Why so excited about an ethnic group on the other side of the world, who incidentally get plenty of pop culture and media coverage, replacing your own ethnicity in this TV series?

Black guys are usually portrayed as thugs and lowlifes. These were middle class-type dudes in a layered storyline, not some cliched rubbish. Not everything in life needs viewing through the lens of demographics/black pill and so on, that's no different to the far left viewing everything through the lens of intersectionality.

Maybe in the nightly news. But in Hollywood/TV/Netflix/advertising, black men are invariably portrayed as smart, confident, capable and loyal.

New season was the worst one yet. Another show this year this year falling under the weight of its progressive agenda. The creator is a huge leftie and the show has always bent this way, but it was ridiculously over the top this year. With the weak narratives and lack of futuristic technology that hasn't already been explored, the show failed to maintain any sense of realism or engagement. Really, I'd just say this season was largely boring. If not for the excessive amounts of progressive propaganda infused into it, I probably wouldn't even bother to write much about it.

EP.1
-How is the first episode getting props from anyone. The idea that a company would just release a Street Fighter game mostly played by teenaged boys with a fully programmed VR sex simulator within it is absurd. The show already established last season that you could edit out genitals, and you're telling me now that this company would just let the game hit retail like that? Even if we understand that in the episode's universe we are deep in Clown World 2029 I still don't buy this oversight. I cracked up later when one of the guys even confirmed that there are large groups basically just using the game as a VR porn experience.

-The idea that straight men are just a realistic VR experience away from having gay/trans desires. They build up the friend explicitly as a player in the early scenes, just so that the later subversion shocks you more. And despite them not having gay desires in the end when they meet in real life, it is implied that the friend is having some of the good old fashioned 'gender identity' issues. He is so enamored with his new sexual life as a woman in the game that he can't even keep it up for his IG thot girlfriend anymore!

-The ending's message regarding the whole institution of marriage is pretty bleak and backwards. Even if you are meant to see dramatic irony in the whole situation, as they peacefully resolve their emotional conflict instead of blowing up like you expected, the ending's upbeat tone makes you feel like they're saying this is how modern married life has gotta be in order for everyone to be happy. Men, you can go have a virtual gay experience once a month while your wife can go out on the town and get with some random Chad. Bravo, Black Mirror. You've done it again!

EP. 2
-"People use social media too much." Damn, that's deep. What an idea! This episode felt like a high school PSA they'd show to kids now in Drivers' Ed to tell em not to text and drive.

-There is no subtlety in this episode at all. Am I just crazy or is it all a bunch of coincidences guys? Why is the loony unhinged guy a white guy? Why does the innocent victim who is captured by him just happen to be black? Why is nearly every single male shown to be a buffoonish blowhard or utterly incompetent? Why is every position of authority in this episode a woman? Why is the only positive male character an empathetic, self-hating soyboy trying to 'find himself' out in the middle of the desert? Think I'm exaggerating?

-After the loony white guy kidnaps the black intern, they are spotted by a couple of cops. The dumb white man is too busy worrying about whether his female partner got him his snacks and fails to spot the hostage in the back seat. Luckily, the ever vigilant 5'0 trooper who appears to be of Indian descent had an excellent vantage point and demands that they pursue.

-The chase turns into a hostage situation, and the 'Chief Superintendent" or whatever is summoned to the scene. There's some big showy shots for her arrival and drumroll please...it's another miniature woman who starts bossing everyone around.

-But hey! It's not too unrealistic, as the hostage negotiator is a dude and surely he knows what he's doing. He's given a moment where he takes control and grabs the megaphone and you know they aren't investing this much time just for a big cheap laugh at this character's expense right? And....he's another moronic white guy who has to flee from the scene in what was surely intended to be a big laugh from the audience.

-We soon meet the CFO of this Facebook knock off company, and it's a strong, independent Asian wahman. You didn't think we'd forget to highlight diversity as much as we could did you! Anyway she works with some guy in the office but it's clear that he's just there to crunch some numbers for her and she's the one calling all the shots. They also talk with some FBI guy who's of course just portrayed as some douchebag who they hang up on.

-Since it's a hostage scene there are snipers of course. Conveniently there happens to be one male sniper and one female sniper. The badass Chief Superintendent broad gives the order to Sniper Bro to take the shot, but since he's a useless guy he misfires and only knicks the target. The episode ends with the badass Chief Superintendent broad giving the order to Sniper Chick to take the shot, and ends with the most creative and powerful way to end stories nowadays: cut to black and leave it up to the audience. Since I can appreciate true art and recognize the power of strong wahmen, I know the Sniper Chick got a direct hit and took out the looney white guy while not striking or harming the innocent minority in any way.

