Italian Politics and Election Thread
Since Matteo Salvini has called for a vote of No Confidence in his own coalition government, it is likely there will be new elections.

Salvini was only the junior party in the coalition, but now support for his party, Lega is rocketing, so the hard-right legend no longer needs to compromise with his centre-left coalition partner(M5S).

There's only been one election with the new system, so it is hard to forecast.

One thing that concerns me is the decline in the moderate right Forward Italy party, potentially leaving Lega vulnerable to a broad-left coalition if it doesn't get enough of the vote. post-Fascist Fratelli d'Italia are holding up well though.

Breitbart has good coverage of him

Also, he passes the No Ugly GF test, and has two children so far.

Salvini needs 40% of the vote under the new (2017) electoral law to form a government. He's polling at 38% right now.

He can pull it off.

This looks like Salvini is basically trying for a soft coup.

Considering Salvini has actually delivered on blocking and massively reducing the migrant invasion into Italy, it's very exciting to think about all the possibilities. That is, of course, since Salvini has through his practical actions proven his true value unlike most other politicians in the West currently. Many cool possibilities ranging from more migrant repelling, intense co-operation with V4, Italy exiting the EU, and so on exist.

He has to succeed with this power grab first though, in order to see what will happen.

Italy is in a bad situation - they need to vote in a Mussolini - not clear whether Salvini will be enough.
