I was staying with my friend's Dad in Brussels. He was the Canadian ambassador to the EU at the time. While we were there, these 2 Americans lawyers came over to visit. They were friends of his, and asked us (my friend and I) if we wanted to go to London for lunch.

We flew there on a private jet. One of the guys said he owned "a few." They ordered over a drink trolley, and after looking through they said they didn't want any of that "cheap shit." The waiter brought over a bottle of port that cost 1000pounds per glass. They had about 5, and bought us each 1 to try.

Sweet, mr. jaz... the best response to your post is this song:

Cracker jack you clearly have issues, to give examples of a high end chrono try some from Franck Muller a real watch maker not some gimmicy blagger throwing out ugly tat like Richard Mille who as a company have been around for all of five minutes and Richard Mille himself is a financial manager not a watch maker. When you know what you are talking about please carry on but until then stop getting so excited about a watch brand with no class and no history.

Haha, Franck Muller? You mean Kim Kardashian of the watch world. The guy who calls himself a "Master of Complications" uses stock ETAs in most of his "complications"! He's a joke of the watch community dude. Now you say RM is around all of five minutes - do you know when Franck Muller brand was founded? In the 1990s!

You still haven't stated any objective reasons why RM is overpriced comparing to other high end brands. So far your reasons are: ugly as sin, and... I thinks that's it.

If i may weigh in on this. On a pure aesthetic level.....Personally, i wont go so far as to call Richard Mille ugly or whatever that billy called it..... but from my own point of view, i find RM to be too gaudy...unnecessarily showy...too, shall we say, meretricious for my taste. My lange and patek that i posted, on the other hand, i find these to have a sense of subdued elegance, an air of understated sophistication about them, almost aristocratic.

Of course, this is just a personal taste. Crackerjack definitely have a different opinion.

Anyways, here is an interview with RICHARD MILLE himself.

What can I say, I like watches.
Speaking of chronos, right now this one is my favorite.

I agree that Pateks and Langes just ooze class.

You genuinely know sweet FA about watches do you, Franck Muller hand made his first Toubillons in the 80's back when only Patek and Vacheron knew how to make them, some of his movements are ETA based but he still has more patents for more complications than any other watch maker, tell me what complications has financial manager Richard Mille invented ? Thats right fuck all because he is a corporate CEO not a watch maker. Franck Muller has built the watch with the most complications, he has patented more original complications than any other watch maker and at least makes wathes that don't look like a piecce of shit. Tell me what unique complications does CEO RIchard Mille have to his name ?

That wally 118 is the coolest boat I have ever seen. If you own that boat I wonder if game is even an issue, I cannot imagine the man who owns that boat posting on a forum I am sure he is to busy fcuking models and porn stars to have the time.

The Wally 118 is truly magnificent. It is dark, sinister, and graceful. That's the boat. If you want a yacht, I really like the Alfa Nero, but Wally and Hermes partnered on an interesting concept that was a "floating island" so you could literally take your home anywhere in the world with you and broke conventional yacht design. It is called the Wally WHY (Wally Hermes Yacht) only the Hermes fashion house dropped at the last minute after design was complete; maybe not enough money in it for them. Wally has already built the concept and if they get a buyer it will be built. It is truly a home that you take with you. I want in!

The full scale model:

The mockups:

WHY-1-1.jpg

and the conceptual video, honestly it's spectacular:

Imagine having the 118 slipped in Marbella or Monaco, ready at a moments notice ready to take with you anywhere in the Med. and to have the WHY in New York, Miami, or the Caribbean and when hurricane season comes you take your home with you to the Med for a winter (or Brazil). Now where are talking B, not M.

If you own a boat like that...game will not be an issue...even if you have leprosy.

RE: WINE edition.

The one i really want to taste is this:Aisla T' Orten...it is 105 yrs old.

