The Gulag Archipelago and The Brothers Karamazov both come to mind. I've also read War and Peace but my copy was only 900ish pages. Several volumes of Will Durant's Story of Civilization hit the 1K mark...The Age of Faith and The Reformation, I believe. May be a couple of others.

I just ordered a copy from Abebooks. Thanks for the recommendation. Any other old history books or biographies that you would recommend?
Apologies for the OT Post as it is only 900 pages but Jacques Barzun's From Dawn to Decadence: 500 Years of Western Cultural Life is a fascinating and broad look at the rise and fall of western civilization. I picked it up a few years back when I heard Keith Richards was reading it. Plus it was published in 2000 which means it was written last century before everything went clownworld.
