RE: The Crossfit Thread
I knew from the beginning there's no way I had muscle-ups, that's why I decided to do the whole open scaled. It's something I will work on this upcoming year, along with pistols and pull-ups.

703 scaled. I was very close to hitting a muscle up for the first time today, though. I just have to learn to stay tight at the top once I get over the rings.

Nice work on the muscle ups!

I'm looking forward to seeing what percentage of the guys at my gym actually got muscle ups. We have the largest single team in the CF open (about 600 registered men and women).

wow that's huge amount of athletes! your gym must be gigantic.

I redid 15.3 (s) today, I wanted to get through the 4th set of WB, I had a great pace but just gased out around the 3rd set of wall balls. ended up improving my score a little, 783

I did 15.4 Rx'd after my regular WOD and trying to get a muscle up. Got 14. Had a couple wasted reps on the Handstand Pushups. I'm redoing it Sunday. My goal is to get 20.

15.4 (s) 1st attemp 118 reps, was a lot harder then it looked.

should be able to add a few more reps to that on Monday with proper sleep and no drinking the night before and having a few off days. also gonna pace myself a bit better and shoot for a specific number between 125-135 instead of balls to the wall redlined from the start

RE: The Crossfit Thread
Got 15 reps RX'd in 15.4 and managed to tweak my back on the very first power clean. I'm pissed because 185 is less than my max (235) and it takes me out of working out for a few days. I'm probably gonna end up missing 15.5

RE: The Crossfit Thread
re did 15.5 (s) on Monday and went balls to the wall redline. 8:02 was really brutal, but I learned things about myself. even when you think you can't go hard, you can. when you can't go faster, you can, when you want I quit, you don't have to.

I ended in the SOCal scaled division in the top 20, 1114 started. I busted my ass every week and I'm pretty proud of the results. going to train my ass off this year and see where it takes me.

52:30 with a 20 lbs vest. Broke up the pullups/pushups/squats into 20 sets of 5 pullups, 5 pushups, 15 squats, 5 pushups.

Nice, I got through it in 48:38 rx without the vest. That break strategy was good, similar to what I did (as suggested by the coach that day) 5 push ups, 5 pull ups, 5 push ups, 15 squats per round.

RE: The Crossfit Thread
Do you guys think these guys/girls in the crossfit games are on PEDs? People I know who do crossfit adamantly defend the competitors, but I'm not sure. I'm not trying to be a hater, it's a great workout program and these guys are fit as shit, but being able to do this shit ths many days in a row seems really astounding without something to aide recovery.

Civilize the mind but make savage the body.

RE: The Crossfit Thread
"Beating the Crossfit Drug Test"

https://www.t-nation.com/steroids/beatin...-drug-test

Quote:Successful coaches know that strength, stamina, speed, power, etc., are built during the off season. Endurance and flexibility are noticeably hampered by steroid use. This has been proven with sprinters.

We tested sprinters in the 100, both on and off cycle. The same athletes were faster off gear than on. This is because off-cycle they were lighter and retained less water. Their muscles were more limber and supple, but they retained most of the strength gained while on gear. Lighter + stronger = faster.

Many coaches use this paradigm today. The off season is spent building strength and power, while the weeks leading up to the competition are for honing technique. How many weeks? Not many. While we can get a juiced athlete to test clean in less than two weeks, no noticeable loss of power has been seen for a month or more post cycle.

Bottom line: You can spend the off season getting bigger, stronger and faster with the aid of PEDs, and then go off of them a couple of weeks before the competition, test clean, and still reap the benefits of the gains made earlier in the training season. For this reason, no athlete should have to worry about "no advanced notice in competition testing" because they shouldn't be on anything detectable during the competition.
