Big mistake.

Pausing the donation drive for Folau specifically is fine, but the ACL should immediately launch a general fund, administered by super-anal, by-the-books lawyers with trust/fiduciary duties, to help these cases in the future.

Most people have no idea who the ACL are day-to-day so this is their chance to build a warchest.

It is less than two years since gay marriage was legalized and already people like Folau are in the firing line. It is going to get worse and the ACL should be capitalizing on things NOW.

Folau has had massive balls in standing up for himself and his beliefs so far, but his decision to not earmark his original GoFundMe page for lawyer fees looked really bad.

Alan Joyce the CEO and his "banned words".

It was Rugby Australia CEO Raelene Castle (lesbian feminist) and Alan Joyce, Gay Qantas CEO, who got together and in a couple of hours decided Izzy's fate.

Qantas are the Wallabies' chief sponsor.

Aside from hating Izzy for publicly stating that he would vote against gay marriage in a national referendum he also signed off on banning 'words' from use in Qantas professional spaces.

Qantas is facing criticism over a leaked list of “banned words” that have been sent to airline staff in an information package.
The info package was sent out by People and Culture group executive Lesley Grand and contains “gender inapropriate terms.”

News Ltd says that in a note to staff, “Ms Grant says she wants to foster an environment where ‘everyone feels comfortable’ and to uphold Qantas’ history of ‘support of indigenous issues, gender parity in business and marriage equality.’”

Some terms on the list include,

wife,
husband,
mum and dad.

Instead it is suggested staff use the terms spouse, partner and parent.

News Ltd reports the info pack says, “Always using the terms ‘husband’ and ‘wife’ can reinforce the idea that people are always in heterosexual relationships. In the same way, always referring to ‘mum and dad’ can make many families feel excluded — both same-sex couples and single-parent families.”

Other words staff should avoid include, guys, love, honey and darling.

Staff should also “minimise manteruptions” – men interupting women while they speak."
