What did you expect?
I've never understood the meaning with concerts really. Seems completely pointless.

If you wanna listen to Metallica songs, why not put on Spotify and plug in some headphones at home and start enjoying their music there instead of paying a lot of money (and a 4.5 h drive!) just to stand around thousands of other sweaty, stinky drunk losers who just scream and yell while you usually stand so far away that you can't even properly see the artist and listen to them through speakers anyway?

Seems like a bad idea in the first place. It makes more sense with 13-year-old girls who want to go watch Justin Bieber, but as a grown ass man I think you're a bit too old for it.

Live music is great and Metallica kicked ass. Kirk Hammett is one of the best guitar players alive and I'm glad I got to see the band live. My only regret was taking my dipshit coworker.

I should have known he was like that being an iPhone user and Honda Element owner.

You want to know the only thing you can assume about a broken down old man? It's that he's a survivor.

RE: Forum "Lounge" - Everything goes!
Maybe it's just the genre of music I listen to, but going to a show is an incomparable experience to listening to it through an Mp3. The closest I can get is with my studio monitors and sub but there is something about seeing the band in person who makes the songs you enjoy so much. And you get to see that, yes, other people do indeed listen to this stuff too.

I'm not much of a fan of the deafening sound mix most places use, it makes it hard to hear what's actually being played. I mean, most shows I've been too sounded like shit. I will definitely be trying earplugs next time as I've heard they clear things up. Also I'm terrified of tinnitus.

Still, the sound is way different. The drums are loud and powerful, you can feel them in your chest. The guitars crunching and buzzing with a ferocity you could never dream of from the album playback. The vocalist, while not as perfect as the recording, is making sounds you could never imagine coming out of a person's mouth, the lows are gutteral and the highs earrape shattering intense. And hey, you even got to shake his hand after the show, pretty fucking awesome.

And fuck you Leonard I've looked at my recorded videos from shows, like, three times, and almost watched the whole thing, so there. Angry

RE: Forum "Lounge" - Everything goes!
In light of the news that Victoria's Secret is closing some stores, apparently, some PC-orientated audiences are jumping on them saying that their sales were low because they refuse to sell fat-friendly wear.

The reasoning in the news seems to be:

Quote:The brand has been losing prominence as more women switch to buying sports and so-called comfort lingerie from stores like American Eagle, Third Love and Lively. Target also plans to launch three new lines of sleepwear and lingerie this spring.

Victoria's secret isn't the only one getting hit by this. A lot of women cosmetic lines took a dip in sales last year, mostly because women are currently having a high employment rate, which means they are less likely to dress up nice now. In addition, this is likely a cultural effect from feminism being spouted, telling women they don't need to dress up like women to be good looking, whether it's the View or a magazine that they are reading while getting their hair done.

It's a worrying trend. I like pretty women. I like women that dress sexy and put on makeup. But not too much. Is this the end?

Historical Vindication for All: Roman Legionaries Carve Ancient “Phallus” Graffiti Near Hadrian’s Wall

Photos of a recent historical discovery made in England showcase Roman legionaries ancient phallic graffiti carvings near Hadrian’s wall

Quote:We’ve all seen it – hell, most of us have done it ourselves. Adorning the walls of every head or latrine, waterproof notebook, unguarded white board, dirty rear windshield, and most recently, even in the sky above. There lies a nice big penis etched for all to see and admire. Thanks to a recent discovery in England at an ancient Roman stone quarry, complete vindication for every infantryman who’s dared to immortalize his own phallic ideals.

I can't imagine it would be very fun or comfortable filming a concert on a phone that long. But man, people are obsessed with displaying their life on social media. I almost guarantee that's why he filmed it and was looking over it in the car, to see if it's ready for instagram. It's more important and satisfying to show people this cool thing you did than actually experience and enjoy it.

I'll usually grab a couple 30-45 second clips during a song I like or a cool moment. Any more or longer and I start feeling like a massive tool. But it is nice to go back and see what it actually was like. Though like Leonard said it doesn't happen much. I've probably looked at the video from my favorite show ever maybe three times haha.

A while back I was at a fireworks show. It was really quite depressing.
Hundreds, probably thousands of glowing phone screens held aloft over the crowd in front of me like cigarette lighters for an 80s power ballad.
Every dot representing a retard. A retard too retarded to understand that absolutely every single factor that makes a fireworks show even slightly interesting is completely lost when you replay it on a small screen.

It's terrifying to see right there before your eyes just how many of them are out there.

(Note: This wasn't lighting up the Opera House or Harbour Bridge or anything, just an ordinary fireworks show in the air with no landmarks or points of reference for scale)

There is footage that is worthy of recording - usually sex footage. I wish that I recorded more of it. Fireworks aren't one of those things - the same goes for concerts unless you are really standing close and doing a selfie with someone.

RE: Forum "Lounge" - Everything goes!
Today I was told that my exwife and her two unborn twins nearly died and had to be rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.

I was told this by someone who looked at me like I should be interestedly or care.

I tried to listen and give off some empathy but frankly, I couldn’t give a damn. You walk out on me, you’re dead to me. You don’t show me loyalty and I cut you away.

It’s hard to say this in polite society so I chose to say nothing. Later a red pill friend of mine who was there asked me how I felt about that interaction. I told him what I really thought.

I have no real reason for posting this, I suspect though that I few of you on here would understand my mindset so I suppose I might be posting it for those in the future who are low in empathy.

Still - you loved her once mate. On some level there is still some sort of bond between you two even if you don't like to hear it.

I disagree. Western empathy is a disgusting indulgence that has led to our downfall and Skipro is adopting the mindset he will need to protect and provide for those precious few in his life that will appreciate it. Particularly in the dark times ahead caused by our lack of will to cast out and keep out parasites and betrayers.

Empathy for the worthy.

The rest can die in a fucking fire.

I agree, but my line is drawn still towards my former loved ones.

Vlad the Impaler is an excellent example.

It was fine to defend his country against the Ottomans and impale them. But when he later began to impale his own people over minor infractions (peasant seen with an unkept wardrobe - he impaled his wife instantly), that is when he lost common support. In the end the people rebelled against him and preferred to return to live under Ottoman rulership than suffer the whims of someone who could not longer differentiate between foe and kin.

That is what many people don't understand in our circles - we don't see much problem to defend borders with brutal violence, but we don't need to bombard their homecountries with "bombs of love" and revel in their suffering. Though this situation is different and frankly a personal decision. I was talking from a spiritual viewpoint - the same viewpoint sees nothing wrong with bombing rapefugee boats. Vlad the Impaler would have bombed his own fishermen on a whim as well.
