8chan founder calls for its shutdown
Very informative interview and hit piece with HBO and background info on the 8chan founder.

Some misconceptions about the Red pill - suggesting that only looks matter in order for men to be successful with women. His own life story contradicts this straw man claim.

Equally significant, he believes that 8chan had mass shooters post their manifestos on there due to a form of group think he calls an "echo chamber."

Finally, he seems to support China and Russia's social credit model for the future of the internet in order to destroy anonymity.

I'm surprised a site with a reputation like it has lasted so long. Given inherent pressures, costs, and hosting/ technical support issues.

Of course it is a forum for the destitute, and if you run such a forum, I'm certain at some point you'd realize the role you play in discourse by being the proprietor of the forum. You could moderate such a forum, but the toxic behavior will be there as long as you take a no-holds barred attitude towards free speech. Given the anonymity of the internet, people will say anything, especially things that are objectionable shocking and crude.

Echo chambers reinforce bad behavior or ideological consistent behavior consistent with the belief(s) of the masses or forum owner/ leaders. That much is clear. The internet creates a lot of echo chambers. To minimize, again, you would have to moderate, or have rules about posting quality.

The fact that he would endorse a social credit model is horrible and make me wonder if he is a crypto-ccp supporter or russia supporter. The obvious implication is that he wants to rid the internet of anonymity. That would be akin, in our more phsyical world, to mandating that all book publishers or publishers in general include the legal name of the author of any and all books/ documents and written pieces; and, additionally allowing for strangers to rummage through your house and then give you a bad review on yelp as soon as they find something they don't like about you. It would be devastating, and I would rightly consider it an authoritarian unjust invasion of privacy alligened with Chinese-style Yelp-people-review surveillance capitalism.

Social credit would be a factor that could destroy our democracy and free speech. You can get all sorts of unsavory stuff from people based on internet history, and posting history. No one is immune from this. We all have some flaws or ticks. To link those to a "credit" system would motivate people to suppress themselves in public, and inevitably inform on others, like happened in the Soviet Union, to boost credit score.

It's frankly bizarre that a guy that took an avid free speech stance would be in favor of social credit, given the internet's beneficial nature as a being a bastion for free speech and the spread of ideas.

Something's not adding up here for me.

RE: 8chan founder calls for its shutdown
And the founder of Reddit would be horrified to know what it has become today. Some say he was suicided. The founder of 8chan could be compromised for all we know.

And lets not kid ourselves here, shutting something down does not stop whatever is on such sites.

Exactly, the conclusion just did not make sense to me. It just did not follow - he never even constructed an argument in favor of the tyrannical social credit system. His sudden "epiphany" kind of caught me off guard. Not even a mention of China and Russia being dictatorships. All his previous endearing personal biographical details seem to have been given to make the audience trust him so much that they will buy this conclusion.

@Foolsgo1d - he probably has been compromised, Philippines is too politically close to the US. Thailand would have been a slightly better choice - still many cheap caretakers.

RE: 8chan founder calls for its shutdown
For a guy who has spent that much time on the internet, that is an extraordinary mischaracterization of what red pill means.

I wonder how many people under 30 even know it's real origins, which for those who don't know, was a term used by early 2000s PUAs to describe the process of first learning game. To commit to learning game was to take the red pill, and once an understanding of game was acquired, it was likened to 'seeing the matrix,' as female behavior would no longer seem capricious and illogical, but instead predictable and governed by a fixed psychology. All the associations with right wing politics came much later, and to say that red pill means 'only physically attractive men can have sex' is just completely bonkers.

Remember Cody Wilson, aka 3d printed "gun guy", from Defense Distributed and his prosecution?

I would guess there is some leverage on 8chan owner, somehow, somewhere. With two possible good candidates (in the form of countries), who have dirt on him, maybe more.

Almost impossible to name a more Orwellian or Authoritarian, privacy-abridging public policy than social credit, especially when the only true case study we have, is from China, who is notorious for finding ways to keep tab on it's citizens, deprive them of rights, and prevent effective political dissent. I would call it highly effective social engineering that is an evolution of successful communist era social control tactics.

Yes, the sexual assault charge with the 16 year old for Cody Wilson was just too convenient. Similar for Julian Assange and the shit he was facing in Sweden.

