Tell Us About Your Church
I thought we needed a thread to gauge what's going on in America's churches.

Personally, I'm interested in knowing what kind of leftist indoctrination is going on around the country in these places of worship. Additionally, I'm curious as to what the situation is like for others looking to find a Christian bride.

I go to 2 churches myself. There is a dearth of good-looking women at each of them and when I go to weekly service, it is mostly made up of couples along with the occasional family.

Church #1
One of them is 20 minutes away from me but is the nicest of any church in my area so I'll sometimes make the drive just to experience the beauty and authentic experience once inside.

However, the last time I went they had a guest pastor who was reading out of Ephesians 5:21-33. There is a passage that says:

Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Of course the pastor used this as a chance to lambast men who beat their wives and wanted to make sure that every man in the crowd knew this was wrong. There was of course no talk about how the wife should submit to her husband as it's mentioned in the Bible. This pastor just wanted to concentrate on what bad scenarios might come from men who read this passage and took it the wrong way.

Church #2
Then there's the other church I go to...or should I say went to as I don't think I'll be going back. The pastor is friendly but seems to have some kind of leftist agenda as one time I went he wanted to organize some kind of "Meet Your Islamic Neighbor" event for the congregation. He didn't want any of us to get the wrong idea about these lovely people and thought we should be out getting to know them and welcoming them into our Christian community. Barf.

Because of my experiences at both of these churches, I am still looking for something more traditional with pastors who aren't leftists with some sick agenda.

RE: Tell Us About Your Church
When I'd only been attending my church for about a month, there was one Sunday when an older Indian couple was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. At the agape meal, the pastor them, "What's the secret to a lasting marriage?" and handed them the mic.
"I love her," announced the husband.
"And I do whatever he says," said the wife.
The husband nodded and smiled.
I sat with baited breath, waiting for someone to get offended. But instead, everybody clapped.
There are several good-looking women in their twenties -however they're all married to men they met at the church.
The sermons are always about the scripture readings in the lectionary, the women wear headcoverings, the services are done in full, and the priests don't hesitate to put me out of communion after a particularly bad confession. All in all, very solidly orthodox and I'm lucky to be a part of it.

ETA: My church is Orthodox Christian, and belongs to the Bulgarian Patriarchate.

It would help to also share your church's denomination.

RE: Tell Us About Your Church
My church is one planted as part of a larger network of small churches (non-denominational), so there is accountability for the leadership. Congregation size is around 150. They occasionally give lip service to "racial justice" issues, but are conservative on pretty much everything else, and theologically conservative.

Lots of young families, tons of kids. Most I've talked to are social conservative, though I'm probably farther to the right than anyone else. No feminists as far as I can tell. There is one couple that have views I could describe as SJW, but that's it, as far as I know. I have gone to the shooting range with the pastors (who are male, of course) and the worship leader. They are all pretty masculine men and not soy boys.

If SJWs try to corrupt my church, I will absolutely punch back.

RE: Tell Us About Your Church
Former church of mine for years was a spin-off of the Church Of Christ. The leadership was lacking. Men would get up on stage and literally cry tears about how someone needs to hear the gospel/sorrow over a lost loved one/etc . It was disheartening seeing it repeatedly.
I had friends that went there, but that was only because of them I went still.
Then I got a logistics management job that requires me to travel 85% of the time so I just lived a life of lascivious degeneracy from 2014 to about August-ish of last year

Now I'm in the middle of a career change going back to school so I'm close to home again, and decided to hit up my region for church attendance.
Went to a Baptist spin-off a couple of weeks ago. But I just was invisible to everyone. I had to go way out of my way to even be acknowledged. I got the feeling that it was like a social club again. This coming Sunday I'm going to my local Greek Orthodox Church. I'm tired of the corporate feel good that my Southeastern region espouses.

Churches are so common down here, they're literally like social club arenas.

Catholic Church.

We believe in heaven and hell and in the virgin mary. The virgin mary plays an integral part in the church. We have a God, but the virgin mary is seeing as a mother figure.

I go to a Catholic church here in Massachusetts

It's the one I was raised in, however it is in a small but very rich liberal town neighboring my town. It does have almost a therapeutic peace to it, however there are no activities or groups for young adults like me to meet others practicing the faith. Massachusetts has a reputation for having a lacking church culture. I'm going to be moving southward very soon, and I have to say, what I've been researching and prioritizing the most is whether there are good churches and ways to get involved for people around my age.

Semi related- can anyone here comment on the Catholic church community in Florida or North Carolina?

God bless

Wanna trade ? The churches down here have activities in a plethora of variants, albeit the substance seems lacking.

Florida has lots of Roman Catholic parishes, and it's not hard to find ones that are very active, and not particularly liberal. An Orthodox parish I used to attend there would team up with our neighboring RC parish for the soup kitchen and things like that.

Ave Maria college in Naples attracts a lot of somewhat traditionally-minded Catholic students. And all of the big cites in Florida have plenty of Catholic parishes to choose from.

I'm sure the big city rush into Nashville for the last 10 years helped. Am I right? Undecided

Yeah it's definitely changed. TN might go blue in 2022 because of all these flocking liberals Sad
