No Internet and massive Productivity Challenge for Sept 2019
We are just completing our No sugar, no porn and no fap challenge for Aug 2019.
Thread can be found here:

https://www.rooshvforum.com/thread-73728.html

I would like to continue the challenge in areas I myself struggle with.

By starting a thread and putting my name on it, I become accountable to myself. It helps me to follow through.

Especially getting input from others who also join. I am grateful.

===========================

The Sept 2019 Challenge is the No internet and massive productivity challenge.

Here are the rules. You can tailor to suit your own needs -- Only if you have to. Or else stick with the plan.

1 - No web surfing of any kind. But you are permitted to web surf only one hour per day -- Mon to Fri. You can only web surf after 6 pm.

You can also web surf all day either on Saturday or a Sunday.

You can use the internet for work purposes. But absolutely no web surfing outside the allotted times - especially first thing in the morning.

2 - Focus on massive productivity.

Write on paper what you need to achieve and post it where you can see it.

Write a to do list - things you need to get done which you have been putting off.

Write what your daily schedule will be.

------------------------------------------

That is it.

My one recommendation is try not to use too much will power. It rarely works in the long run.

In our Aug 2019 challenge of no sugar, porn or fap, hardly anyone made it. I suspect it was bc most were trying to slug it through by using will power. It was ego driven. When that failed they felt like crap.

Instead, be humble and sincere and connect with the higher power and ask for help and guidance. Develop a relationship with the higher power and let IT work through you and let IT do the work. In others words learn how to get out of ITs way. Be always thankful for ITs blessings.

More to be discussed.

Never strung more than a couple days in the August one. I'm in for:
- No internet except work and rvf
- No processed sugary food/drink
- No video games
- No jerking off

What if a chunk of stuff we need to do is done on the web. For instance I need to research getting a private full time caregiver for my mother. Also I am looking into building a new type of bike and can spend hours researching on that. Imho its not mindless browsing but it is still computer time. I am interested in the challenge but curious where we draw the line.

RE: No Internet and massive Productivity Challenge for Sept 2019
I'm in, but with a few caveats:

- Internet for RVF and work only. Checking email is okay as long as it isn't compulsive
- Productivity I'm completely on board with - members should post what they've written down as a form of acxountability
- Continuing the no sugar, no porn, and no fap, because I wasn't going back to it anyway.

Cheers to anyone joining these challenges, it's a great way to improve your standing in life.

RE: No Internet and massive Productivity Challenge for Sept 2019
Committing to a challenge on the forum is easy; where people stumble is the actual reality of dopamine withdrawal. Here are some tips to surviving the first few weeks:

Internet
- This one will be hard for the more digitally connected among us, as the past 15 years have been fully internet accessible. For those who spend several hours a day (fucking around, not working) I'd recommend a slow taper, where you spend less and less every day, til you hit about an hour of leisure surfing. Working on the internet is fine and encouraged.

NoPorn
- The no internet challenge encompasses the no porn challenge, which makes this simpler: Don't use your limited leisure time to watch it. Easier said than done of course, but when you find yourself on the verge of doing so, shut down your computer and do something else. Over time this will get easier, and urges will be less frequent.

No Fap
- I'd recommend checking out the NoFap thread here on RVF, or the NoFap subreddit as well. Both are great sources, and as there's too much info to list on this post, I'll leave it up to your independent research. What I will say is that it's great not being a wanker.

No Sugar
- Easily the hardest among all of the challenges, as our bodies seek out high-carb foods to insure against famine. However, we live in a time of prosperity, where this instinct is no longer useful - it can actually be destructive. The best way to kick sugar is to go keto - I dropped a data sheet recently for those who are interested. For those with a sweet tooth, switch to 90% chocolate (Lindt is best) or eat peanut butter (natural). The goal is to cut out 95% of all sugar intake, if you can reach this your body will seriously thank you.

Feel free to add more tips for those who are serious about the challenge. Cheers

That was already answered:

You can use the internet for work purposes. But absolutely no web surfing outside the allotted times - especially first thing in the morning.

--meaning you can only web surf one hour per day -- after 6pm. You can work on the net as long as you want.

The problem is not the internet but addiction to social media and entertainment. Use the internet to be productive. Use it as you would the library or as an office.

Who is up for the Sept Challenge?

I like it, but I'll take the challenge in a slightly different way.

1) No non-work related web surfing during hours dedicated to work and study time. Times daily will vary according to what I need to do. Likely 4-6 hrs each session.

-This could be slightly challenging. If in the zone, its no problem. If I'm mentally stuck and cant pull out any inspiration or flow, then there is a chance I'll put on some anime, youtube, or read something related to self improvement but not directly to work as an attempt to help my brain shift gears.

2) Massive productivity: writing out and working through how to tackle goals on a piece of paper is already a habit of mine. Near daily journaling.

3) a 3rd additional rule I'll be taking on is a bit related to your previous month's challenge. A PaleoKeto/Carnivore/ZeroCarb diet which I've recently started.

-Shouldn't be too hard, I'm exceptionally lazy when it comes to cooking and have no problem eating the same bland food all the time. Only possible issue is if my health condition flares up enough and forces me to eat white rice, a somewhat safe food for me.

RE: No Internet and massive Productivity Challenge for Sept 2019
Good thread.

Since today I will try to focus on these changes:

- I won´t surf dating apps through whole day, but only during 30 mins time window a day

- Sweets will be allowed only at the morning

- I will make a notice board to keep my goals and schedule only on my eyes

- Tidy up my flat regurarely, so it won´t become totall mess

- Keep my laptop on a desk, never take it to bed

"Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people."

What's the benefit of having no sugar intake? I'm intrigued.

RE: No Internet and massive Productivity Challenge for Sept 2019
We are on day three. I am staying off the net -- and my focus and productivity is slowly improving. Got some work done today -- still a long way to go to break this social media addiction.

Hope everyone is doing well and keeping the focus right until end of Sept.

Keep asking the higher power to help you.

RE: No Internet and massive Productivity Challenge for Sept 2019
Got to end of day 6(Sep 6), and I caved. The hardest part about giving up sugary stuff is your senses feel dulled, everything feels depressing and you feel like a zombie. Also giving up internet and video games makes me realize how much time I spend on them to prevent boredom, that could be spent on something else. The nofap thing was also hard, usually worked out when an urge came on. Gonna go back on Sep 8 and go the rest of the month. 6 days is the farthest I've ever gone so I'm not worried. I definetally won't do this after the month, I'll just practice moderation.

RE: No Internet and massive Productivity Challenge for Sept 2019
Result of a recent period of self imposed monk-dom, reflective of several of the things mentioned at the top of this thread, over the past 3 or so months:

No sugar, with caveats (at least one month)- Drink a diet soda every now and then. Have one regular soda serving on special occasions. No dessert unless someone offers. Eat fruit to substitute for lack of sugar. Although not strictly no sugar diet, I notice I really enjoy having sugar every once and a blue moon.
No Fap/ no porn (20 days)- Reporting 20ish days in or so right now. Lost track. Noticed on Instagram i happen upon soft porn. It is distracting I will say, and quickly divert my eyes. None of it is intentional. It is the women's fault. Not mine! They are all trying to show flesh. My conclusion would be Instagram is dangerous for those of us on nofap. On details of nofap: I am waking up earlier than usual, very refreshed and I think I'm happier. It feels like I'm in high school for some reason. Really feel like a bum not approaching because I feel the need to approach rather than other less productive outlets.
No YouTube (2 past months)- Huge timesuck for me. Usually political videos are the worst or mindless clicking of related videos. Instead I read novels or non-fiction. If not reading, work on stories I'm writing or computer programming. Realize that I was using YT for entertainment and it had 0 value for me other than entertainment.
No Movies/ TV (past 2 weeks)- See above. No wasted time.
Healthy eating/ periodic/ intermittent fasting (3+ months so far)- I eat slower. Savor food. I eat healthy. If eating out try to eat something nutritionally balanced limit fats and sugars. I fast by skipping breakfast usually. Sometimes skip dinner too. Snack on fruit to recharge.
No alcohol(4 months)- I am doing good, no extra calories in past 3 or 4 months. Great physical shape. I am in best shape of my life at least going back to age 18, maybe even better than the apex of my all time best shape. It's an awesome feeling knowing your at the top of fitness game.
No social media(past month, on and off before that)- I message friends from time to time and that's it. Feel happier not being sucked into that vortex and comparing myself to others.

Overall, these things were all the result of intense, sometimes-painful self-reflection that led me to focus on some negative behaviors I had picked up since I became an adult. You can see the negatives that each category brings, especially if you fail to moderate. Sometimes the best thing to do is cut them out completely or 95 percent. What all this has done is given me a deep desire to improve even more, aiming for even higher stuff now that I have a good grasp on self-control and discipline. Going forward I already have a hugely more positive, self- beneficial outlook. People already are able to tell I'm going places. I can report I am the happiest in at least 2 years, but more like 5 plus years, because of the above stuff I mentioned. And that's not even me discussing how my work life and personal life are going. I highly, highly recommend everyone consider doing some of the stuff posted on this thread, keep going at it, even if you fail multiple times, and see where it takes you. People are not joking when they mention how destructive some of these behaviors/ substances/ bad health habits are.

RE: No Internet and massive Productivity Challenge for Sept 2019
Day 14 almost complete.

Guys I did fall off the program a bit. Went over the hour time limit of websurfing a number on times. Started fapping again and watching porn.

I have been able to keep off sugar though -- now of week 6.

Week 3 starts this Monday and I will get back on the horse again.

After completing the one month of no porn, fap and sugar in September, I can compare and I can now understand just how much modern society is destroying mens lives with social media addiction, porn, fap and sugar.

It is a long hard battle and most men (and women) will not be able to break free bc of the work involved. This is the real reason why our society will break down.

The elites get more rich from our addictions.

We need a new leader who understands this. Not Trump anymore. He is part of the elite himself though he says he is for the people.

RE: No Internet and massive Productivity Challenge for Sept 2019
Checking in.

No Sugar - Doing very well on his front, all of my meals are keto, and I have successfully cut out sugar 95%. Feels good man.

No Fap - Doing well here too, signed and dated a paper declaration to myself that I will no longer fap going forward. It's been several days, so far so good.

No Internet/ Productivity - Have spent more time on the internet, but it's been in a more productive way. Been learning more about online marketing/graphic design, so any time I spend on the internet these days is in the effort to improve myself. Cut down on RVF as well - once a day max.

Overall, things looking pretty good. Seems like a lot of the posters got banned, but hopefully we can get some other members on board as well.
