Well, the protest is from the Left, but I stand with them. Just dont like Amazon much myself.

Personally, I do find myself in agreement with the Left on many things. Might even vote Labour in this coming UK election. I was a Conservative/Leave voter not too long ago.

I was looking forward to buy some Christmas presents at IKEA today to see what they had for Black Friday. To my surprise they just had a sign "Let's make Black Friday to Hack day instead! Prolong the life of what you already have for a more sustainable living".

So I thought "fuck em" and just went to this other store.

In America, there has actually been a withdrawl from the 'Doorbuster Creep' of Black Friday. Stores opening early became stores opening at midnight and become stores just saying the fuck open all Thanksgiving circa 2015. Since then, there has been a vocal and subtle backlash against it to the point where this year, the only retailers I saw open on Thanksgiving were Walgreens, a few McDonalds, and chain gas stations.

Looks like in the UK Black Friday sales are more popular than ever this year, even as we are seeing 'backlash' of sorts from different groups.

It becomes ever more apparent that society is divided between those that care and those that don't.

Some care about Morality and some about cheap IPad deals. The problem is the former have no way to 'punish' the latter for their support of the degenerate culture. No community to cut them out of so to speak.

Once The Community comes into being we can really put consumer culture and it's followers on the back foot.

How is it really degenerate? I think you're being overly negative. I love tech and think it's nice to buy some cool stuff while it's on discount to have fun myself or give away as presents once a year.

I wonder how many of them have stopped buying and using stuff they hardly need as a protest against consumerism. Same as those climate activists - somehow I doubt that they stopped driving cars in favor of public transport. A good question to ask the lefty virtue signalers.

I didn’t buy anything this year. There was a lego Star Wars millennium falcon set that was 40% off, it was 500 down from 800 but by the time I saw it it was sold out and waitlist was full.

I didn’t really need anything this year. I have everything I want.

I do buy a lot of stuff off of amazon because of price and convenience, and will continue to do so

I feel as though consumerism isn't such a big issue. Of course, there is hardcore consumerism where people use material things as a measuring stick of their own value and that of others. But that's only a fraction of people.

I also don't agree with what the protesters said is the message being conveyed to children, especially cause they mentioned Germany. There you can literally be attempting your 3rd bachelors degree at age 27 after you couldn't make your mind up earlier and spent a year in Australia and 6 in Chile doing some work and travel / travel and travel stuff. Once you join the workforce, employers won't even ask why it took you so long.

People have so much freedom but want to complain out of sheer boredom.

I actually agree with them regarding consumerism but why forcing your opinions on others like that? Don't they realize that it is going to have the opposite effect?

Also what's the deal with all of them looking like bums?

They make me think of those spoiled kids that have their teenage rebellion phase. They challenge their parent's authority to feel free and independent but still want their money.

Just replace the parents with society and money with welfare and there you have it.

Generally the sales for consumer electronics(tv, entertainment systems, computer and upgrades, and game systems), high end household goods(think washer/dryer/refrigerator), this is the weekend to buy what you want at a heavy discount. I can't speak for retailers like JC Pennys, I am talking about best buy, Walmart, amazon, target, Kohls, basically the major retailers.

If you aren't looking at buying anything, then don't buy something just because it is cheap.

I've been in Poland and it was a relative pain in the ass not being able to shop on Sundays. Unlike Hungary it was very recent too so it was something Poles weren't used to either. Their opinion about it is it's just another thing their government likes doing. But the difference between owner staffed shops and not is kind of arbitrary.

In Europe it totally isn't. Any European who has lived in Souh East Asia for a while where your money (or rather your families) and subsequent social status determines how people see and treat you knows that Europe is very conservative about consumerism and even very wealthy people don't like to stick out too much.

Yes people consume but it's not about outrageous displays of status and wealth but mostly practical consumption.

The only people that flaunt tend to be muslim gangsters, but even then it's mostly just cars as being too fashionable is considered gay + they will draw the wrath of their fellow plebs if they look to different and they tend to live in the same ghetto areas as them as well.

If big tech would treat their low level workers as humans with some decency rather than goy slave robots there wouldn't be any problems really imo...

Society is meant to have religious and social festivals and events. Not low quality retail events. There is too much 'noise' out there with all these companies promoting their products and events.
