RE: Best lifestyle places
You'd have to be specific about what you want, and say a few things about yourself. No one can give you s standard answer.

That's not how we do things in Russia, comrade.

Visas are always the forgotten issue. Many places you can't just go and stay for longer than 3 months or so without a lot of hassle.

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

I have had this sig since 2015 and received thousands of post likes; yet not one person has commented on my sig. Perhaps you're familiar with the work it parodies? Let me know!

RE: Best lifestyle places
That's good question which I'm trying to figure out myself - so far the best place I have lived for social life, beach, close to a park is Barcelona. Its not the cheapest place (rent is up there), I'll check out Valencia after April next year (once it gets warm again) - it could be the best place, its significantly cheaper than Barcelona to live yet has most of the best attributes of Barcelona. Spain also has the Canary Islands for winter (its off the coast of Africa but is Spanish territory) ... could be a real winner ... just have to consider the tax costs really.

RE: Best lifestyle places
I loved Honolulu. Constant stream of new, interesting people coming in every day, the Asian culture influence(if you're into that), tons of nature/outdoor activities, good nightlife, perfect weather 95% of the time, cool vibes. It's like the best of city life mixed with the best of living in the sticks.

After talking to a young lady for a while, she told me “Even though your skin is black, I can tell your heart is white.”

RE: Best lifestyle places
I was not a fan of Honolulu and most of Oahu. Felt like a tropical California instead of a tropical paradise, and not worth the isolation, cost of living and terrible traffic. A lot of nice people, but plenty of shitty people too. Way too many people for the size of the island, and it didn't live up to the hype at all. At least to me.

The scenery is beautiful on Oahu, and there's excellent hiking/surfing, but I'd go with the Big Island, Maui or Kauai if you want a more laid back, Hawaiian lifestyle.

I am becoming more of a snowbird - New England Coastal areas in summer are quite nice and prosperous then various Florida and Caribbean islands after hurricane season.

I used to love California - lived and worked there when I was young - but now it is a mismanaged Socialist hell hole rated the worst place in the entire world to do business by Nomad Capitalist - the socialist California state government with massive gimmegrant giveaways and third world homelessness devolving into ancient Bubonic plague-like health conditions makes New England a 4 Seasons paradise by comparison... the cold winters cull out most of the West Coast problems.

Two of the places OP mentioned have high COL, all of them have shitty traffic and all of them are overcrowded with nice/shitty people. Hell, every place ever has nice and shitty people. If he's going to deal with all that, it might as well be Honolulu IMO.

RE: Best lifestyle places
Everyone has their preferences, but if I'm going to deal with all of that city shit, it won't be on a tiny, isolated and overrated (again, my opinion) island in the middle of the ocean. At least on the continental US, there is room to breathe if you want. The rest of Hawaii is much more like what people are envisioning when they picture a tropical paradise.

I brought up the shitty people in Oahu because many people think the natives in Hawaii are happy and pleasant to be around all the time. A lot of them are like that, and I enjoyed meeting them. But there are a lot of shitty Hawaiians too. I want to point this stuff out so people have realistic expectations if they decide to live there.

Fair enough.

If you are a conservative, older Bostonian, I'd look at Southwest Florida. Florida has DeSantis at the helm and you'll be surrounded by others in your same boat (conservative older Yankees looking for warm weather) in places like Fort Myers and St. Petersburg.

This is a gross generalization but the east coast of Florida has mostly people from the East Coast. West coast of Florida has mostly people from the midwest. You are more likely to meet retired Chicagoans than Bostonians.

Also, the West Coast of Florida south of St. Pete is nice but slow. If you are over 50 you might like it.

If your online business really takes off and you're rolling in money, I'd move to NYC or London. Being rich in either of these cities is great, as you can afford the high QoL that most other residents can't. It also puts you at the top of the SMV hierarchy. Would look into these if you are making a lot of dough.

One location on my Florida bucket list is JetBlue Park:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JetBlue_Pa...nway_South

JetBlue Park at Fenway South (or informally JetBlue Park) is a baseball park in Fort Myers, Florida,[1] part of the Fenway South training and development facility.

Opened in March 2012, it is primarily the spring training home of the Boston Red Sox, replacing earlier separated facilities at City of Palms Park and Boston's former (1993–2011) minor league complex, also located in downtown Fort Myers.[1] The naming rights were purchased by JetBlue,[2] an airline with major operations at Boston's Logan International Airport since 2004.

This is also close by https://www.edisonfordwinterestates.org/

Sanibel Island a.k.a. seashell capitol of Florida as well nearby.

RE: Best lifestyle places
How old are you? Are you looking to do extensive interviewing in order to find a much younger 20-something potential future wife? I would seriously look at Indonesia (i.e. Bali, Jakarta) and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur). Thailand is another obvious choice, although from what I see of foreigners in Thailand they are mostly seeking wives among unattractive peasants who have been on the streets too long and perhaps better quality Thais aren't so easy. Someone has mentioned the visa issue. I am considering possibly going back to college which would solve the visa issue and also bring me in to the orbit of young women who might make a good potential wife. Oh yeah and also make me a more rounded individual etc. NYC and LA just seem like they would be very expensive. Anywhere in the USA might be more expensive, so that is the good thing about the digital nomad lifestyle. I do know Colombia is a popular destination for some. The visa issue is easily worked around in many South American countries. But I have been in SA a few years now and have not found it ideal to find a quality 20-something potential wife.
