Trust me, your words aren't going out one ear and out the other. Man, just got off work. Certain parts of it makes me hate myself (I'm still in that certain deadend job).

Starting next week I'm knocking doors. I don't even know what I'm really doing (I don't have a website, my car is still broken, etc) but I'm so tired of doing what I currently do.

Make some presentable looking "ad copy" images in photoshop/paint and post some ads on your local craigslist. Knocking on doors is casting a very small net.

Have you thought about combining it with gutter cleaning? Great to do in both spring and fall. Simple job, you can get a plumber's snake or something for $30-100 and snake all the downspouts.