Price: $1.4 million

'105-Year-Old wine has set a new record of being one of the finest wines in the world. The wine is produced by the well known company Malt whiskey and was discovered by Scottish historian. The hard fetched whiskey was distilled on February 17, 1906 at the Aisla T’Orten distillery in the Highlands. The cask that was used was a sherry butt and was kept in the basement for about a century by Aberdeen-based historian, Allie Sisell. It was sold to Master of Malt in 2010 by Mr. Sisell and was bottled on March 8, 2011 after it spent 105 years in cask. That is the reason this exclusive drink is worth $1.4 million.'

Limoncello is a sweet Italian liqueur, The bottle comes with a load of flawless diamonds hence th eprice so I assume it was made as a publicity stunt, knowone would pay premium for lemoncello which is a cheap tarts drink.

i couldnt agree more...except for the part that ."...nobody would pay...."i can see if somebody like paris hilton inherit billions...i can totally seeing her doing something like this....It has to be a useless daughter or a bitter ex-wife wasting your money.....anyways, at the end of the day, $44 million is the price and the price is the price....regardless of how stupid.

Like i said, the one i want to taste is the Aisla T' Orten that is 105 yrds old.

Why are you so negative? Did your parents teach you to be this way?

Eljefe...i understand your concern and i appreciate it....but if i may hazard a guess...i think billy has a strong visceral reaction to things that are pretentiously ostentatious without any real value behind them....or things that he thinks are like that. I think, for billy, if something is ridiculously expensive, it should be worth it: hence his reaction to richard mille and the wine limoncello.

I have stated my view of richard mille already...where we disagree...but, i dont see myself disagreeing with with him on limoncello...the diamonds is what shoots the price of the vintage...which is not the reason why i drink wine. Just my personal preference, of course.

But, eljefe, i can see how you see such visceral reaction on billy's part as been less tactful way of expressing his disgust at what billy sees as nothing but "overpriced, unsophisticated piece of junk".

Of course, i could be completely wrong in my assessment of the situation...i will exit stage left and let billy speaks for himself....

I just hate the mentality of pricing things to create demand. Its like girls handbags, they cost very little to make but can cost up to 20,000 US dollars this is just a trick to convince normal averagely wealthy people that the other handbag they sell for 1k is actually a good deal even though the manufacturing costs is less than $20. I believe in premium products , a Saville row suit or a pair of Barkers shoes represent quality, a rare level of skill and workmanship hence the price but many designers are creating a brand to sell cheap crap at premium prices. There has been a massive rise in super premium to cater for the new super elite but what we have now is an effort to convince normal people to spend a fortune on shit they don't need. Fashion items are here today gone tomorrow real quality lasts for lifetimes. For example Fossil watches, they buy cheap china made movements and brand them with a range of desinger names then sell a $10 watch for $300 this is rampant stupidity for every idiot who thinks they are wearing an Armani watch. Same with designer sunglasses I like good optical quality, glass polarised lenses so I usually wear raybans at $200, oakleys are also OK but with them usually plastic lenses, what drives me mental is the number of $100+ sunglasses with poor quality lenses and frames that are priced entirely on the strength of a manufactured brand name.

Dude, it seems like your watch info comes from Robb Magazine. I understand they have pretty pictures of obnoxiously overvalued watches like Corum, Kobold, Hublot, and Mr. Muller among other junk for the clueless.

Now, I know Muller made some technically interesting pieces, but that stuff is not production watches. Were talking individual pieces like a flying tourbillon for a 1/4 million and up that quality wise are among the top. What you seem to be comparing is their mass produced joke like let's say your Muller's Conquistador which retail over 20K. You would be VERY lucky to sell it for 5k in mint condition. It's like judging an auto maker by their concept cars. You wouldn't think there is a bench made Bugatti engine in your little Corolla S?.
He became a joke when - not even mentioning the cheapest stock ETA movements he used - he also outsourced dials and hands! Man, even TAG wouldn't be so obnoxious to charge 10-20K for a Carrera.

But if you're looking for a nice original chrono I suggest a GO. Nice understated watches.
