Anyone know about Cruise Ship jobs?
This whole cruise line accident got me thinking, has anyone worked on a cruise? Do you guys know what the best way to get a job on one is?

I have no experience with anything... what department should I apply for?

This is the site I found.. http://www.cruiselinesjobs.com/

So yea I kind of want a change of pace and think it might be fun and lucrative to work on one for a few years.

I have not, but I did read half of a book titled "Cruise Confidential" about a guy who worked on a cruise ship and partied and what not. I lost the book somewhere, but I wish I still had it to finish because it was a good read for us guys interested in travel and chasing girls. If you are thinking about working on a cruise line, you would probably enjoy the book a lot.

RE: Anyone know about Cruise Ship jobs?
I did a report on cruise lines once.

Best way to get in is through someone who already works for one. You'll need to be fluent in English and have excellent customer service skills. Food serving experience helps a ton. Just apply to the main companies and push. It's not the most fun job in the world but from what my friends tell me most of the service staff sleeps around a ton. There's nothing else to do... just don't get caught fucking a guest. Big no-no. I've heard it can be a lot of fun, but you will burn out after a year or two.

Don't go through a site like that one, research some of the main lines like Royal Caribbean and Carnival and go from there. You'll be in customer service to some extent no matter what.

I found this thread because I was thinking about this today. I've heard lots of real mixed stories about it, and I also hear it depends on what job you have on the ship if you'll like it or not. I have mad hospitality experience, meet people who work on ships, and live in the city with the biggest cruise ship port in the world. I wanna hear some insight if anyone has any.

I went on a cruise a few years ago and was trying religiously to bang this Romanian chick that worked on it. I kept trying to get her to meet me offshore for a romp somewhere but she kept bailing. Why is it so frowned upon if they fuck a guest?

I think you should ask yourself what you want to do.
Working on a cruise ship is not a very efficient use of your time.
Typically you are working a lot of hours for low pay, and you have to deal with the kind of people who take vacations on a cruiseship.
You would be much better off spending that 6 months or a year doing just about anything else at all that would let you generate enough income to pay living expenses and put some away, while working in your spare time on business ventures or educational projects tied to future business ventures, so that you get to be the guy on the other side of the table.

The wages are not great but are tax free, go on a decent ship with a large show and there will be all kinds of dancers and singers to bang, all the staff are at it like rabbits.

RE: Anyone know about Cruise Ship jobs?
I've known a couple guys who've done cruise ship work (in the kitchens) is supposed to be a MOTHERFUCKER of a run. You dont pay for much as they'll board you and feed you for the durations, but you're gonna work your ass off for not a whole lot, and that whole allure of "im on a cruise ship" fades because you work so god awfully much. I've debated it myself, however, just for the experience.

RE: Anyone know about Cruise Ship jobs?
I have a friend who writes reviews for a cruise website. Apparently the hours for most of the service jobs are fucking horrible and some cruise lines won't even hire Americans because they're not used to being worked as hard as they make you work. I've also heard that it highly depends on what your job is, though. I have another friend who got a gig playing in the band on a cruise ship for 6 months and he says all the entertainers do is work for a few hours every day, then get drunk and slay pussy.

Friend just got back from teaching kids (babysitting) on a Caribbean cruise.
-Like someone else said, really long hours, stuck catering to fat tourists.
-A lot of people have to stay on the ship while docking, so while you are free when you are off... you might get stuck on the empty ship while docked.
-Very hard to get full time work. Friend did 1 week in January and is going back for a couple weeks in March.

-Lots of like minded people
-See the Caribbean for cheap

I am assuming it would be very difficult for an Americans to be hired on a Mediterranean ship, especially if you don't speak the language.
