American TV: The New Roseanne is the Ultimate Shitlord

Maybe they're broke because they have to feed deadbeat Darlene and her kids. "Jackie" was clearly overacting in the first few eps, but has calmed down of late. Estelle Parsons, the woman who plays her mom, is still hilarious, god bless her. The worst part of the last episode was the over-the-top bigoted checkout girl at the grocery store. No one in their right mind, in these pc times, would speak to a customer that way. Not if they want to keep their job. The whole thing rang false in the service of virtue signaling.

I was surprised to see Estelle Parsons back. My first thought was that I was surprised she's not dead.

I found out she's 90 in real life. She actually doesn't look that bad for 90. I had some grandmothers that were still going pretty strong at 90, so I know it happens, but it's still surprising to see it in a TV character.

If you want a serious takedown of Roseanne, as well as most other American television shows, you need to read Shapiro's book, Primetime Propaganda. He interviewed the top producers in Hollywood under the guise of being a friendly liberal Jew (his family is in the industry - shocking!). The show runner who created Roseanne admitted that it was basically a psyop. The show was meant to cater to working class, blue collar white people. It fed them understanding on their economic woes, only to slowly sneak in (ultra)liberal social ideas - abortion on demand, transgenderism, experimental lesbianism, etc.

OF course it's propaganda. Roseanne Barr herself is a mixed bag. She is somewhat working class and even gave away her daughter for adoption when she was 17 - partly because they were poor and partly because they were conservative. But she reunited with her later and gave her a high-paying job on the show. She is also what seems to be a devoted mother and down-to earth. She lives on some farm in Hawaii married to a mellow hippie look-alike:

She is a mixed bag because most of her liberal bias remained in the 1990s while the current left moved towards Antifa madness. She doxxed some cops in some BlackLivesMatter shootings and did other crazy things. But something has been going wrong with that family as well since one brother and one sister are homosexual in their family.

The show reflects that:

+ at least they mention price undercutting of illegals (true that they are desperate, but the politicians could create such punitive measures against it that every company doing it would be bankrupt - hardly a wall would be necessary then)
+ they normalize and shill for transgender
+ they push for race-mixing since DJ's daughter is a cute black girl - this gets really tedious now. And I like that Dan's partner is black - the actor is all cool - two working class dudes trying to make it, but they really had to push the globalist agenda 101, did they?
+ the Muslim couple is of course all liberal, oh so afraid of the terrible racists (kid sleeps in a bullet-proof vest in fucking rural mostly White USA!!!)
+ the woman goes out in full Hijab - so doubtful that they are really liberal - they should send over their gays, transgenders and black family members to test the real waters
+ the scene with the cashier girl of course never happens, but the reaction of Roseanne is worse - telling her off is one thing, but she said that she is going to report her - so the globalist chain will certainly fire her and block her for life. But this is how tolerant the radical left really is. Also how does she know what that Hijabi woman really is? Maybe they should tell them that they are half-Jewish, have a transgender grandson, lesbian friend and a black granddaughter.

+ Of course the scene at the supermarket never happens, but fact is - they are in the country and are taking EBT and getting welfare while countless Americans who paid taxes for decades are homeless and struggling. That Roseanne uses food stamps is one thing, but the rest of the world doing it while screaming about US racism and "being afraid of Americans" - fuck off!

+ That the show depicts no financial progress is actually realistic. You have 600% the chance for upward social mobility in Scandinavia than in the US. In Scandinavia all you need to do is to work hard, study or get a good vocation and you will be much richer than before. In the US that is nowhere enough.

But Roseanne's green-left-political ideas are not going to solve that.

The original Roseanne featured one of the first lesbian kisses on American prime-time television. It got lots of attention back then. It involved Sandra Bernhard (whose sexuality has always been up for debate) and Roseanne. The character played by Bernhard was gay, and her character also had a relationship with a character played by Morgan Fairchild (who is arguably the greatest femme fatale actress of all time).

I always found it interesting how the relationship between Dan and Roseanne was portrayed. It almost always ended up with Roseanne somehow outsmarting Dan.

This is Archie Bunker 2.0, where the main & most popular character is used as a straw man to knock down rightist positions by portraying them as ugly, and being proved wrong by the end of every episode.

The best thing you can say about the show is that it does get some concerns of working class America into the Overton window.