-Moral of the episode? Limit your social media use and especially keep it minimal when driving. Maybe just a quick check after you finish banging your VR boyfriend in Tekken. Also, Mark Zuckerberg would be a cool bro who we'd be totally down to see some slam poetry with if he just had feelings and cared about other people.

EP. 3
I watched the first 20 minutes or so, and it was so dull and uneventful that I couldn't muster any thoughts about it. Even now I hardly remember anything aside from Miley Cyrus playing a parody of herself. It was like one of those Disney Channel Original Movies that even thirteen year old you wouldn't want to watch. For reference I checked IMDb after and it's the worst rated episode of the show by far.

I only watched Ep 1 and 2. I enjoyed them both. I liked Ep 1 better? Does that make me gay because I liked something virtually that was gay? :gay: hmmm...

It was a unique concept showing 2 masculine black men with frustrated sex lives but a very strong bond in friendship. This has a lot of parallels in the real world. Sometimes our best relationships are not ones with a significant other or chick. It's with other men. I mean are we really satisfied with relationships with women? They either are dumb or their priorities change (for thr most part). The grass isn't greener on the other side but at least you have good friends you can play a game with or shoot the shit with WITHOUT being judged. Women are all about themselves. The wife just cares about herself. No one noticed the subtext of this being portrayed?

However, as an aside there's something fantastic about letting yourself escape into the virtual world where the rules of being tied down (marriage) or endlessly selling yourself (dating) do not exist. You can relax and say fuck it. I would have preferred not to do this with another dude but it just so happened this was the scenario. Finally being with someone who will never judge you and understands you. You don't have to agree with the morality to enjoy the creativity. I always believed that about art, including cinema.

I mean, let's look at this a different way, shall we? Take the gay aspect out and make the 2nd main character a woman. That's a LOT worse from a creativity standpoint. Then you lose the ability to portray that strong bond between 2 black guys genuinely. No way it flies with a chick instead even for other reasons if you think about it.

As far as black guys being portrayed in media as positive, I call bullshit. The liberal agenda isn't about representing black men genuinely. Hollywood and TV just portrays them as caricatures (white men with black face). If not they're on the 6 o'clock news.

At least shows like this portray black men exactly as they are instead of putting on white face. I liked that dynamic and cultural references. It's funny how hollywood pretends to give black actors a chance to please the left and the right thinks it's got ammo against them even though it's all smoke and mirrors.

Some of the comments out there reek of virtue signalling. Just try hard attempts to prove this was the gayest hour of TV ever, instead of digging deeper. We know you're not gay. Relax.

The game was called Striking Vipers X.

Not Striking Vipers VIII or some other number.

I don't think that was coincidence.

Black Mirror has always been hit and miss. Some concepts are strong, some are less so.

This season isn't setting any new highs. Was prepared for it to suck based on reviews - but I ended up finding it very watchable. In conclusion, it wasn't so bad.

I found the Miley Cyrus one interesting, not as playing a parody of herself but as a mirror of herself (a black mirror perhaps?). To me it was like an admission that she is a mind controlled slave, drugged up and manipulated by sociopathic handlers. Like Miley Cyrus is playing "Pagliacci" the clown.

If they used the same story and had any actress that was also not a clearly manipulated child star and singer it wouldn't have had the same mirror effect.

It was like a veiled biography.

I just watched the second episode of the new season. I was disappointed, the ending was very underwhelming after all that build up.

I think they could have expanded on the meditation thing a lot more, I was excited to see that on a mainstream show especially one about the dark side of technology. I was hoping there would be more about how toxic social media is to mental health and that the daughters suicide would be attributed to social media addiction as well. But all that kind of all fell apart in the last 10 minutes.

I think the show isn't as 'edgy' as people want it to be anymore, because Booker has said everything he wanted to say about the dangers of tech, and people listened. People are definitely more wary personally about how technology can negatively affect their lives. I've heard people have conversations about not letting their kids on social media because of the effects it has.

With all the news about tainted Huawei hardware, software government backdoors, and the silicon valley agendas, the problems of tech on a larger scale are being talked about too.

So now when an episode mentions a Facebook clone having a 'dopamine department,' we just shrug our shoulders and say, "yeah, we already know about that."

I watched episode two.

- cop that first notices there is a problem = female (her male partner is oblivious)
- cop that "take charge" of hostage situation = female
- social media network employee who "cracks the code" = female (and black)
- hostage negotiator who sucks at his job and gets humiliated = male/white
- main character who is a frustrated loser = male/white
- innocent victim of main character, who in the end proves infinitely kind and self-sacrificing = male/black
