I'm still going, had no porn or no fap feels good man. Still had some unintended sugar (couldn't be helped).

If you want time to slow then do some type of fast. You are taken out of your comfort zone. This is the longest month of August I have ever experienced. One week more to do and the month does not seem to want to come to an end. Before this all the other months were wising by. Seven more days to go.....

I haven't been following the thread but I applaud everyone who stuck to the plan. In nearly all EU countries it isn't easy to avoid obesogenic environment - cheap, processed sugary and salty foods are readily available everywhere. And evolution predisposed to crave those. The only difference, such foods, prehistorically, were very sparse in availability, so you gorged on when you could - sometimes, once a month only. Today, you can do it virtually as often as fast your stomach digests.

Seeing a naked women in the past was a rare event. Certainly, no male's brain was bombarded with hundreds of naked women in all possible positions doing all crazy stuff per hour, every hour. Our minds are overstimulated with all possible stimuli coming from all directions - it's an attention economy.

Throw in other psychostimulants, such as nicotine, caffeine, online dating, social media strokes, then one needs to pull in enormous amounts of self-restraint and it causes depletion in energy and attention on what matters.

Yet, a path to enlightenment requires careful planning, deliberation and steadfast implementation. Best to start from one thing one thinks is distractive, and then keep adding slowly. I believe a serious sugar and porn addiction tough to break out of simultaneously, going cold turkey.

However, whoever did the challenge and persevered even by a fraction of the month, made the most important step forward. September around the corner, so perhaps time to plan for the next month. It would be good to create monthly challenges of various kinds and have the creator of a thread keep motivating the 'signatories' in the thread. Just some thoughts...

I cannot believe this challenge has ended. August seemed like it would never end.

I am grateful for successfully completing it. I believe I was the only one. If anyone else also completed it post your name below.

There is actually a lot to say of my experience. I may write in more detail later when I have more time.

This challenge was quite important to do. Modern society is the most addicted society ever in history I believe. And it all happened within the last 30 years or so with the advent of the internet.

Porn, fapping and sugar addiction are the key addictions - especially for men.

I may do this challenge again. And give some good tips on how to prepare and be successful in completing it.

For me now I will try and make restraint the norm and indulgence more rare.

For most people, indulgence is the way of life.

Many religions have been strict about discouraging the sins of indulgence. Now I understand why.

Developing the mental muscle of restraint and discipline makes people more attracted to your energy and you get more respect from people. Your energy gets noticed even from far away. It automatically puts you ahead of other people.

More to say later.

Right now I am on my next challenge for September 2019. It is No internet and massive productivity challenge.

I didn’t really think about being addicted to sugar until yesterday. I got a good night’s sleep but yesterday morning I was feeling really irritable and anxious, and very cranky. I had no idea why I felt that way except that I felt it big time. Anyway, I stopped by a fast food restaurant to get some fries for my gf and I was like “screw it, I’m getting some sweet tea, I haven’t had some in a while.” I ordered a large sweet tea and forgot that a size “large” from a few years ago is now the current “medium”, and a “large” drink is nearly a damn tankard. I shrugged and slurped down that sweet nectar in record time. All of the sudden I felt calm and at peace, almost giddy. The marked change in how I felt immediately after drinking it was really insane.

It’s funny because the order came out to $7.77 and then we saw a car that had 777 at the end of the phone number being advertised on it, I made a joke about numerology being astrology for math nerds. Upon looking up the significance of 777, apparently it means you’ll gain some insight or wisdom soon...my great insight from this is that processed sugar is the true gateway drug, and that we are conditioned from a young age to get that hit, feel good, and want more, and then this same drive bleeds into other facets of our lives.

Definitely going to have to cut it out.
