Art work: card players by Paul Cezanne

To the art lovers here, i feel compelled to inform you lads that Paul Cezzane's Card Players......that you are looking at below...was fetched for $250 million. Yes, you are reading that correctly...with all due respect....even Paul Cezzane himself, who happens to be a pampered trust fund baby, would balk at this exorbitant price. Anyways, here is the CARD PLAYERS...

I once had a really hot girl tell me that she loves my watch ( I was wearing my Richard Mille RM11 ), and then, she told me that she actually loves to see guys wearing rolexes; which you all know guys can have for 4KUSD.....PLOP!

Mixx

No offence but if your RM11 is as ugly as the Felipe Massa ltd edition that sells for 60k then that is one ugly overpriced watch.

That's absurd.

For that amount you could buy the Van Gogh, Picasso, and Monet pictured below, and still have 30 million leftover.

Curious that the most expensive wristwatch in the world is: Piaget Emperador "Temple".
the stats:
'The Piaget Emperador "Temple" actually has two hidden watches that are revealed by pushing down on certain parts. On one watch, the case is set with 481 brilliant-cut diamonds, 207 baguette-cut diamonds, and an emerald-cut diamond on the top of the case. On the second watch, which has a tourbillion and a 40-hour power reserve, the Polynesian mother-of-pearl dial is set with 162 brilliant-cut diamonds and 11 baguette-cut diamonds. The bracelet is set with 350 baguette-cut diamonds. This one-of-a-kind piece has already sold, but Piaget says other double secret watches can be commissioned.'

this will cost you $3,300,000 . Below is the image.

EVEN more expensive, clocking in at $4,599,487. Is the Louis Moinet Meteoris. The stats is ridiculous " Swiss watchmaker Louis Moinet introduced a concept, Meteoris: a set of four tourbillion watches, each made out of other worldly materials, such as meteorite from Mars, the moon, an asteroid, and an ancient meteorite called "Rosetta Stone." The company got the materials from meteorite hunter Luc Labenne and worked with universities around the world to authenticate them. Meteoris comes with a planetarium that depicts the solar system and must be purchased as a set." Well, here is a picture of this monstrosity:

On a personal level, i like these three:

These three are all nice watches, a minute repeater is my favourite complication and usually you need to talk about 40k plus for the honour of owning one unless you go for a seagull, snip at 15k

WHy os that ?

Because your statement is ignorant. Your opinion is subjective when judging that watch disregarding the obvious objective qualities like highest old school watch making craftsmanship combined with high tech alloys that goes into building each RM. If you want to look at grossly overpriced watches than don't look further than a run of the mill Tag.

I have a very keen interest in watches so don't try and patronise me , I think some richard mille watches are OK but some especially that felipe masse thing are ugly as sin, its a mess, poor design is poor design. Trying to charge 40-60k for watch with complications that are neither new or original nor executed in a particulary orignal way is an interesing marketing ploy. As a matter of interest why is the RM chronograph so expensive when you can buy other high end Chrono watches for so much less ? I can understand high prices for difficult complications like minute repeaters perpetual calenders or a grand sonorie but for a chrono ? nope.

You keep repeating the same (ignorant) statement. Poor design? You mean aesthetic design? And who are you, an Arbiter Elegantiarum? I understand that somebody might not like the look of a watch but to completely dismiss it's obvious (to anybody with "keen" horological interest) manufacture qualities that each RM represents based on a statement such us "ugly as sin," is to me an ignoramus.

Where is that high end chrono for so much less that you're talking about? You mean a prettified Valjoux 7750 in IWCs and Breitlings that charge 7K for a $200 movement?

Take a look at Patek's or Lange's simple chrono prices and you might be surprised that they cost a bit more than an RM which breaks the Swiss rigidity by introducing interesting alloy fusions on a functional level in their FULLY INHOUSE mechanical designs. Ah, but to you it's a marketing ploy.

Prices from top watch houses start at 100K+ for any form of tourbillon and other complications.

It's good that you're keen because you have a bit more reading to do.

Cracker jack you clearly have issues, to give examples of a high end chrono try some from Franck Muller a real watch maker not some gimmicy blagger throwing out ugly tat like Richard Mille who as a company have been around for all of five minutes and Richard Mille himself is a financial manager not a watch maker. When you know what you are talking about please carry on but until then stop getting so excited about a watch brand with no class and no history.

I was staying with my friend's Dad in Brussels. He was the Canadian ambassador to the EU at the time. While we were there, these 2 Americans lawyers came over to visit. They were friends of his, and asked us (my friend and I) if we wanted to go to London for lunch.

We flew there on a private jet. One of the guys said he owned "a few." They ordered over a drink trolley, and after looking through they said they didn't want any of that "cheap shit." The waiter brought over a bottle of port that cost 1000pounds per glass. They had about 5, and bought us each 1 to try.

Damn, crackerjack and billy....you lads are going at it. damn!

If i may weigh in on this. On a pure aesthetic level.....Personally, i wont go so far as to call Richard Mille ugly or whatever that billy called it..... but from my own point of view, i find RM to be too gaudy...unnecessarily showy...too, shall we say, meretricious for my taste. My lange and patek that i posted, on the other hand, i find these to have a sense of subdued elegance, an air of understated sophistication about them, almost aristocratic.

Of course, this is just a personal taste. Crackerjack definitely have a different opinion.

Anyways, here is an interview with RICHARD MILLE himself.