And regarding China's social credit system, Glenn Beck brought up a good point that similar systems are being used by insurance companies and restaurants in the US already. https://www.christianpost.com/news/is-ch...erica.html

Maybe they change the meaning of the red pill in the Matrix reboot.

Utter bullshit. Some people online say mean things - ergo - let's usher in a full Orwellian police state social credit system that instantly punishes you for the most minute infractions of the current PC dogma. And remember - that dogma will push ever more to the left.

You are essentially disarming yourself forever and even accepting future madness at the same time. If they want to give your kid hormones and start her gender-surgery at age 7, then it's nothing you can do about it without damaging your future social credit score and losing your job, home and bank account. Some Chinese dissidents were banned from traval, fired and even lost their rental appartments - all for writing about some local corruption.

Imagine those tools available in the fucking West!!!!!

It's pure insanity only because a few blokes share some swastika-memes? This is what pure insanity or total submission to the globohomos looks like!

RE: 8chan founder calls for its shutdown
We already live in a social credit system, albeit a diet coke version. Roosh was barred from the UK was he not? Other alt-right/lite speakers who have no serious mainstream profile were barred. All of this was based on social media sources.

British football hooligans are banned from leaving the country during tournament periods.

The UK is already a police state and facial recognition systems are here to stay as it has passed the legal hurdle. These same systems are coming to the US because what else can the Feds do once they have used that Patriot Act $$$ to give military hardware to most if not all of the police forces in the US?

Slippery slope was yesterdays news. Its now a race to the bottom.

Do we have not have that now?

What happens if you deny the Holocaust? What happens if you go against the gay agenda? Go against trannies? Go against females being equal to men?

We don't have free speech, and people supress themselves in public due to fear of retaliation from corporations. The government isn't explicitly limiting speech, but they're allowing a cabal of private companies to basically unperson people for wrongthink because that's democracy.

And if you try to organize a protest, the government will allow antifa to show up and bash your head in. Of course Antifa doesn't face any punishment, but you'll get locked up if you defend yourself.

That doesn't sound very free to me.

There is defintely a less formalized version of it present in US, Canada, Germany, UK, France and so on, it's a prelude to a future full social credit system. For example, in US now they're examining social media of foreigners, in Canada it's easy to be banned b/c of past (minor) criminal history, Holocaust denial in Germany, in UK being an enemy of the state (Martha Stewart, white male, rappers, etc), and other examples. Being publically against feminism will for sure get you on a list. Facebook and other online outlets already prohibiting some opinions.

That Christchurch shooter and the incels who shot up the Gilroy Garlic Festival/Walmart were likely radicalized on 8chan and posted their intentions there too. I'd feel pretty bad if I was the 8chan creator myself.

People say mean things on Reddit and other forums all the time, 8chan got hijacked by vermin who kill people because they can't fuck.

RE: 8chan founder calls for its shutdown
< Nice mainstream CNN view you got there. They taught you well.

There is zero proof of "radicalization" by 8chan.

What the sheisters try to do is equate any kind of facts with "radicalization". FBI crime stats of certain groups could radicalize you, then Youtube vids, then all Red Pill sites, then all sites that are not CNN, then all books which are not mainstream. Finally you end up in a world where EVERY BLOODY THING COULD RADICALIZE SOMEONE TO THE RIGHT. And typical incel=danger view. Most mass shootings in the US are done by blacks and school shootings - you never see those stats here eh:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/4764...er-s-race/

So even the school shootings - Whites are under-represented there while it's true that it's not to a degree as with most other violent crimes in the US.

And there are far more attacks on cops, BlackLivesMatter-inspired attacks, Antifa- and CNN-generated violence on top of the usual false flag sheisters than there are violent incidents on the right, but of course the media is rarely going to talk about it all.

Oh - and Islam is the eternal dindu who never did anything even if the Christchurch crap smells like Falseflag from 100 miles away. The sheister even wired cash around the world towards right-wing sane guys in order to shut them down by association - right one week before. Black-op soldier who travels constantly around Pakistan and various other Muslim countries, but then goes on a rampage in some remote location in the West? Nothing to see there. As I said - mainstream indoctrination at it's finest.

In reality it's the left who is more radical and the mainstream pushed by guys like you who are spouting CNN talking points.

Enjoy your 2 mintue of hate.
