I've always liked Nine Inch Nails. Manson was, back some time ago, a protege of Trent Reznor, and often collaborated with him - so as a result of that, I've never minded his music much. It's nothing special, though, really, so back when he was cool in high school I just shrugged at it. Nowadays, I find it pretty cringe, but I also miss the late 1990s and early aughts. (I also thought his take on the Columbine tragedy in that documentary Bowling for Columbine was pretty refreshing, as his music was blamed by some politicians as a cause of it.) I read his autobiography some time ago out of curiosity. He is definitely an intelligent guy (total midwit, though) who became a degenerate because he hated his upbringing. It was about four years ago, though, and since it's far from a great book, I've forgotten like 80% of it. The LaVey part I remember pretty clearly, but not entirely - I guess according to LaVey he freaked out the right people, so he made him an honorary priest? Manson didn't really seem too thrilled about it from what I remember, though, and thought the church was just a bunch of stupid posturing by a flim-flam man trying to be outrageous. I appreciated his honesty when it came to that. The thing about his book that irritated me the most though was his clueless ego. When he began fronting his band, he described it as "With my band, I wanted to snap society out of their self-induced Christian funk! I wanted to make people angry and bother them." Yeah right, Marylin Manson, you and your gay little band aren't going to undo two thousand years of Western history.
