They do, this years IS-F got face-lifting and new suspension, from what i ve heard it's now better than ever.

@topic

I'm a huge fan of German cars. I own 2008 BMW M6 coupé, but I'm in love with SLS AMG, who knows maybe one day I'll be able to buy myself one, now it'd be unnecessary expense during the economical crisis

Haha OK maybe that was a little too strong. What I meant to say is 'they're a car that's supposed to be driven'.

Let me explain...

Where I'm from a lot of people think that owning a Ferrari (or another generic brand that they've picked from watching F1) is the best car that they can get.

Well they can fuck off because have you ever tried to drive one of those big-bonneted bastards down a country lane, or park it in a layby in front of a park, or in front of a casino on the quayside? You can say goodbye to your wing/side mirrors.

So a lot of the owners that I know of these cars just drive to work in these beasts, let them sit outside of their offices for 12 hours a day while they're at work, and then drive home again. Wow - really cool use of that money there.

Moreover, those so-called supercars sit really, really low. Hell, I've been in a Leuxs Elise back when they were cool and while it was nice to have the status of the car, it's not really empowering to be scrunched into a bucket seat on the same level as the road.

So compare that to the DBS - or any other Aston Martin on the market right now. They're versatile. You can go anywhere you want with them with no excuses. You can actually see the road.

I mean, can you imagine one of those sat outside an office building or a manor all day, only to be driven for thirty minutes to an hour per day and never on weekends?

Fuck off. They're not as imposing as even some of the other cars featured on this thread, but I'd take one of those any day of the week to drive around in everywhere the fuck I wanted to go, rather than sitting stationary and posing in a car with 'more performance'.

If someone wants to buy a DBS just to let it sit on a turnable in their garage or bake out on their driveway, then they're entirely missing the point.

Fair enough, I agree supercars should be driven. Anyway, while we're talking about the Aston Martins...

^^ For real WC. How hard/expensive is it to get a pilot license and cheap ass plane that won't break down?

I think its pretty expensive to get a license. Maybe 10k with all of the lessons. I know you can get ultralight planes for super cheap. 5k for a 1 seater. ~20 for something you could take people in. Other than that they're pretty expensive (upwards of 50k) and to get a jet it would be retard expensive. I remember an f-15 or something on ebay once for 20 million. Those private jets are probably a million.

It is generally hard and fairly expensive-private flying isn't cheap.

$10,000 is a good median estimate for the cost of a pilot's license. That'll get your foot in the door to fly something basic.

Aircraft are generally expensive, as you must account for insurance, maintenance and the cost of storage. If you go for a fairly basic aircraft like a Cessna 172 (the type of plane you're likely to be learning on), you're looking at around $75,000 for a used example in good shape. New ones come in at around $300,000. This is without including the annual costs of maintenance, insurance, etc. There are probably aircraft out there for a little less than this, though they're likely very light single seaters.

If you want a fighter jet, you can find an old (1980's) L-39 Albatross for under $200k these days. Again, the price here is somewhat deceptive-certification, maintenance and fuel on these can be very steep. These aren't planes you just jump into.

If you want a private jet, you'd best be worth tens of millions. Even a relatively small Lear 60 will run you around $8 million to acquire, and well over $1 million to run assuming you use it as intended (more than 400 hours in the air annually). Fractional ownership is cheaper, but still hundreds of thousands a year.
Prop aircraft that can carry a few passengers in comfort and for a decent range (ex: A Piper Meridian) are cheaper than this, though still pricy to maintain.

Long story short, you'd best have some serious cash stored up if you want your own reliable, safe private aircraft, even if it is just a small single prop Cessna.

Is that last one a MiG-29/Su-27? Incredibly good-looking planes. Also second mental on the Fiat Multipla - real polarising style, had loads of respect for anyone who bought one because they clearly didn't give a fuck what anyone else thought of them. Unfortunately most Fiats of that age tend to break down a lot.

RE: Cars You Guys Are Into
I bought a Mercedes 450SL about 18 months ago. I wanted one since I was a kid, and picked one up off a retiree who had a wife forcing him to sell some of his car hoard. Ive slowly been fixing the small acceleration and steering problems where I can and paying for it when I don't trust myself, which is mostly due to German overengineering. The odometer even stopped working but thank God for online Mercedes car forums. My next project is a scratch on the hood and clear coat issues on the trunk. Women love the old V8 sound, engine rumble, and how the doors thunk when you close them. I live in an area where I can have the top down half the year. A 20 minute drive is a 'date'. I notice the car's faults more than women do.
