Armenia vs Azerbaijan conflict

Hostilities have broken out in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The region is, due to the inheritance of Soviet administrational units, officially Azerbaijani territory. However, it has a nearly 100 percent Armenian population and has been a beacon of Christian Armenian cultural for centuries. Since the 1994 Nagorno-Karabakh War (Armenian victory) it is a self-governing break away republic called the Arthsak Republic. In reality it is 100 percent controlled and dependant of Armenia

Ever since the 1994 War Azerbaijan launches regular incursions and probing attacks. This time it looks more serious though. Therefore I am creating this thread

Both Armenia and Azerbaijan seem to be gearing up for serious conflict. If Azerbaijan presses on with its current offensive it will involve several regional keyplayers, most notably Iran, Russia, Turkey and Israel

So, equipment-wise, we're looking at a 1980s Soviet vs. Soviet battlescape it looks like. And a Christian vs Islam battle on a national level.

Turkey is no doubt be heavily involved in this conflict, they might even be the initiators.

Turkey has specialised its drone warfare capacities in Syria and Lybia. They routed the Tiger Forces in Idlib in a matter of days. It was the Russians who leashed the Turks back in

If Turkey uses those capacities in Nagorno-Karabakh I am afraid the Armenians are at a heavy disadvantage. The Russians have military bases in Armenia and the alliance runs strong, but I heavily doubt whether they will be able (and willing) to pressure Turkey/Azerbaijan into a ceasefire

Armenia proper is safe. Nagorno-Karabakh is not

Drone warfare in Nagorno-Karabagh

Another Turkish trademark: the use of Syrian Islamists cannon fodder

Regional war incoming. Pak and Turk with Azer and India, Russia with Armenia. Turkey sending the cut throats to the area as well.

US and NATO cant get involved directly as it is Russia back door.

Its already been stated as an official war now so who knows where this will lead but considering all countries involved have shit economies and only getting worse it could escalate.

A main issue is that Azerbaijan seems to be backed by some sort of Zionist influence. They are allied with Turkey, which is somehow a part of NATO now (don't ask me how.)

Also @Foolsgo1d Azerbaijan has a MUCH bigger economy than Armenia, and a load more military spending. They have the newest Israeli drones and tech, due to the oil boom there.

Armenia is Christian and has repelled the Azeris time and time again. In the 90s, they crushed them. In 2016, they crushed them. I'm not so sure this time will be the same.

Israel has sold Azerbaijan some "suicide drones" (I believe they're called Heron).
Aside from that I'm not sure of the political picture.

Now? Bro, Turkey has been a member of NATO since 1952. Moreover, it has the largest active military within NATO of any country except the United States:

Somehow, I completely forgot. Goes to show that the US and it's allies are literally siding with Islamists against Christians.

Back when Turkey was accepted into NATO, it was a secular republic, and NATO was opposing the atheist scum from Soviet Union, so it really made sense. But you're right that today it no longer makes sense. It should be expelled.

Now, I'm no expert on tank warfare...and neither are these guys apparently. MBTs are mobile artillery support for armored cav and infantry, not scouts.

It strikes me as funny how every time an Arab or Islamic nation gets ahold of a tank, they have no idea how to use them. How many videos have we seen where an Iraqi M1 rolls into the middle of a dense urban plaza only to get decimated by hand-thrown explosives from above? Like, wtf?

You should watch this vid' then, halfway in. These support units are completely out in the open and struggling to get by exploded, disabled units.

I would not want to be in the infantry or cavalry in modern warfare. It is only a matter of time, before you get blasted by something in the sky:
