Sober Game & Dates
Hey everyone -

I'm looking to an extended period of no drinking for a number of reasons - mostly to improve myself, and the one thing that comes up as a negative of course - is game/dating.

In the past, I've had not much issue at all with girls if I am willing to drink at all whether it be at a bar/club or on a first date.

And I should preface - where I am is a huge drinking culture, although there is a segment that is health focused just like everywhere else.

To cut to the chase, if you all had to go 100% sober, and were previously pretty heavy in the bar/club/drink date game - what would your strategy be?

For me it will probably be mostly a mental habit change, but will also have some resistance in pushing forward and "closing" without at least a drink or two since its been a habit in the past.

In my view options are

1) Day game + numbers (low volume)
2) Night game + just don't drink and own it

And then for dates

1) Sober outdoor dates
2) Bar dates + just don't drink (awkward)

For anyone that does this regularly would be a big help.

Thanks!

RE: Sober Game & Dates
I'm very conservative with my drinking. Doesn't really change much unless your setup is such that you feel pressure to clown around to interact, "make girls laugh" and such sort.

At night venues I can easily go with sparkling water, especially if I'm lifting and dont want garbage in my body anyway. After a few drinks, nobody notices what anyone is drinking but you will likely get bored sooner as most nightlife venues are way too moronic to survive sober for hours.

For dates, I would typically choose a non-drinking focused venue and ideally something where there's something to do that I'm actually interested in so you forget booze completely.... eg, some kind of mini event (show, exhibition, whatever) or place to grab a small bite with a nice view that I can enjoy. Girls who like to drink will "feel" it and some places are ok for them to have a glass of wine while you can drink whatever you want. Girls I might go out with aren't generally big drinkers at all and might just need a crutch for their own nerves.
