Republican Bolshevik tactics
While I don't trust Obama or the Democrats to reverse America's decline, 50% of people polled believe that Republicans are "intentionally stalling efforts to jumpstart the economy to insure that Barack Obama is not reelected."

RE: Republican Bolshevik tactics
i think you could just as easily make the argument that Obama is intentionally introducing new bills that he knows have absolutely no clue of passing just so he can say they are obstructing his plan. the Republicans have issued their own jobs bills but you dont hear anything about how that has failed do you?

Obama had a unique situation when he took over - he had complete control of both Senate and House, which is rare for one party to control all 3. As a result he got whatever he wanted. now whenever he doesnt get what he wants instead of trying to come up with some sort of a compromise he acts like a petulant child.

Republicans are bad, but Democrats are worse. Much much worse.

Obama engaging in an endless stream of intellectually vapid demagoguery.

No budget in nearly 3 years. Harry Reid and his Cowboy Poetry Festival. Solyndra., because, you know, we have to "invest" in green energy. Even if it means flushing half a billion dollars down the toilet.

Fast and Furious. Let's run guns that kill innocents. That's the ticket.

And then there's Obama care. 2700 impenetrable pages. CLASS doesn't work, so it get ashcanned. Hundreds of waivers.

Cutting taxes for the richest 1 percent is not a jobs bill. Didn't work under Bush not gonna work now. Republicans don't care about putting Americans back to work. All they want to do is cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans.

The republicans are the party of "NO".

You know that's not true.
The Dem's as usual were not unified and they didn't have close to all the votes they needed. It was a mess for them to pass The Affordable Health Care Act. And many of the Dem's that voted for it reluctantly were not re-elected in 2010...

And Democrats will say, "Democrats are bad, but Republicans are worse. Much much worse."

And so you all perpetuate the two-party system, while thinking that conceding your side is bad makes you an enlightened and independent thinker.

The American people overwhelmingly support the Jobs Bill. Yet the republicans wont support it.

I thought they were elected to represent the people?

We need to stop electing these clowns.

Congress had majorities the House and Senate. They didnt have a filibuster proof super majority in the Senate - they had 59 instead of 60 Dem's. They tweaked the rules to get it thru w/o having the ability to filibuster it. They lost the majority in the House in the 2010 elections. They still have control of the Senate - at least until 2012.

Do any of you liberals even have the ability to balance your own checkbook or are you so far in credit card debt that you dont even bother to open your mail anymore? Do you consistently spend much more then you earn?

The point is he didn't "get whatever he wanted" b/c they didn't vote as a
unified block. That is why the Affordable Healthcare Act ("Obamacare") doesn't resemble anything that the progressive democrats wanted (Single payer). They cobbled together a bill that would get the progressives + "blue dog" dems (conservatives) to vote for it.

"Republicans maintained their unified front against President Obama's jobs package, blocking $60 billion in funding for roads and other infrastructure projects despite indications they are sensitive about losing ground on a top issue for voters.

The GOP has shown great discipline as it fights the president's $447-billion jobs plan, even as polls show Americans largely support its various elements.

The 51-49 vote in the Senate, as two Democrats joined all Republicans in opposition, comes as Republicans and Democrats are vying for the public's approval on the jobs front."

The question isn't why block it if the people support it, its will it work?

Fed aid to teachers. Why? Education budget has expanded exponentially since the 70s and all we have to show for it is kids showing their teachers how to use iTunes. Work on getting better teachers, not hiring every shmuck that applies.

Fed aid to first responders. That I agree with.

Fed aid to roads, bridges and schools. Yeah, that was called the Stimulus and every other similar idea in the last 3 years. Hasn't worked yet.

Fed aid to unemployed. I agree with that too, being that I survived on unemployment for 6 months. Gotta have some kind of safety net.

Payroll tax holiday. Any tax holiday is a good holiday. How about a gas tax holiday too considering most state and fed gas taxes add at least 40 cents to the price of gas.

Raise income taxes over $250K. Will it bring more revenue in the short term? Maybe. Will it create more incentive for finding, using and fucking the shit out of tax loopholes? Definitely. Screw this losing jobs thing the Repubs talk about, people care about their money more than anything and they'll find ways of hiding it from the government.

Raise income taxes over $1 million. Same as above. Find me a Caribbean Island bank to invest in!!!!

It won't work. There's plenty of federal aid for people, public unions and federal agencies, but where the hell are the jobs going to come from? Road work is temporary. After that, those workers need to get back to building subdivisions and office towers, things they can't do if the money is all tied up because the business sector is scared shitless to try anything. I get securing the safety net for people, but you gotta wag the carrot infront of the fat cats as well. Class warfare makes for bad realpolitk.

Sympathy for the Devil

What do you expect? They're politicians. Our society has reached such a scale that the little man doesn't count for anything anymore.

America has been destroyed by progressives and progressive utopian ideas that say government can make you happy, the greatest lie of the 20th century.

A year from now you'll wish you started today

RE: Republican Bolshevik tactics
That the Republicans cannot agree to ANY tax hike or ANY measure to close loopholes tells me that they are a party run purely by ideology. The Democrats have shown willingness to work with Republicans to make cuts. The Republicans don't want to meet halfway. At the very least, they could let the Bush tax cuts expire. I'm so sick of their rigid ideology that any tax hike or ANYONE, no matter how rich is to be fought tooth and nail. I can't stand ideologues. Anyone looking at the situation that calls their self a pragmatist knows that both spending cuts AND tax hikes are needed to get the budget back on track.

The Republicans are so unabashedly the party of the rich and Reaganomics dogma that I don't know how half the country ends up voting for them. The American right wing is an enigma to me. The right in Europe seems much more pragmatic to me on economics. The American right is just bat shit crazy at this point. And I say this as someone who was a staunch conservative through my 20s.