Yup - it's exactly like that - was not familiar with the show, but that is how good propaganda works in the beginning:

Then they have other shows which then make the other characters into the main ones when the needle has been pushed further.

In our context it's the transgenders and pedophiles which are only introduced in Family guy:

Then a decade or 2 later the trannie and pedophile gets their show. The same thing went on with Archie's Bunker in the 1970s and in the 1990s you had Will and Grace to breach new frontiers and normalize it further.

The truth is that they do it everywhere - in Dynasty they had the gay son and it was a major plot point.

Keep in mind that the leftist propaganda is not done, it has also a different meaning to what is advertised. The reason gay normalization was pushed was not because of deep caring for the gays - it was to atomize and destroy marriage/ normalize greater promiscuity and a highly different lifestyle. Only now come the effects through where gay marriages influence marriage and divorce laws for heterosexual couples or redefine parent-child relationships. Wait until the transgender, pedophile and bestiality crap go through the system.

Actresses like Roseanne are in that respect useful idiots and nothing else.

I don't care about this being cancelled.

It started good with the first episode, then steamrolled down hill and ended up being a yuge letdown.

Shitlorded in the first episode to get everyone's attention, then did nothing with the characters (other than her daughter). No progression, no pushing the envelope, no humour, and what was supposed to be funny was actually pretty sad by the end of the season.

I agree - aside from being a Trump supporter and vaguely for some kind of sane immigration it's far-left propaganda 24/7.

Still funny that she tanks the show with one careless tweet. Guess we know which privilege won over which.

Also funny that ABC would tank a show that has high ratings just for hitting a PC third-rail.

This shows how deeply polarized we are these days.

She shouldn't have apologized. The game clearly isn't fair when right-wingers can get their lives destroyed over the most menial shit while lefties like Kathy Griffin can hold Trump's severed head on live TV and face little to no consequences. Roseanne should know better than to play by the rules when the game is clearly rigged. Why can't a celebrity involved in one of these "scandals" ever just say, "Fuck you, you're all a bunch of pussies" whenever they start taking heat? Actually, come to think of it, that did happen once, and the man ended up becoming POTUS.

She killed her career with the apology. Now the left is never going to let her live it down. On Twitter, it reads as follows:

"I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste."

Everything about this is wrong, from the pseudo-patriotic reference to "Americans" to her asking to be "forgiven."

Reality check: It was a joke, not an insult. The "offensiveness" was unintentional, not deliberate.

Roseanne's whole act was always in bad taste, so I don't know how she managed to even write that apology. Decades ago when she screwed up a rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" before a ballgame, she grabbed her crotch as if to say "suck this!" when people started to boo. She should have done the same here.

That joke was stupid and rude, but she's a fucking idiot for caving in to these people and apologizing to them. And this is not some random person who doesn't know better - just a month ago she told them to "fuck off" over her being a Trump supporter, so she clearly knows how these things work!

Shameful and stupid. Just confirms that you should never rely on any celebrity for political support or inspiration.

Indeed. I was just about to say how I dunno why she bothered to tweet that lame crack to begin with, surely knowing that the resulting backlash would be monumental. Ultimately, as noted above, the apology was the worst of it.

The idiocy was in making the comment. There’s no denying Valerie Jarret is a piece of shit. But anytime you mention nonwhite persons and apes/monkeys in the same sentence, you know a shitstorm will ensue, and there’s a high likelihood of it costing you your job.

As for the apology, I don’t think it matters in the slightest. Despite the fact that it’s been the highest rated show on ABC all year, it goes against the narrative, and the execs will take any opportunity to kill it off. Remember Tim allen’s Show a year or two ago? That had great ratings and they cancelled it with no reason given, although he’s a known conservative.

I agree with porcheguy. Anyone who compares another human being to an ape in 2018 is basically asking to be fired.

There is no way Roseanne is so clueless that she didn't know that.

This is just the sort of thing that a lot of women do when they think they don't deserve something.

They blow it up.

Her inner dialogue might have been: "I had a good run the first time around despite being a disastrous human being and I certainly don't deserve a second one. What are you people doing?"

Valerie isn't even black so I don't understand what the problem is.

Traverlkai claims in the Trump thread that it might be some clever plan to tarnish Trump - first get close to Trump, then unleash some crap.

Who knows.... the show was not particularly Trumpish or conservative.
