Eddie Money, 1949-2019
He was born Edward Mahoney in Brooklyn. His father and grandfather were police officers and expected him to do the same. He had other ideas and adopted the stage name Eddie Money. By the late 1970's, he had achieved moderate success. He just died from esophageal cancer at 70.

No way. I just posted about Ric Ocaseks death, click back and see this. Didn't hear about Eddie Money. Double suck. Take me home tonight's one of my all time favorite songs. Brings back a lot of memories. Shitty week for classic rock.

Love the guy's music. Pretty decent obituary in the NYT, talked about how he never adopted the glam rock nonsense of the time and stayed low key and blue collar. Married to the same woman for over 30 years with FIVE kids!

Rest in Peace

Eddie died on Friday. I didn't hear about it until Sunday. I was surprised someone else didn't start a thread about it.

Then again, I seem to be the unofficial starter of obituary threads on this board.

Well Puckerman it's nice you do that for us. Ironically it's more positive than a lot of the threads here since it invites pleasant nostalgia and remembrance.

I am quite comfortable talking about death, going to funerals, and just about anything else. Sometimes I think I should have been a funeral director, yet I wouldn't want to wear a suit every day.

We don't have these threads because people have died. We have them because they lived. That's why I always title them with dates and not _RIP_.

I was a huge fan of this guy & he was always a fan favorite for crowds of multiple generations. The guy was rocking fun shows across the map annually. He will be missed.

"Take Me Home Tonight" & "Two Tickets To Paradise" were my faves from Mr. Money.

Same. Don't know why. But here. Such a great song that will always live on. That chorus is powerful enough to bring drunk people together in a bar and start singing along. Good times.

RE: Eddie Money, 1949-2019
I snuck into his wedding reception, early eighties. He seemed cool. He didn't call himself Eddie Money. He called himself Eddie Mahoney. In his post wedding speech he said, 'I can't believe Eddie Mahoney from the neighborhood is living this life and married to this woman.' That's all I know. We got spooked and snuck out during his speech.

“The greatest burden a child must bear is the unlived life of its parents.”
