a way to go!

...

I'm sure you'll be ok down there. It's the people at the top of the West Coast that really need to worry. That is the BIG one. When that kicks off, there won't be helping anyone.

I'll have a little word with that God I don't believe in just to make sure you're all safe!

You are in God's Country.
