Self improvement, recording habits
Hi guys,

Does any of you have the habit of writing down little things to remind yourself to do something. Be it meditation, waking up early, exercise daily etc.

It's a little like the NoFap + NoPorn thread but for all things.

Yep. Normally I create a to do list with nine or ten things I plan on doing or completing during the day and make sure I complete as many of them as I can.
For me, if I don't have some sort of schedule I adhere to, i'll just end up binging on YouTube videos or scrolling through Reddit aimlessly.

That's so true, do you write it on your phone or a piece or paper?

RE: Self improvement, recording habits
Hi guys,

I think many of us are here for continuous self improvement. I, like you, have tried to make myself a better person. The problem it has always two steps forward, and two steps back. Having good habits for days or week, to only quit after.

I realized that one of the reason that held me back was not making records. I've been using this forum to record the things I do, and have continuity and one up my former self.

There are some of the things I am trying to get out of the system.

Porn & Fap - Porn is a my staple, and one day I decided to dropped it. My cold turkey went on for 35 days and since has been able to abstain from porn and fap for most days, usually a week +.

Coffee - the benefits are not entirely proven but it is not a big pain quitting hence I’ve also stopped. I have taken a sip or two since but that’s all.

Sugar - this is hard to quantify but I’ve cut down heavily on sugar. It would be great if I can count my sugar intake though. I still take lots of natural sugar like fruits.

Calorie deficit - since the turn of the year I’ve dropped around 5kgs, I hope this slow and consistent progression can continue and I can take off another 3 kg.

Meditation - I’ve done it thirteen days in a row, not sure if it’s just a spur or moment or if I can continue this.

I am not sure if there’s a change in me, I hope so!

Updates:

Porn & Fap - Since quitting for 35 days, I have done another 20+ days streak, but in between I have done several days to ten days. I am now on my 7th day. No Porn is really helpful to my mental state, I see this as the no1 priority both the focus I have and my ability to work well on bed when the time comes.

Coffee - I have stopped for over a month just to start again when I was traveling with a travel buddy. I've restarted and on my third day, people are calling me the milk man.

Calorie deficit - I have not weigh recently, but I think I have cut at least 1 kg off.

Meditation - Ah, I didn't manage to continue doing this, it sucks. Help please.

Hi.
I keep a planner for goal setting. I like to keep it simple, and just write down what I worked on, and how long I worked on it.

Then a month from now, even if I haven't yet achieved a goal, I'll be able to review the log and actually see how I've progressed. Keeping the log helps me find out what is and isn't working. And when I see that the log has a few blank days in a row, that motivates me to get back to work.

Recording is great tool, but actually altering the behaviors is important too.
For example, I can record myself on nofap, but my results won't change unless i change something in myself.

Ex. Phone far away from bed at my desk before going to bed. Going to sleep earlier. Just doing things differently to break up the habit.
